Yamaha Tenere 700:
The Yamaha Ténéré 700 is a midsize adventure/dual-sport motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha since 2019. It features a 689 cc (42.0 cu in) parallel-twin engine which powers the motorcycle through a six-speed gearbox and chain drive. Brakes are equipped with rider-switchable (on-off) ABS. The "baby Ténéré" is the latest in a series of dual-sport Yamaha motorcycles named after the Ténéré desert stage of the Dakar Rally in the Sahara. The successor to Yamaha's XT660Z Ténéré was first announced as the T7 concept at the 2016 EICMA with an anticipated production launch in 2018. A refined concept was publicized a year later.
Yamaha announced that delivery of bikes would begin in Europe in July 2019, and only the following year to the USA due to emissions and other regulatory delays. The liquid-cooled 4-stroke 8-valve DOHC engine with crossplane crankshaft was already in use and well reviewed in Yamaha's MT-07 naked and Tracer 700 sport touring bikes.
Honda CRF300L:
Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great-like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.
Hello my name is Andrew, My family and I love powersports. Just something about the feel of freedom and power you get from a bike or ATV. On this channel you will find content for the Honda 300L as well as our journey we take together in the world of power sports.

I've seen allot of dudes who've never ridden dirt bikes, trail bikes, or duel sports think their gonna buy a T7 and go do singletrack. If you wanna get hurt then go right ahead, but the T7 for any average rider is a TERRIBLE bike for off roading.

Colton I agree, It is a tough bull to handle. People see other riders like pole tarres throw it around like a trials bike and think its not that hard. Having one I can tell you that it takes some time, and is a hard bike on single track. I dont know if you watched it all but I really tried to drive that point home when I said its not a beginner bike.

@@MotorcyclesOffroad Yeah man, I'm more referring to dudes who've ridden street bikes for years, thinking the T7 is gonna be their first "Off Road" bike. There's another you-tuber (who I won't mention, not looking to throw shade) who bought a T7 and mentions it being his first off road bike, and doing singletrack on it, only to be in for a rude awakening. He later added a 300L to his fleet to. Right tool right job, unless your a damn animal and it doesn't matter which isn't most of us.

Couldn’t agree more. Same as people trying to ride challenging dirt on 1200s I remember the days when a 600 was considered a set of keys for an orthopedic doctor’s Mercedes. It’s just a pig. Long days in the dirt are so much more FUN on a dirty day.

I'm getting myself a T7 at some stage. It will be used 80-90% on road with some light TET adventures. I had a Maico 490 back in the 80s......but I'm not so stupid to think I'm as strong or as fit as I was then. Know you abilities folks.

Why not a KLX300? Sounds like you would be using the T7 more on road/adventure, the new 300 would be used more off-road and has way better suspension out of the box. Unless you plan on throwing money at the Honda. I have a T7 too btw (and a Hypermotard)

I am so on the fence between the two bikes and have been for almost a year now. I would eventually like to own both as I feel they are each in their own right a purpose built machine. However, they are characteristically close enough to cross over into the others realm relatively well. As I already own a strictly road oriented bike I am leaning towards the CRF300L first then go from there. Goals. Thank you for taking the time to compare and contrast these bikes. It was well articulated and vastly beneficial. Safe travels my friend! ✌️

that's like being on the fence between buying an f250 or a ranger. both go on the road.. both go on dirt. One is built for pulling 10,000 lb trailer the other for hauling a Christmas tree. If you never really ride hard singletrack , hop across logs, jump. hillclimb, rock garden, etc... then the 700. If you do like to do that stuff then the 300.

Unless you have done a lot of off road I would stay away from the T7 very tall and top heavy, I can flat foot a CRF300L but only tip toe the T7 not a good first time off road bike. I have many years of road and off road and would not get the T7 for off road. much better bikes out there, weight wise.
@jeffloucks2120
@jeffloucks2120 2 жыл бұрын
@@hiltonmcconnell2563 Agree with this. The T7 benefits an experienced dirt rider who is comfortable standing a lot off road. Can be ridden like a huge dirt bike at that point keeping some things in mind. It's a lot of momentum and weight to slow down though. Easy to start feeling a little comfortable and roll on the speed. Next thing you know you've tucked the front of your 450 lbs+ bike that lays super flat in some akward position.

