No one under 50 actually knows what a muscle car is, or for that matter, a sports car (2 seats). You, included. Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Firebirds,, Barracudas, Javelins, 1st gen Cougars, are Pony cars ( because they copy the Mustang formula) Musclecars are mid size sedans with their company's largest V8 engines. A modern equivalent would be a Fusion with rear drive and a 5.0, a Malibu, with a LS, or a Chrysler 200, with the gen 3 hemi. The Charger doesn't fit, because it's no longer a mid size, as the largest car Stellantis makes. I was alive when the Automotive press came up with names for those categories. If young people could read and spell, they might learn that the internet "experts" know nothing about what they speak. Most Chevy guys can't spell Camaro correctly.

Have you ever driven Camaro. visibility is poor.. You can't even see some stoplights if you're at the line.
@hochhaulАй бұрын
The visibility out of the rear was the actual problem. The biggest issue was the ugly interior styling and the mid-cycle refresh that ruined the front end styling. The 6th gen Camaro began to fall short of sales targets because the cost to get a V8 Camaro was thousands more than the cheapest Mustang and Challenger V8 options. The visibility only made things worse. Which was stupid because GM certainly knew that owners had already complained about poor visibility in the previous car. Some 80IQ overpaid executive then decided that what the 6th gen needed was an updated exterior that was much much much uglier but looked more like the ugly Rumblebee car in the latest Transformers movie. Somebody at GM admitted the updated front end was hideous when they decided that the ZL1 would not get an uglified front end but instead retain the original front end that looked good. The 6th gen had a lot going for it in terms of handling and speed, but was held back by poor visibility which made it difficult to use as a daily driver and the interior design looked awful day 1.

I just did a build and price for a base GT with reasonable options ( spare tire, nicer paint, better floor mats, etc ) and came out at $45K. Closer to 41-42K after rebates and discounts. In today's world, that's about as inexpensive as it gets for a V8 car.

Ford has always been able to pivot faster than the other two. It was the main reason they didn't have to take the government bailout years ago. Another sneaker vehicle are the V8 jeeps. While not a car, those older body style grand cherokees are surprisingly fast and handle well with the all wheel drive.

Was considering a mustang for my next car, issue is getting any creature comforts and decent performance upgrades (active exhaust, performance package, magnaride) you end up creeping well past 60k. At that point why not get a Dark Horse? Ford is smart, they know their competition is dwindling in this space. Looking at the mid cycle refresh Explorer ST now!

Why does it have to be such a negative thing? What if people want a mustang but can’t justify it because they have a family. Making a family oriented mustang isn’t such a bad thing. I personally think making the interiors and such more alike would make even more sense. If you don’t like it then just buy the 2 door. It’s pretty simple actually

The question of why Dodge and GM are discontinuing I.C.E. sports cars is easily answered by looking at the performance numbers of the electric vehicles . Even with half the horsepower they are quicker . The numbers are not anyone's opinion , just like the light at the end of any quarter mile racetrack . How can you sell a so called performance car that makes 700- 800hp being out performed by an ev that makes half the horsepower ? So Ford is the fool , because they are trying to on to something that has no purpose .

Okay I’m just kind of laughing here. The Toyota dealership basically has a Chevy showroom floor on their corner with a BMW Supra on the flank. It was excellent of them to make it convenient 😂 Ford needs to quit slapping Mustang on everything. They should dust off the old Taurus SHO nameplate with an updated Lambo style bull or steal the AEV logo with SHO. Take mustang off of the Mach and maybe rename it Cougar or dust off some other nameplate sitting in the parts bin. The Lobo Maverick is a perfect example of this. Ford not putting a wolf 🐺 logo on it will be a crime. Glad Ford is still hanging in there and keeping the V8’s around. The EV market flaws are evident. I have a feeling that the government mandated changes will be restricted or the time frame will be extended. Long live the 5.0!
