We love Bakewell and we like the traditional pudding. We visited a couple of years ago when the petrol shortages were on and we found a little old fashioned garage and filling station. We pulled in and it was a serviced pump. The old guy gave us 20 questions before he filled the tank. I think he said he was 88 and had been working the pumps for over 80 years. He said he was looking for a younger woman but my husband said I was already taken! We had a really good laugh with him, he was priceless! Thanks for sharing another interesting video.

Had a similar prang on the caravan a couple of years ago, cost £1500 to repair but that's what insurance is for, was at the start of our holiday so I know how it can get to you but all in the past and moved on, it happens to the best of us. good luck and keep doing what you guys do best, keeping us all entertained from one Northerner to another we are built of hard stuff

The Tiroler Stuberl is a great place to pop into in Bakewell. Great food and we stock up on Austrian food from their little shop in there when we visit as I used to live in Austria. Great vlog, as always guys. Mark and Gill

Shame about the van! !@#IT happens. The Bakewell pudding is the original forerunner to the Bakewell Tart and it was first made as a pudding in Bakewell where its still produced in the traditional way in that shop. Nice vlog .... apart from the damage. Hope you can get it sorted without too much pain in the wallet.

Oooh poor van! Although it looks bad, it's amazing what magic the repair people can do so don't worry about it too much. Bakewell looks lovely and the bakewell pudding is the original. It originated in Bakewell back in the 1800s. It was created following a mishap by the cook at a local inn, who misunderstood the recipe for a strawberry tart and ended up topping her creation with anlmond custard. I dog sit a Jack Russell called Ronnie for my neighbour while they are at work and he loves watching Woody 🙂

Hi. Hope you're both over the shock of the damage. My first trip out in my 7.5 mtr. I lost my rear nearside skirt light. Couldn't see the low-level pipe sticking out from a wall!!! I was sick to the stomach. The bridge with all the locks on is known as the Lovelock bridge. Couples declare their love for each other by placing an engraved lock on the bridge. The carpark on the other side of the love lock bridge is also great for campers, they allow you to park around the edge so you have more room.

Hi theres a bigger car park by the Agricultural centre/ Market hall if you drive through Bakewell towards Matlock on the left as you drive on the A6 , you the walk into Bakewell over the padlock bridge lots more space . Damage is a fill and paintwork blend at a body shop I have seen worse. Happy motoring Steve

Don't knock it till you have tried the Bakewell Pudding, its lovely warmed up :) Im not a fan of the tart and its always an argument which is the most famous and which came first in Bakewell. Glad you got the motor home off the post without too much hassle. Fingers crossed its sorted soon and not mega expensive.

Been there, done that and ten years later sstill sickens me thinking of it. damage looks bad but its not as bad as it could have been had Mark not managed to move the van away. sending big hugs. Trouble with smacking a motorhome is they are very hard to fix and expensive. Rear view camera in a large van is a must.

I’m sure you’re not the only ones to be caught out by the overhang. Always, ALWAYS watch that back end swing the opposite way you’re steering. The lady was bang on; turn your wheels the opposite way from the way they were pointed (so, turn toward the damage) drive forward and you’re off. By the same principle that caused it in the first place! No hole so an easy fix. Trucker here for 38 years….you learn to watch for the overhang. 👍🏻

Have visited a few times and a year or two ago the council wanted to repaint etc. and it looked as if they were all going to be removed by cutting them off. Obviously hasn't happened. We're pretty good at building bridges on these islands of ours so I don't think it'll collapse anytime soon. It would be a good gig for a locksmith but the cost would probably buy a new bridge!

@@NorthernersonTour should take a few hours. I would wait until it's a bit warmer because the filler , primer, paint etc will all dry out a lot faster than in the cold. The Paint sometimes thickens and causes blobs & drips when it's cold too.