Really looking at the T7 to get rid of my old kx250f. It will be a steep learning curve I am sure, but the extra power and reliability that the kx doesn't have are a big plus for me. The size doesnt bother me too much, especially when a majority of the offroading i do is on basic flowy trails and basically dirt roads anyways. With a number of riding parks withing an hour ride, it doesn't seem like a bad option.

The only difference benefit that I can see is power. The T7 doesn’t really have any other major differences that are a plus!?! I have a crf1100 (Africa twin) too and tried that off road once, but never again. Far too heavy. But then it does have loads of additional features, cruise control, heated grips, traction control, apple car play, etc etc. I use this bike for touring and weekend blasts. I then bought a crf250 for committing and the odd weekend green lane

@@MotorcyclesOffroad Appreciate the advice and I know exactly what you're talking about. Stalling at idle speeds is unacceptable for a bike at that price, but my alternatives are the ancient DRZ400 or CRF300 which is too small for me, even with a tall seat. We're planning to do the TAT and can't pick what to take. I had a KLR650 but hated it, too top heavy, and that's what steers me away from the T7. There is a recipe id like to call out for motorcycles and new riders. You dont need as much power of road.... A heavy bike offraod is not much fun either. That being said if you have the money and want to tour off roadish the Tenre is a great motorcycle. Being a 45 year veteran rider and still able bodied, I feal soo free on my 250 rally because i can literally go any where. 700ccs shines more on the street for sure. I can own any motorcycle off the self fortunately because i have a decent job and decent credit now that im older but, i cant have them all at once... I do have 12 motorcycles currently and the Honda rally still stands tall in its own right for sure. No regerts. Now an MT07 on the street is probably just what the doctor ordered for my next one.

Sure np. So they are called HMDR (high mountain dirt riders) they do like 3 different events a year including a family event where you can camp there for like $5 more then the ticket price. They usually have a full enduro hard race and s hair scramble once a year. The family event is cool because they usually have like 3-4 different trails based on age and skill level. For example they had a track/trail my 11 year old could do. Last year in September I went and it was rough, they just got hit with the hurricane and the trails were super muddy and washed out. You would be riding then drop 2ft then there was roots at ground height just to get over them back down to 2ft of mud drop again. They also had some cool rock climbs up the fire cut. 90% was in deep woods. Cool events overall.

My girl wants a 300L badly. That being said. I have an extensive offroad background including GNCC and hair scrambles. I feel as if we need to put her on a CRF230F for at least a couple of months before pulling the trigger on the 300L. Do you have a video on your daughter and her comparison to her bike and would you have been comfortable with her starting out on a 300L? Thnx

In the Netherlands there is only a 20 percent price difference. So when you do the nessecery shock upgrade there is only 10 percent left. This is a nagging situation. And for us we have come to an end. The fuellprices are so fucking high.😬 It is a complete horror. With these prices most of us can hardly enjoy a long trip around several countries. And our governments are going to do all kinds of nasty things that will motorriding impossible. In the UK from 2030 you need to bring your bike bike as it was originally. Using the envirement as excuse. But it is only so poor people have no way out from electric cars. The CRF has a very good gasmilelage. That is something i also have to take in consideration. I also own a 1190r. It is heavy and bloody powerfull. But i love this machine. I can not bring myself to sell it and buy a t7 in place for it. Cause two of these bikes is a bit much. But the new t7 world edition with the big tank is very interesting. But i have read that is will stay as tipsy as the old t7 with the highup tank. And i do not like bikes anymore that are so topheavy. When your doing a 4 week trip alone and you go f.e. to the backcountry of Turkey or Iran. Then a t7 is a bit of a hazerdous bike cause it is so damn topheavy. And with the luggage this will become not any better. I see this as a serious design flaw from Yamaha. Maybe all in all the CRF300 with a suspension upgrade is the far better choice exploring backcountries when you are alone. But it should be a way cheaper bike to purchase in the Netherlands. 9000.00 euro. 1200.00 euro for the suspensionupgrade. A t7 is around 11000.00 euro's. There is something very wrong here. It purpose was a budgetbike for Asia. So 5500.00 euro is more then enough.

