⚠ Updates: *Cruise control in reserve* It is supposed to work in reserve - TVS sent us a video showing us that it does. *Cruise control in Rain Mode* TVS says they're checking why it didn't work in Rain on our test bike - _because it is supposed to._ However, the documentation that came along with the motorcycle does mention clearly that on both stock and IMU-equipped models, Rain, Track and Supermoto modes do not have cruise control enabled, only Urban and Sport do.

I started test Riding Last year in August with Speed 400 followed by RTR 310 , then Scrambler 400x then Interceptor 650 then at Last continental 650 and New Himalayan 450 . Man!!!! It was confusing in Beginning but as I kept riding different segments i got to find my kind of Motorcycle which Himalayan. ➡️RTR 310 has Character but As Shumi said it has Lot of Vibes. ➡️Speed 400 feels Power packed but It feels Bland after 100-110. ➡️Scrambler Is something i liked very much so much close to what I want. ➡️The Interceptor 650 which i rode felt less connected Handling wise and wobbly after certain speed. ➡️Continental 650 was something i enjoyed thoroughly But suspension and Tyares still something i wasn't comfortable with. ➡️Himalayan Felt as Good as Scrambler and Then some it just Flies , There are Vibes but not much Bothersome as RTR and Feels as Light as scrambler 400x. So finally Last Week i Booked Himalayan 450 , I am soo excited😊 So take Shumis word And Test it for Heck of it And You will find Best Bike For Yourself.

I bought a pulsar 150 IN 2010 when I was dreaming about rtr 160. That is how good tvs has been. I remember how gutsy of a bike 160 was. And then rr310 was launched. Damn what an attempt. Had me believing that 10 years down the line (today), there'd be a 600 cc behemoth. That" was" the expectation from tvs' legacy. COMPLETELY agree with you both when you say about transition and how complex introspection and comprehension, that too, at an organisation level is. Would still wish for the tvs to make a standout product. I do wish a similar for Bajaj. And a ktm like stint back in 2013's would be a dream come true from these home grown brands.

TVS really peaked at the RTR200 4V, a phenomenal motorcycle, sounds great, handles brilliantly and is still one of my favourite bikes. The only reason I wouldn't buy one is the service experience. I own a rtr 200 bs6. Wonderful machine. Not without its flaws. Being a machine i expect it to have flaws. What I can't digest is the specialists responsible to fix those flaws are not really specialists. It's been 22000 kms and there's this constant humming noise at idle rpm which increases as u open the throttle. It started from last 500kms, and took it to tvs service center, clearly explained them the issue and they said they wuld look into it and fix. They take the bike in, did the general service and I get a call saying bike is ready. I go chk the bike only to notice that nothing has been solved. All they did was change the engine oil, lube the chain and wash the bike polish it. Although they did tell me they hv inspected the engine head and adjusted "things ", the humming noise exists. The only seemingly valid answer i got from the technician was that it's the nature of rtr engine, its the noise from the timing chain, but clearly the its just been 500 to 600 kms after the noise started. And I had another technician who told me that, " the bike has got a water wash, water wuld have seeped in , once the engine heats up water will evaporate and the noise will be gone ". This is from a so called tvs official technican 😂. So clearly iam done with tvs not bcz the product isnt good only bcz the after sale support is quiet non existent. And to say tvs service isn't cheap. The official schedule requires my bike to turn up for service once in 3 months. And in average its a 1000 rs bill which is always more considering the oil they use needs to be replaced every 2500 kms.

Their service is one such major reason why they're not getting more customers rn Even today I've felt this bike to be very premium even after coming from the KTM showroom after sitting on a d390, as a product it's a good tech loaded bike if speed isn't the only thing we need. But this service experience plays a major role in leaving this bike aside from list even if I liked it initially.

I have been riding this bike for the past 3 months. I completely agree with the temperature control seat being very uncomfortable. I have changed my seat to a regular seat and it is very comfortable now. I have the suspension adjusted (with the service center help, I didn't do it myself) and I don't feel that suspension is stiff. It wasn't bad to start off anyway. Performance, feel and the other discussions in this video are on point but I just like the bike for what it is. For me it is AWESOME. And I might be the only guy saying this. TVS service has been really good for me. The helped with the seat discomfort issue and in general service and service updates. I owned a RTR 2004v previously and back then the service experience was pure 💩, but now it has been good. Hope it lasts long.

