Thanks for the update on Ford. The lady also mentioned ev’s not selling, has she never driven by a legacy auto dealer? The lots are full of trucks and cars. No Teslas have an overstock of over 30 days yet a year or more. Tesla has over 30 billion dollars on hand in case they think of something to do with it. Legacy auto manufacturers all have 200 billion $ debt or more adding service on debt of about $8000 a vehicle that has to be added to cost their products. What's worse is gasoline cars burn at a relatively low temperatures compared to lithium battery fires, which burn at over 5,000 degrees and cannot be put out once started, even if you dunk the entire car in water.

I don’t have a problem with Ford introducing Chinese cars, but I would expect the same price. You can buy a Chinese maid vehicle fully equipped loaded for under $20,000 and if you get anything above $20,000, it’s really a prime and exquisite looking car and the CEO knows this But no anything coming in from China. They’ll be 100% markup and the American people are screwed. Depending on the EV from China, it might be a good thing that the CEO of Ford is impressed. He can use the information that he has acquired to make affordable trucks and cars in the USA under the Ford brand. BYD has a pickup truck that is affordable (but needs to be made larger for the US market) and is hybrid. It runs an ICE engine (low displacement) which runs a generator that charges the batteries, which run the electric motors. The truck always has a battery capacity so will always have full electric power when needed. Since you are not using full power most of the time the ICE engine regenerates the battery as you drive. You don't have an issue with range as the ICE motor can just be filled at any service station, but can be plugged in at your home or charger if you want. The other thing with the BYD is that the battery is leased so you don't have to worry about the battery degrading with time, and the company has built the truck so the battery can be removed robotically and replaced when required at the companies expense (since you only lease them, and BYD owns them). It will bring EV (or Hybrid) vehicles into the 22nd Century and will make the Big Three stand up and take notice. EV vehicles can be built and can be profitable if you change your business model to support the customer. The Ramcharger will be the first American made experiment in this direction. Lets hope that the battery lease will also be adopted.

I used to work with a guy over 20 years ago who over his years had been a Ford mechanic. He was all sold out on Ford and always drove a Ford truck. I've noticed over the years that Ford changes their sources for parts and you can tell when the quality suffers. Clips to hold interior moldings for example are weak and break easily in my 2017 Mustang. The car isn't even old, can you imagine how brittle said clips will become after 15 years. Ford headquarters in Dearborn just "mandated" that white collar workers take home a Ford lightening truck and they must drive it to be able to give an assessment as to WHY people aren't buying this truck. My neighbor is an engineer there and took home a Lightening but was having the battery going dead on it every few miles. There are VERY FEW charging stations in and around Wayne County, Detroit. Go figure. Combined with the super inflated price, they are just unable to figure out why no one is buying them. So yes - Ford lots locally and roadways were cleared by giving them on a trial basis to employees. That's right - local rural roads were FULL of parked, brand new, Ford trucks. So was the speedway in Jackson, Michigan. Full of ELECTRIC Ford trucks. Thousands of them.

EV’s work well for some people, but for now the majority of buyers want ICE vehicles. As time goes on and the technology gets better, along with electric grids that finally get updated, more buyers will consider an electric vehicle. Farley should buy a few more and have some of his engineers study them. Remember when we underestimated small cars from Japan? Let’s not let that happen again.

And BTW - at several meetings of executives for Ford in Dearborn, Farley has stated that TOYOTA - his OLD BOSS - make the best cars. HUH???????????

First most of us don't want electric cars second I sure the hell don't want any Chinese made electric fire mobile anywhere near my family property or friends

They bought them Chinese cars to figure out what they were doing differently to make them so cheap. They found nothing really different and still can't make money on American EVs.... BYD looking strong globally without any US sales.

I feel im better off putting my money in my old car rather than pay all that money for a new car. You cant get a new Hyundai for under $35,000.

the reason why the Lightning is failing is because of the range on it. It is literally the worst EV truck when it comes to range. The Chevy EV price is insane but it can do 700KM on a full charge where the Lightning can only do what 400km...

The EV market isn't what you hope it is if you are making garbage. It isn't the EV market, it is Ford.

Legacy auto makers cannot make compelling affordable electric vehicles at a profit. Ford loses $37 000.00 on each Ford Lightning they sell. Only Tesla and BYD are making profits and the Tesla Model Y was the best selling car in the world in 2023 (all vehicles including petrol, diesel and hybrids). Tesla will probably achieve the same result in 2024.