Too heavy, complicated to fix on the road in foreign countries. I’m looking for a light (er) sand.. Mud.. Rocks.. bike, gas range is important but also and mainly weight, and easily repairable…parts etc.. 300 Rally w some mods? Or World Raid? I’d much rather spend less but if no choice…. It will be for Mexico and South America travel 40 on road and 60 off… I’m 6’-4” tall..any suggestions please? Thanks!

OK, I understand your reason to compare these "completely different world" bikes - you owned them both. So far, so good. But meh. They really aren't comparable. The one costs the double than the other. Already there nobody will be in doubt which one to choose. But if you want to drive offroad - wouldn't a Lincoln Town Car be a better choise than a 700 Tenere? - They weigh about the same, but the Town Car has a bigger trunk, and you can enjoy the dryness inside, and listen to music on the stereo while climbing the narrow mountain paths. And it has got more wheels. This is good, because the weight class the 700 Tenere belongs in is problematic, should it happen that you fall with the bike. Not good. The Town Car, on the other hand, will not fall over. Should you fall off of the mountain completely - well, you will get badly hurt, or die, in/on both vehicles. What I'm trying to say is: For a good (or bad) off-road experience, it's more relevant to compare the 700 Tenere with a Lincoln Town Car than with a 300L. The 300L on the other hand - should be compared to Yama XT250, or KLX 300 or whatever. Not to a 700 Tenere. But yeah, you owned both bikes, so want to tell about them. Cheers.

Good video I love my T7 but I know my limitations on it off-road which sometimes it feels like the bike is telling me to go there every time. I have had all the drops and picking up drama and of course the bruises from taking it beyond my limits. So this is why the 300L interests me as a second bike. Bottom line is I’m getting old and it’s getting harder to pickup that T7. A lighter bike would be so welcoming. That way I could have the best of both worlds.

Well I think you already have your answer, you already have a good rode bike so the 300L or 300rally should be what you spring for. As for just offroad the 300L is better and you can drop it 1000 times without worrying about cracking the ferrings the rally has. But the rally has better lights and a huge fuel tank getting you a 260mile + range. So all depends what you want to do with the bike. I really dont think the CB500X is a good bike overall, I think it is caught in the middle of a catch all bike and is not really good offraod, but you already have a road bike. Anyway I hope that helps.

We drive smaller cc bikes here, and we have a lot of XR150L, CRF250L, WR155R, XTZ125, KLX250, etc. not just for dual-sport but for daily commuting as well. You don't need to go fast, you just need to glide through the terrains with ease.

Thanks - an accurate video. I think what gets a lot of people is not knowing exactly what they want to do on their bike, even with these sorts of comparisons. I had street bikes and the T7 appealed to me for all the positives that you mention - price, simplicity, capability and reliability, plus the ability to get off pavement. But, as you and others have pointed out, I found out it's not great for technical riding, especially without the skills. Picking it up gets old quick. So I bought a 300L to learn the technical aspects of trail riding and it has helped me improve how I ride the T7. The two bikes are similar yet very different and they complement each other well. If i had to pick between the 2 it would be very difficult, they are both awesome and fun bikes. I grin ear to ear every time I ride either one. Just depends on what I want to do that day. Longer distances - pavement and forest service roads, or having to ride to a trail head and exploring some singletrack or whatever comes along. My advice is to get both :)

@@MotorcyclesOffroad This my experience with the Rally. The stock suspension was terrible and the power was adequate. I weight around 220 without gear and stock suspension was way too under sprung for me but I could still live with it. I upgraded the suspension, went with the YSS front spring and YSS fully adjustable rear, 550 performance ECU, Arrow exhaust and DNA filter it completely transformed the bike . Its now a different machine, the suspension now feels better than the T7. I can now cruise at 75mph while even going up grades, before I could barely keep it at 70 and that was with a tail wind LOL. After the mods I absolutely love the bike. I'm averaging around 70/75 mpg if I ride conservatively and get around 65 if I'm pushing it. I highly recommend doing at least the suspension upgrade if you are a heavier rider. The Rally rides so well now that I'm planning on doing a suspension upgrade to the T7. People might look down upon upgrading a motorcycle but I think upgrades are necessary to suit your riding style. It really improves riding experience. The Rally is a great bike for the money.