I have one RTR 310 (Base black with quickshifter) from past 5 months and 6600 kms later I can really confirm that Shumi's observations are exactly in line with me. I really think that the base variants are much more bang for buck compared to the top of the line BTO spec variants as they are priced more in line with the likes of Duke 250 and CB300R and offer all the useful features like Quickshifter and Cruise control without losing anything crucial for performance. TVS service needs to improve a lot as it's really bad. Amazing content as always though🔥

Great informative conversation..... I am a proud owner of tvs Apache since last 15 years... I had Orange tvs apache RTR 160 fi version which was launched in 2008, back then it was a bold move by tvs to put fuel injection in a 160 cc motorcycle... But the market was not ready for such technical change because people have to pay more for the same CC motorcycle... I rode my RTR fi for more than 2.5 lac kms... Still have it in my garage... It was way smoother than any other carburettor varient motorcycle, had better fuel economy and way better sound.... But the company discontinued this variant after just one year. And now every other bike is having fuel injection system... I bought Apache RTR 200 4v bs6 6 months back... And it is significant improvement in terms of fit and finish, and its engine is a Gem 💎 It too have few technologies which people may consider gimmick but what tvs is doing is setting a target for other companies and for themselves as well... What indian mass motorcyclists want is the value proposition... If they have made RTR 310 just 40k or 50k cheaper, their sales would have set new milestones.... I would love to see if tvs can make BMW's marvelous engine and their technology to reach more people in future.... Because in the end tvs is a INDIAN BRAND not a European sales person.... Love you guys... Keep posting such videos, i wish shumi to add few short clips from his riding experiences to these videos... ✌🏻😇

I cannot agree more. I've owned the RTR 180 since 2015 and still stays with me back home in India. After 80 kmph on a highway, the bike feels its doing a lot of stuff. I am running a BMC air filter as the only mod with Michelin grippy tyres for the odd size it comes with. I can say that despite being new, old, carb or FI it still feels a lot mechanical. I still love the feel and hence haven't sold it yet. This was the main reason for me to source a used Gen 2 Duke 390, a used Z800 and then a used Z900 to enjoy these bikes for what they are. I still ride the RTR when am back home in India. So it depends on what the user wanted back then but then again, today we have tried and tested much more refined bikes above and below this bike.

The main concern is if TVS service can support the range of electronics provided. There is only 1 showroom with a display RTR 310 in the whole of bhopal and that too is heavily abused by "Reviewers" and since they remove the speedo wiring. The odo is still at 8kms & the audacity to blatantly lie about it and not decrease the price is insane (i crosschecked the chassis no. from the videos & the actual bike).

Tbh I agree with the TVS experience, but it's mostly limited to the relatively newer chains. The old stalwarts maintained their quality. The upbit remains the company is extremely responsive to poor service complaints and other options are given and the request is catered to. The company therefore seems serious on the complaint. Something I have never seen when we complain on Honda or Hero, Bajaj is a different issue altogether so not including them into the comparison.

