Found this channel a couple of days ago. I'm addicted. I actually love this type of repair more than the modern ones. No wiring diagrams, no scanners or scopes. Just deduction and common sense. Best detective series on youtube

Almost all RV generators require the start button be held until they are actually running - it serves as an oil pressure bypass in that mode since they will normally shut down if the pressure drops down too low. Huge kudos to you for all the troubleshooting and work that you've done for them!

My Dad had a brand new class C on a Toyota chassis. It came from the factory with bad heads and was recalled with around 200 miles in it. The dealer backed it into a building, claimed they could fix it. Pointed out to Dad it would void the warranty, non authorized repair. Toyota dealer was pissed. When they finally got it back, they started on trip. A semi literally drove up their ass and crushed the rear. They traded it in since it had a Black cloud over it. My best friend and I sealed the back until the dealer could work in it. The impact almost ruptured the LP gas tank.

@@mikeholt3545 probably got lucky, the fridge is the only interconnected "ground loop" item I can think of, with exception of maybe the heater, although those are often 12v(blower) and propane heat only. the ground loop on the fridge was at the -12v wire harness tied to batteries and AC power cord ground > breaker panel (has heavy gauge wire bonding to chassis > through backwards wired generator, back to front solenoid. that shop is lucky they didn't burn the whole thing and the shop down

There is no money in reparing. The money is selling new motorhomes.thats why shops do not have electrical techs. Cause there rare and hard to find. And everyshop wants all mechanics to be able to do everything to save money. As you probably know ,mechanics and electrical/ electrical techs are worlds apart.

I'm a radio tech by trade, but you'd be surprised at how many sideline things I end up having to interact with doing this job.... from jail cell door actuation, access control systems, security cameras, jail talkback monitors, all of the electronic gadgets in a new police cruiser (too many to list!) plus everything you'd find at a modern cell tower site - fiber, -48v DC plant, rectifier banks, DC-DC converters/ DC-AC Inverters, low voltage controls.... and then the whole art of radio, telecommunications, etc. But.... running emergency calls on mountaintops sometimes your the first set of 'eyes' or 'hands' on scene to a critical failure.... sometimes that is a generator that won't run - just like this one! TLDR: Adapt and overcome, good job Ivan!

On the headlight switch, to remove the knob, feel the underside of the metal part of the switch. You will feel a small loose pin, push it in. Pull the knob and rod it is connected to out. Now go out and get a new one, lube on the rheostat is not good as it gets hot when the lights are dimmed. That line cord on the fridge took the brunt of the shorted bat lead somehow, I'd be checking the entire feed to that receptacle. Sherwood car audio was never that good. Is that enough armchair critic two sense for ya? Nice work man!
