I had a buddy in Trondheim, Norway, who had a girlfriend that ended up with Lemmy in a hotel room.. He was so proud that she cheated with Lemmy. He actually said something about her in a interview in a newspaper. "Her boyfriend calls me pussy" he said.. My buddy kept that article and showedit proudly around :)

Love Motorhead, been a fan since I first heard them in 1979 - to this day the loudest gig I've been to was Motorhead at the Heavy Metal Holocaust in 1981. Lemmy always said they were Rock n Roll but they were obviously Heavy, Metal, Punk, Blues Rock n Roll. I'm getting my 2nd Motorhead tattoo on Wednesday 🤘

You are absolutly right. The drummer Philthy Animal had a huge punk inpact on Motörhead so the early stuff sound more punk than later material.

My younger brother was into Motörhead but I preferred Lemmy (lead singer) in Hawkwind a space rock psychedelic band 👍

These were the guys who were in at the start of heavy metal. Very powerful and full of energy. Motorhead always called themselves a heavy rock band, but all metal bands developed from them, and they were equally respected by punk rock aficionados. These are REAL musicians. Phil 'Filthy Animal' Taylor developed the use of two bass drums and speed thrash metal drumming. Lemmy played a bass guitar like a lead guitar! Fast Eddie Clarke played superbly sweet lead guitar to absolute perfection. Their sound was unique. Someone once said that this song was a bar fights national anthem. Some said that the drummer needed a new drum kit after this. And yes Punks loved them too. So you were right Dominica. This song is absolutely full of energy. Motorhead were highly respected.

You were very perceptive to pick up on the punk aspect of Motorhead. I remember an interview with them by the NME in Rickmansworth sewage works where Lemmy stated that the band was rooted in rock but had punk energy. During this interview he was drinking Special Brew with Smirnoff chasers, what a legend. RIP.

Motorhead was a very influential rock and roll band with a lot of punk energy. Lemmy as well as saying they were a Rock and Roll not metal always said he aligned himself more with punk than metal anyway, he was very close friends with The Damned, even playing bass for them on many occasions and was just a big fan of Punk in general, he felt less affinity with bands such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest et al

Actually, Motorhead were the archetypal Heavy Metal group with a loyal army of “head badgers” who I saw in Hammersmith, West London. They certainly were not a punk band.

That's the show I never got to see live...had one chance at the Monsters Of Rock in Sao Paulo 2015, but Lemmy felt worse that day and couldn't perform...he would pass away 8 months later, but not before recording and releasing one more studio album

Filthy Animal was what the drummer called himself and i feel he sort of thinking himself as the drummer in Sesamy street. But to be serious i had played drums for a year and played music like Abba, disco Beatles, all cind of music but never metal. I needed to find music that was harder to play as a drummer so i tested Blues and classical but i never liked the energy of it. So i found out about this "new" music called metal at the rtecord store, in those days u actually went and bought records. And the guy in the store told me if i wanted some real metal this is what i should get, so i bought an album with Motörhead and Iron maiden. As soon i started to play these songs i fealt, jesus this is hard and i got cramp in my arms and legs afte just a couple of songs. A year later after playing these and other metal music i was a metal head and started to find more and more, went to play Rush wich was challenging in a different way. I love metal and still today i listen to almost all type of metal.