Another top notch MotorInc First episode! It's a bit suprising to see the direction TVS are taking! Also after watching so many of your videos, yesterday, I went take a test ride of the Triumph Speed 400, RE Hunter 350 and RE Meteor 350. I just wanted to share my experience and ask a few doubts in case either Shumi or Karthikeya stumble upon this comment. 1) Triumph Speed 400: Having heard so many positive views including those on the MotorInc First episode for the Speed 400, I was extremely keen to test ride this bike. And when I rode it, it was instantly likeable. The seating position wasnt extremely comfortable but it wasnt something I would complain about. The bike is eager to accelerate and is yet happy to cruise around calmly in low gears. It was compact and it ticked most of my boxes. I never rode a motorcycle above 150CC and I was quite nervous about the Speed 400. However the bike never felt intimidating. As Shumi said, vibrations do creep in at around 6500rpm but in Mumbai roads in the evening, i could never maintain those RPMs long enough to see how uncomfortable it could be for me. The suspension setting was however extremely comfortable. As somebody who would rarely gun their motorcycle, I feel the vibration issue won't be a bother for me. The Triumph showroom staff were quite responsive and were eager to make a strong pitch. One thing that caught my attention was they said that the prices may be raised very soon and urged me to make a booking (refundable). Overall, the Speed 400 makes a great first impression and RE had work to do to sway me away. 2) RE Meteor 350: After the great experience at Triumph, I visited the RE Showroom and the difference was instant. While the Triumph showroom was very sparsely populated with customers, the RE showroom was overflowing with them. It took a little effort to get somebody's attention and book a test ride. However once they booked the test ride, the staff were helpful. I am somebody who has ridden the Avenger 150 Street quite a while ago, and the riding position of the Meteor 350 instantly reminded me of my Avenger Steet. The longer I rode it, the better it felt. The J series engine is surprisingly likeable and is at its best calmly thumping away at moderate speeds with absolute ease. I really liked the Meteor 350 but it did feel a bit heavy for me. 3) RE Hunter 350: As somebody who is 5'4", the Hunter 350 is something I was really looking forward to, given its compact dimensions. Surprisingly however, I didn't feel comfortable in its riding position and found it a wee bit aggressive for my liking. However there was nothing to complain about the engine and the performance, it was just another J Series engine, happily thumping away. Overall, I didn't gravitate towards it due to the seating position. As I was just strolling around in the showroom admiring the RE Shotgun 650 and the new Himalayan, my eyes fell on the RE Bullet 350 Golden edition. It was a beauty to behold but I was apprehensive to test ride it as I was always intimidated by the Bullet and the Classic. Upon my friends insistence, I bit the Bullet (pun intended ;-) ). 4) RE Bullet 350: The moment I began riding the Bullet 350, I was surprised at how uncomplicated the motorcycle is. It was comfortable, a very nice riding position, and was happy to chug along without asking you to keep revving, and at the same time wasnt shy to pick up the pace if needed. As somebody who 3 minutes ago was intimidated by the Bullet 350, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed riding it. The suspension was decent as well and leaps and bounds better than the RE Hunter 350. Overall, I really liked it, but the weight was challenging for me at times while trying to park or move the motorcycle from parking. As somebody who is more inclined towards the Avenger Steet style cruiser-like seating position, I quite enjoyed the Meteor 350 and also liked the Bullet 350. The seating position on the Triumph Speed 400 wasn't an issue, but sadly the Hunter 350 did bother me. I am now slightly confused as to which motorcycle to choose. My mind says the Speed 400. At 2.33 lakh ex showroom, it feels value for money and something that is calm yet sporty. However, after riding the Meteor 350 and the Bullet 350, I am really attracted to the J Series engine and the riding position of the Meteor 350 and the pure motorcycle experience on the Bullet 350. I do have an issue with my right knee and ankle due to chronic injury and the weight of the Meteor 350 and the Bullet 350 did seem concerning to me. Could you help me with any suggestions on what points to further consider to help me make my decision and perhaps give your suggestions on what other motorcycles I could consider? My primary use case will be commuting in the city and an occasional long ride every few weeks. Your content has inspired me to get back to riding motorcycles after a gap of nearly 6 years. I know this is a long post but I will be extremely grateful for your views and suggestions! Thanks in advance!! Please continue posting awesome automotive content and thank you for the uncompromising quality.

Hey @mrkszz! We loved reading this comment! So much thought in there! We always say choose the motorcycle your heart prefers over the one your mind recommends - it works out better. That seems to mean the M350 or the B350 for you. The primary choice you're making is the riding position, the Bullet will be more comfortable. We're not sure about the extent of your injuries but if you pay extra attention when you're coming to a stop, you can learn to favour the other leg and get around the weight of the bike.

I was on my toes waiting for Shumi's review of RTR310. Alas, I couldn't wait anymore and bought the RTR310 Dynamic variant before the review dropped. Interesting observation after around 4k KMs, don't go for the top spec off the chart, instead get the adjustable suspension option. Added benefit of a TPMS will surely help in the longer tours. The adjustable suspension is actually way too easy to bring the ride quality back to the comfort pack. Yes, THE BIKE IS LOUD, only bothers when revving at low speeds but at high speed on highways, there is no issue of noise hitting the rider. 4 years late into the market, but not bad for someone who wants an aggressive beginner bike. Thanks Shumi and Karthikeya for the amazing sessions that you guys put up! Much love ❤️❤️❤️

When I saw this bike, my first impression is that TVS really wanted to compete against the Duke 390 and then they decided to build a naked version of the rr310. So they called the engineers and built its naked version by giving some new electronics which bikes like Multisrada has. In terms of design, it looks like some Chinese company created a cheap replica of Duke 390. And also I want to add this, they (TVS) delayed the live launch vid further and my impression is that if the launch vid didn't go well, then the bike itself isn't gonna be good.

