This is a beautiful coach. I could flood you with comments of what I like. My only "negative" comments are: 1. With the exception of the corner cutout, is the mattress a standard size that you can get standard linen? 2. I wish the rear lounge area could be transformed in a bigger, two adults bed. In a long trip, you will need sleep at the city in a stealthy way. It will be complicated or prohibited to sleep in a car. For a couple is almost perfect. But it will be great a longer version for a family of 4. Meaning 2 additional seats in the rear with seatbelts, a the lounge to become a queen size bed.

If you were in the market with £200k, then RP Motorhomes, would come-out on top. This just looks top-heavy (Like an old UK Military Land-Rover Ambulance) that could easily roll, especially in high winds! Personally, would rather buy a normal branded Camper Van (Say a Swift Carrera), spend £30k, with suspension, wheels, hydraulic self levelling, lithium & solar upgrades, wifi, additional lights with roof-rack as a sitting area on top & still have the perfect van for off-grid living. At least it would be around £100k with all upgrades (The other £100k saved, you could use as your travel budget!). Oh yes, that is what I've done! The market for this does not make much sense, though as another viewer commentated, Hymer are betting on the possibility some out there will go & buy this thing! Good luck!

Not sure why it looks any more top heavy than any other 4x4 Sprinter - they're all tall. Hymer has invested a huge amount to build this and the sales are already proving the demand, as well as resulting in extra sales of other Hymer models

I feel you are being disingenuous. Yes you save your money. Well done. Firstly you never knew you were saving that money and then whilst you are happy with what you have, this Hymer has genuinely created innovations I have not seen combined into one vehicle. Have you got the auto insulated roof? Have you got bespoke off grid vehicle with DG Glass, and built in protection bodywork? The table is one of the best ones I have seen in a MH. The money is in the detail, technology and hymer quality that I can’t quite imagine any Swift quality regardless of spending the upgrades can never get anywhere near that product. End of…you are happy and saved 100k you reckon but personally wouldn’t want the grief creating what you’ve got when this hymer is done and finished.

The Hymer website is incredibly confusing. The configurator says it can have 4 belted seats and that it's 4 berth, but when you go to the configurator it only allows 2 belted seats (driver and front passenger) and there's no mention of where the additional 2 berths go (I see from your video the sofa at the rear can fold into a bed but there's no mention of it anywhere on the website). This vehicle is exactly what my wife and I would like to buy but we need it to fit our son too and although the spec says that's possible, the configurator seems to disagree. Any clarification would be appreciated.

@@MotorhomeCampervan Thanks for the suggestion. With the Hymer I can kind of see where the money goes. There's a lot of innovation resulting in great practicality which no doubt cost a lot to develop. RP's just (to me at least) seem like generic semi-offroad motorhomes with an inexplicable markup. I think the solution is likely going to be getting an Iveco Daily 4x4 based motorhome from one of the plethora of European manufacturers building on them at the moment.

What’s not to like? It would be nice to see accessories though. An insulated dark cover to wrap around the elevated sleeping area that also reduces outdoor noises. Slimline Cup holders that slide out from below table tops. The prototype first shown a few years back had a pull out kitchen/BBQ hidden behind the pull out table. Don't think they should've deleted that outdoor kitchen. Regarding the stairway to the master bedroom, I don't know about that. Is that really a clever use of interior space? A standard ladder would work just fine. I even think they should consider doing a 1 story version, without the loft but with a lifting bed above the lounge. Ditching the loft would free up extra height inside, so that the lounge is usable. I would prefer that over the flip top.

What an amazing vehicle using some of the ideas like the drop down back from 'House Trucks' from the seventies. You forgot to mention when you open the draw to the right hand side of the kitchen this has a slot in top which adds a wing to increase work top area. Will be interesting to see other manufacturers adapting their ideas from the old boring designs and bringing new innovation to the market. When we see the amazing modern boat and aeroplane designs today which optimise space and make them look beautiful it's only then you realise how old fashioned 99% of motorhomes are. Notice the curvacious look of the whole vehicle which makes it look very attractive. Having only designed one motorhome which had fold up a roof terrace for 20 people used the same principle. The idea being a woman's curvacious body, therefore the more curves and flowing lines you design into a vehicle the sexier it looks. Looks like this principle has been applied throughout the Venture S at every possible opportunity with outstanding success so congratulations to all the designers who have worked tirelessly and achieved near perfection...

