The one and only Lemmy Kilmister on bass & vocals, Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor on drums and “Fast” Eddie Clarke on guitar….the iconic lineup responsible for what are probably the most popular Motörhead albums. Unfortunately all 3 of these gentlemen have passed. In the 1980s Eddie Clarke was also a member of Fastway, a band he started with Pete Way, the former bassist for UFO. They were awesome. My personal favourite Motörhead song: Killed By Death. Great reaction, as always.

The incredible energy of this banger reminds me of UK Punk (e.g. The Damned - New Rose, Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Material). I only recently discovered that Lemmy sang lead on the Hawkwind classic - Silver Machine from 1972! Cheers.

Lemmy, Fast Eddy and Filthy Animal, aka Ian "Lemmy" Kilminster (bass and vocals), Eddy Clark (guitar) and Phil Taylor (drums). The power trio that put the POWER into trio. Prior to Motorhead, Lemmy sang with space rock band Hawkwind (you should check out "Silver Machine" with Lemmy singing before his voice was affected so much with all the smoking). "Motorhead" was actually a Hawkwind song as well.

Hey there from Ned in Spain stopping by for the legendary Motorhead. Lemmy was already a raging Rock monster in the mid 1960s band Rocking Vickers just waiting for a band to match his fury. He got called " Lemmy " from when he was a roadie for bands, incl. Hendrix, because he was always mooching money. " Lend Me = Lemmy". After playing guitar and singing in bands like Sam Gopal and bass /voc in Hawkwind he started Motorhead with Pink Fairies guitarist Larry Wallis, Lucas Fox on drums replaced by Phil Taylor. These guys were deep into the "speed" scene and not many people could stand the pace of their partying and relentless gigging. One of the few bands that appealed to both stone Metal heads as well as Punks and Hardcore fans. I got to meet him when I played a Motorhead tribute show which was awesome. He was smart and funny and he did great interviews. Iron Fist, Bomber, Sharpshooter, No Class, Overkill, Love Me Like Reptile, Stay Clean, Metropolis, Like A Nightmare, We Are The Road Crew, Iron Horse, Shoot You In The Back, Killed By Death.....Long Live Motorhead !!!

This was my first real exposure to Motorhead. I am not a musician but sold music at retail for 11-12 years and promoted live concerts (all contemporary jazz) for 7 years. Although other bands have done it (Rush, for example) it seems as if it would be especially difficult for the bass and drums to stay locked so tight when you add in lead vocal responsibility for the bass player. They blew that idea out of the water. Great tune and performance. Thanks for exposing me to this one, loved your comments on it.

Motörhead was formed after Lemmy got kicked fro ma band called Hawkwind. The last song he penned for Hawkwind was a song called Motörhead. Lemmy hated when people called his band a metal band they Played rock and roll at a faster pace. Lemmt would always start the show shouting the words. WE are Motörhead and we PLAY ROCK AND ROLL. Lemmy was the only constant band member in the 80ys. in the mid 80ys Phil Campbell joined the band as a guitarist with Micheal Burston on guitar after Lemmy had fired Brian robertson after only 1 album. Making the band a 4 piece with drummer Pete gill after Phil Taylor got sacked in 1984 as well. Gill left in 1987 making a comeback for Taylor. Taylor got once again sacked in 1992 cause he wasnt taking care of himself and was getting worse behind the drumkit. Mikkey dee joined the band in 1992. Finally giving Motörhead a steady lineup. In 1995 Burston left the band. And lemmy opted to getting back as a 3 piece. Lemmy Phil and mikkey carried on with the band until lemmy his death in 2015. I would like to suggest Motörhead overkill live in 2005 the band in peak form. With a sound to die for kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWHOcotqnLKVnMk

Someone whos been to a Motorhead concert? I can go one better... I saw Motorhead in 1984 at the winter show building in Wellington New Zealand. Not this lineup though, they were a four piece. My mate Steve Elliot was bass player in Strikemaster the support band, so myself and friends got to go backstage after the gig. I got to meet Lemmy who was a total hoot. Also met Phil Campbell and Wurzel the guitarists, but didn't get to meet Pete Gill the drummer, (ex Saxon), but could see him starfished on the floor in an adjoining room for the next half hour... Got Lemmy Phil and Wurzel's autographs on the lining of my leather jacket, that was later stolen and burn't by an ex girlfriend as she knew its value to me, and also got Lems pick from last song, (Louie louie), which I still have to this day, (tortoiseshell dunlop). I rang my mate Steve the next day and told him about the pick and he said I got better than that but wouldn't divulge what, telling me you'll see... A fortnight later we went to see Steve play at a pub gig we had to cancel as our drummer broke his wrist in a motorcycle smash so Steves band filled in for us. As Steve took the stage he tapped me on the shoulder and said block your eyes till the first bass note... Anyway... I put my hands over my eyes, and when I unblocked them, there he was gloating with his new, but used, very familiar looking Rickenbacker 4001 bass... Lucky bastard... I'm happy that I got to have a Jack Daniels with Lemmy, and even happier that 40 years later my mate still has Lemmys bass.

Just imagine a Lemmy/Rob Halford duet, with Lemmy staring at the ceiling and Rob hunched over looking at the floor. They wouldn't even see each other! (I thought Rob spoke well at Lemmy's funeral - RIP, from an old Hawkwind fan). When my wife was (briefly) a secondary school teacher, last day of term they got to vote on a song to listen to. Some boy band won, she said "you're not making me listen to _that,_ how about _Ace_ _Of_ _Spades?"_ - so that's what they did.