I've loved this format and I've said this so often. The other thing which I really appreciate is that these guys call a spade, a spade. If there's something about a bike (or a car) that isn't so good, they call it out and that's what we the public want- honesty. Some of the other (auto jurnos/ reviewers) seem too indebted to the auto companies and it comes out in their reviews.

As an owner of an apache rr 310 the bs6 version here are some keen observation 1. I live in Bangalore and according to me there is only one good service centre and they are really good at it 2. RR310 is at a really good spot in my opinion i have done a 800Km round trip in one single day and it was quite comfortable its pepier than an sf250 and a comfortable compared to an rc390 3. Tvs really wants to look after its premium customers they have something known as an AMC package which covers your labour charge for 2 services so on the labour charge itself you would be saving 1600. They give you discounts upto 15% on parts and they cover all the electronics, injectors, ignition coils, one way clutch. So it is easy on our pocket if something goes wrong and the AMC COSTS YOU ONLY 1600 RS 4. The rtr 310 customers recently had a camp where there ecu were updated and the handel bar barends were changed to dampen the vibration extra vibration dampening materials were placed below the tank so now the vibrations can be compared with an rr310 5. TVS is not only selling us the product but also organises track events where we can upskil ourselves and this event really helped me. 5. Tvs provides you an unlimited km rsa if something goes wrong with your motorcycle or if you have met with an accident If anyone is planning to get one i would say go ahead but please do not fall for these bto options they are of no use

Thank you for sharing @saismaran5464. Glad to hear that you're having a good time with the RR310. Most of the advantages that you have listed here seems to come down to the one good service centre that you have access to. I've been looking for some standard parts like a turn indicator, handle bar end and a new gear lever assembly because my friend dropped the bike while going out of our parking (quite steep incline). It's been 2 months now, still no one responds even 3rd party garages cannot fix as TVS folks will not let us buy those parts individuals and wait times for these parts is already 3-4 weeks, won't even accept full payment upfront as per what 3rd party service people told me. It's a RTR 200 and the same parts are shared by RTR 160 4v as well. Am now looking to get it fixed as soon as possible and sell it off.

I can confirm the TVS RR310 service issue. I bought my motorcycle from Bangalore and then later moved to Hyderabad and I tried about 5 service centres since 2019. The service cost isn’t high for TVS but I’m too frustrated at how well they service the bike and most importantly how much they are not accountable with ordering parts when required. The latter was so bad that I eventually ended up ordering parts myself online from 3rd party platforms and go to service centre with them! I’m 32 now and at this point in life where I value my time more than money - hence thinking of upgrading to a premium brand for better service experience. However, I’m extremely pleased with my riding experience and the built of the bike.

Taking delivery day after tomorrow on gudi padwa (apparently no waiting period, no one seems to be buying it in Navi Mumbai 😊) I have to admit, if it wasn't for Shumi (watching all his videos) I would have probably got the speed 400. When Shumi says.. "Ride the RTR 200 ride the entorq 125, they are phenomenal".. I cannot agree more. Recent I have the fortune to ride a Ntorq at the hills of Sikkim. The things that the small scooter can pull off is Phenomenal. I was so so impressed with that. The Ntorque impressed me more than some bigger bikes. Everything about the product be that the power, suspension tuning, sound, equipment and features is just spot on it's an all rounder. It takes a team of really enthusiastic team of engineers make this kind of brilliant product. Sad to see the company take this kind of a pivot. I really think this pivot started from the Ronin, now it is effecting other products.

I actually applaud TVS for their bold attempts despite no sales. Its just that this bike doesn't make sense on the BTO platform. I am pretty sure this project wasn't approved by BMW. One reason they probably had to execute all their ideas on rhe street fighter and not the GS. TVS needs an Adventure Tourer and off-roader. That is where I would be happy to pay for all these electronics. Spending 20 lakhs for a bike with all electronics that can hardly be enjoyed in Indian conditions, I would rather be happy to pay for a smaller bike that I can tour on tension free and pay a premium for all those electronic goodies. Basically, the Multistrada Mono but still affordable in a sense. The 'premium' brands are just looting based on software and electronics that they don't even develop (mostly from Bosch). TVS just threw the rtr 310 in their faces saying ',this is how it is done'. The Hardware and mechanicals are still the the differentiators. Software and electronics are just icing on the cake.