Based on distances, I ride 95% on road. Based on time on the motorcycle, I ride 95% offroad. When I talk about % road/offroad I always clarify on what metric I am basing it. In my case I went for a small but very capable XTZ 150 instead of a 300-400 cc road oriented bike (almost same engine sizes as the ones you are comparing but with a factor of 0.5). I chose to be a little more patient the 5% of my time on the highway in order to experience a greater joy when I finally get to ride offroad that other 95% of my time. The distances are long here but it was worth it. Once you get to the mountainous regions you can have endless fun off-pavement. Greetings from Argentina. And watched until the end

The manufacturers are not listening and maybe platforms like KZbin will change that. You’ve got viewership data of those seeking out or those watching this comparison video of two bikes that are very different and yet we’re contemplating where we want our compromise to come to rest. I’ve heard from others about how the supposed unicorn doesn’t exist because our versions of what is a unicorn is subjective. There is validity to that concept and yet you have the data to support what people are seeking based on viewership of videos that support eliminating what they don’t want to compromise on rather than choose what’s available on an otherwise empty market. The 300 rally got so close for me but when I hear from other KZbin content creators that the compromise for this bike is the small motor and its shortcomings on the freeway: I need that capability to transition from trail to home/vehicle so that I don’t feel too vulnerable. Moving on to the Tenere and the compromise there is the weight/bad trail manners. What else is out there with a fairing, Japanese reliability, simplicity yet modern amenities such as fuel injection, been designed this decade, cruise control would be nice, and maybe led lighting.

I dont know exactly what you are trying to say it seems incoherent. I think you are trying to insult me for how much gear I took for my motorcycling trip. I do seem to have as much gear Noraly (itchy boots) as she it traveling much further distance except one huge difference, I have all my camping, and cooking gear. Tent, bedroll, hammock, chain, firebox, camping cookware, ect. Noraly does not cook her own food, Noraly does not need to carry shelter she stays in hotels/Air B&B. These are completely different scenarios her and I. I require much more to travel the way I do.

Good video! I own a T7 and a Husaberg 550, and I really think they are diferente worlds. Would ask for more power in the honda as I think i would miss the big fun of high power and low weight (125kg) of my husa. Keep doing my friend!

T7 is an ADV bike and 300L is a Dual-Sport. Apples vs oranges

A ton of people were asking for me to compare them. I guess I can remake it with the Rally and T7

Thank you, and thanks for subbing. My daughter loves riding, I hope she is still my riding buddy as she gets older. I did a whole video riding with her on the channel and if you saw my Yoshimura exhaust sound comparison video she is the one riding my 300L lmao.

Heart me made it to end. ha ha ha Good comments They are not in same bracket as you noted inside the first 40 seconds of video. I do see the draw of comparing them though.

Interestingly enough I have seen people on youtube go from one sell it to the other in both situations. These seem like the motorcycles that everyone is interested in.

I considered both but came to the conclusion that if i got the crf300l i would have to get a streetbike too. I have limited storage so that was a hard option. I also considered what kind of riding i was going to do and the offroad part of it is not advanced enough to motivate against the t7 so i got myself one. The t7 is top heavy and you will notice when you go slow in the terrain. Tip it over and it will be very hard to lift. I recommend you to install a rear rack so you have something to grab on to when lifting it.

I dropped my T7 in Nemadji state forest with all my gear on it and I could not pick it up by myself.Luckily a guy in a SXS stopped and helped me.