I was totally taken back by the outside. What an amazing vehicle. Not impressed with the inside at all you would think for that price they could do better with counter space and creativity. Just a big corporation trying to make big bucks off of something simply put together not worth the money. Just my opinion.
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
I actually doubt if Hymer will make much profit at all from the Venture S - just think of the huge investment in unique parts. Remember the size of the 'van - only 6.5m long, too. Maybe you'd prefer the much cheaper ML-T Crossover?
@davidcambell4183 Жыл бұрын
A real showcase vehicle but the limited numbers will mean you don't get the value of economies of scale. To get some perspective This is only about £40k less than a brand new Rolls Royce!!!!! It would be interesting if they could somehow use the latest LR Defender as a base for a camper for off road use......
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
Yes, but a Rolls Royce isn't a 4x4, doesn't have a bathroom, or a bed... I'm sure someone will build a camper on the new Defender (there were conversions on the old one) but it's too small and won't have the payload for a proper motorhome.
@petrstolz5788 Жыл бұрын
As much as I love interior design, I'm unsure about the pop-up top. I have spent many nights in 4x4 campervans in the mountains with high winds blowing so much I thought the car would take off, with the whole car shaking like crazy. I don't know what are their specifications for max wind deployment for the top. I would be worried be in it in a windstorm. 320Ah lithium is also on the small side these days. With the power draws most people have, and with the small solar on this van, this will be empty very quickly. No world about insulations of water tanks, batteries heating, etc.
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
Both water tanks are inboard, so fully winterised

I preferred the other Mercedes 4x4 that you took on that off road coarse I'm not a fan of those elevating roofs. That said it's an awesome van albeit a tad expensive!
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
This isn't like other elevating roofs, with its double skin, pneumatic operation, etc.

Good review of a concept. In reality is it really worth almost 3 times (3 vans) of a not too dissimilar practicable panel camper van though? Only 2 passenger seats as well yet pos 4 berth ? Like the drop down back idea my better half would get the seat though ! Thanks R 😅
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about three times, remember that this is a 4x4 Merc - twice? Yes, it's expensive but the investment from Hymer must have been HUGE to get this into production.

🤔 Cassette toilet is too small to stay off road more than 2 days. At $250K price tag, Hymer should have an incinerator toilet, or at least the option to put in something else.

I agree - it's pricey but incredible! One thing, though, these 4x4 Sprinters are much more capable off-road than you'd expect

Keep in mind: you say it's very stable and no rattles, but wait until you load it up to travel. It will sway and rattle like any loaded RV. Nonetheless it's an amazing design and I'd luv to have one in a couple years.
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
It was loaded up for travel, albeit just for me. You need to pack plates etc tightly so they don't rattle and keep anything heavy low down, so as not to impair weight distribution.

Wow what a great review Peter or should I say Mr Clarkson. I have loved this vehicle since I first saw it , it reminds me a little of a Unimog. I would have one in a heart beat but that 200k is my retirement fund to go touring in our CV40 when it finally arrives. Is there any ventilation in the roof tent other than the panoramic door? Cheers K.
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
If I had the money (and only needed two seatbelts), this would be very tempting for me, too. What an amazing vehicle. In the roof there's that huge flyscreen vent at the end of the bed (open as much or as little as you want) and a small rooflight up front
@IMHAVINHOOPS10 ай бұрын
It’s certainly stylish and very impressive. But ultimately I don’t think I could live with it long term. Pop up roofs just don’t appeal to me and the lounge area is just too small. All of this is irrelevant of course, because I don’t have £200,000 lying around to buy one anyway😄

Very nice van, but best part of 200k and you don’t even get an awning. Vastly over priced versus other offerings, the extras are silly money. £7k for a paint job😂 But, I’m sure there will be plenty waiting with their wallets…

I've noticed they mention solar panels and lithium batteries but never say how long all this power will last off grid let's say you only cook twice a day and leave your fridge on all the time isn't there at least a rough estimate to how many hours you have
@MotorhomeCampervan Жыл бұрын
Hard to put figures on it. How sunny is it for the solar? How hot, for the fridge to work against? What are you cooking, and how long for? Here, you should be able to have a few days off grid. You usually run out of toilet capacity before you run out of 12V power
@tonydoherty2190 Жыл бұрын
@@MotorhomeCampervan so basically when it's sunny for a few days and then cold for a few days try each weather's in your garden and try both extremes of weather and get an estimation