My experience with TVS service: We have three motorcycles at home, a TVS Ronin is one of them. The sales experience was great. The service experience is terrible. Parts take weeks and months to arrive and are absurdly priced. Responsiveness is zero. Most importantly, the service technicians fill the feedback form that the customer should be given. You get a message saying “thank you for 5 stars”. So the upper management never gets to know about this probably. Compared to the bajaj and the Royal Enfield (two other bikes at home) the service is orders of magnitude more expensive and much worse. There’s something weird about the Ronin as well. The rear suspension is theoretically adjustable for preload, but the preload adjustment is blocked by the battery and some panels so you need to take it to the service Center for adjustment. Insane! Sorry for the long comment, but I’d be careful before making a TVS purchase. Great engines, great suspension, but terrible service and repairability. The aforementioned service centers are in Bangalore.

@motorinc Update after a long time (Model: Mid yellow variant with quick-shifter without any kits) Loving this bike - TVS had a camp and they did update the engine tuning and foam inside the tank and handle end weights, it does feel better than before and I feel like the vibration issue everybody talks about is blown way out of proportion. It genuinely never bothered me. Is it there? Yes if you look for it It is never soo strong that it's ruining the riding experience It does put a smile on my face every time I ride it - Got the stock TPMS module and charger kit installed Getting my hands into those accessories was lets say not easy - quickshifter tpms and cruise control and tc actually work consistently and reliably - suspension for highway stability is nice but little on the stiffer side for indian roads, (i am a little underweight and i haven't adjusted preload for mine so thats there) - headlight there is no competition (dynamic headlights they say never noticed any difference😂) - connected features are a nice touch for longer rides. I do not use it for daily commuting as it's just not worth the time to open an app and connecting - Pillion comfort is horrible - The rear mudguard is useless so much so that it splashes mud to the back of the pillion and their legs - Mileage 😂 but you wouldn't be looking at this bike if you ever cared about it regardless Overall a great purchase for myself and I am very happy Not for the poor soul who decides to sit behind me for an extended period of time

I was expecting a lot from this as I got to know that the engine has been re done slightly, I thought the refinement level might have increased but that is not the case I think, was looking forward to the cooled seat because of our climatic conditions. I thought it would be a great touring bike but again tvs let us down, I don't have any issue with linear power delivery, I prefer it actually. For me refinement till 100kmph is a mandatory, I don't care if it starts vibrating after 100 as I mostly cruise at 80 and go till 100 for overtakes, hence scrambler 400x is the bike I will go for personally if I am in the market for a tourer. I was a huge dominar fan till the scrambler was launched.

A wonderful episode, Kartikeya and Shumi...I can relate to the points made..Vibrations ..the 310s....TVS ...The Vibrating System? Naah, it used to mean "The Very Special" ones...about that comment by Shumi about a bike getting into perfect cruising mode...I had the first model Ind-Suzuki AX100...and at the same time, my RD350..the RD was also straining at the leash, you had to be accelerating or braking...the Suzuki, a fraction of the power, but highway riding, it was simply in a zone at 80,(remember it was the '80s, no divided highways, so that was about as fast as you could safely ride)...the smoothness, awesome...it was the bike I selected out of these two, to ride from Pune to Delhi in 1989.. and another point, I have noticed....have you noticed, as I once did, that the engines of scooters feel infinitely much much smoother than bikes of almost any displacement? I realised that when after many years, I got myself an Activa, to join my RD and my first gen Pulsar 150 DTSi...a ride out to the old Katraj ghat in 2003 on the Activa seemed an eye opener...about the TVS speciality of engineering prowess, and the success of the Apaches, the apparently confused clutter of gimmicky additions can, with residual vibrations, keep the buying public away..I really wish TVS the best, a proud heritage, a wonderful company...thank you both for this wonderful episode, as I said at the outset...

Need insight: I thought naked were almost always designed to be more aggressive than the faired counterpart because it is geared more towards a faster acceleration than top speed (think of MT15 vs R15). So why was it surprising that the naked 310 from TVS is more aggressive?
@motorinc6 ай бұрын
Because you lower gearing for nakeds assuming that other parts of the equation - in the case of the 310s, refinement - are in a good place. The 310s have never been refined enough, but no one's complained of them being slow. So lowering gearing with a negative impact on the weak part of the picture is a strange choice to make.
