The Hero Xtreme 125R is a product that promises the economy of a 125, the sporty feeling of a 150, so sort of like the TVS Raider, then. Shumi and Kartikeya are discussing Hero's premium 125cc motorcycle on MotorInc First.
~
MotorInc First is a discussion between experts Kartikeya Singhee and Shumi (Shubhabrata Marmar), co-founders of MotorInc on new vehicles. Each episode will discuss one vehicle in great detail, covering the experience of driving or riding it, as well as what it means for the industry.

I had purchased tvs raider 125 and it's running well. With the 3 valves the pickup is good and with the air and oil cooling system the engine doesn't get overheated in long drive. GTT technology also useful in traffic. Suspension is on mid side both stability and comfort are available. But single channel ABS is a big miss in TVS Raider. By applying front break more and rear break 40 to 50% the breaking will be good without any skidding. Comfortable for families too in long run But the single channel ABS, LED lights and tyres are good in Hero Xtreme 125R

The Raider would definitely be my pick of the 125s, purely from a product standpoint. Typical TVS strengths of style, performance and pizzaz! But the horrible first hand experience with their SVCs would make me think more than twice to go for a TVS product again, no matter how good it is.

Been waiting for the video since I saw the timer on Shumi's Instagram yesterday!❤ As an owner of a TVS Raider, looking at the launch of the Xtreme 125 did come as a surprise as hero's attempt to take on the Raider. I did feel that Hero went a little too overboard with the design, it could've been a bit less janky and busy, because currently it looks like the design is more at emphasis than the performance. The Raider in contrast feels more balanced. The body panels are big but don't make you feel like you're sitting on a baby elephant. Overall, personally, if the design would've been a little more subtle, (and not felt like an attempt to mimic Duke's extra sharp and happening design), it would've been more to my liking, which my sweet baby Raider does extremely well! Motor Inc giving us the realest views and reviews of the vehicle world is why I'll never stop coming here!❤❤

Funnily the biggest issue I had heard from 4 people who own tvs raider was it hits the bottom on potholes and breakers.....after driving it, it was surprisingly a actual thing (not a issue for me but I get people getting spiky about it especially if they use it as workhorse), there are some odd issues as long term drive showed for some I hope hero does little better with xtreme and well is more refined, fingers crossed when it lands Thanks for content, enjoyed it as I was cooking.

I dont even care if this is 125cc or 100cc as long as it looks good enough and is comfortable and convenient..

The 150-160cc segment has become expensive today and is no longer the value proposition it once was 10-20 years ago. There is a clear lack of sporty, feature packed, and affordable bikes with the exception of Raider and watered down Pulsars. This is why the Xtreme 125R was created. This is what Hero should have said.

Recently, i have been looking for Fz-25 or unicorn or hornet on OLX, yesterday I heard about the Xtreme 125R and this looks promising, especially in the budget and Hero nails the ride quality, so this would be good for 50kms round trips to office or college. Getting this as a new bike seems like a better deal than a 3-4 year old used bike.

i am the bike nerd of the family (i am 18 now) and when The Raider just came out, my family was looking for my brother's first bike and I recommended it to my brother because of Shumis vid on Power Drift. since then the bike has held up quite well I think, idk if this is a wide spread issue on raiders or its just on this raider but over big bumps with pilions the main stand scrapes the bump and there are two pannel gaps, this was the first lot so ig you win some you loose some, TVS service in Kolhapur is good but prices are quiet high (haven't gone there myself), also this was the first bike that we both learned how to ride on.

I recently bought one. It's been a week and I have done around 500km on it. It's a good bike. It's light, and it's easy to handle it in traffic and at the same time you feel confident. On highways it's stable, it's predictable and you can easily cruise at 60-70kmph with a decent fuel economy. You can go above 70, till 100 but it's a small engine so I will personally not recommend going on such speeds. The quality levels are decent. As compared to TVS raider, I feel raider is better than this bike in terms of build quality but this feels big. You can get a fuel economy of 55-60 easily. I am getting the same considering my bike is new and still have to go for its first service in next 2-3 days. The only irritating part of this bike is false neutral. Other than this, I am happy with my purchase. Will share my service experience in next 2-3 days.

I feel many manufacturers are trying to explore the void price range between the commuter 125s and 150s. Like Shumi mentioned it seems lame to be a reason but from a customer stand point there's a premium offering at the same dealership. Here's a list I've observed of basic vs premium Bajaj- Pulsar 125 & NS125 Hero- Super splendor & Xtreme 125 Honda- Shine & Shine SP Tvs Raider had an ex cousin in phoenix but discontinued. Yamaha had Saluto but the og Gladiator was a benchmark. Cheers to all those potential 125cc bike customers.

Excellent!!, One question- Who is Hero targeting with this one? I mean a youngster having a little budget will always go for a 160cc. And people who really buy 125cc, the styling is a bit overdone for those mature audience. The Raider and Shine sells because of their safer and not 'In The Face' designs.

Im tempted to the idea of owning hassle free, economical bike that looks fine. Overstyled but looks liveable. Especially riding jawa classic through the traffic for 2years, 40km everyday, spending on petrol for no rewarding experience. Ive cone to conclusion thst slow is cool too. Especially at times when affordable products are being taken serious. The jawa ownership is not bad but its not cheap for the experience it gives. If someone here owns the extreme, how good is it for daily commuting?is the quality ok? May be i will own this and then rethink what to buy for the fun part after couple of years. It would be an incomplete comment without appreciation of motorinc for top quality conversations. My workplace is full of car and bike enthusiasts and this type of content works as a food for thought for hours long car and bike conversations.

I bought hero Xtreme 125r 3 weeks before and enjoying each and every second I'm riding on it. The handling is excellent since it has wide handlebar and the chasis is so stable that cornering and direction change is so smooth as rose. There is some gear issues here and there, but it's common to all bike from my experience. The initial power is not so thrilling, but the game changes after 5000rpm and overtaking is 🔥🔥. Giving a mileage of around 60 even before 1st service. Engine does take some time to get cool down, but not at all cutting down performance even during long rides. The road presence of the machine is just 🖤🖤, you stop in a traffic and atleast 5 people will look and 1 of them will ask about the price and ride quality. Suspension is so good. Front is a bit firm, but rear suspension is so good. The quality of paint could have been better in my pov, but the overall ride quality is excellent and the ABS is the champion in stopping even at very close distance in traffic. Among the color variants, black is the total beast that will definitely feast on your mind. Take a test ride and know it personally.

Nice and informative video. Thank you! I want to know if ABS is an added advantage. I live in Chennai and most parts of the roads are poor due to continuous metro train works going on. Fell down recently while braking over a small stretch which had leftover asphalt.

I liked the question: who is it for? I think the logical answer to it goes like this: Sporty 125cc segment is rising and has been a good market in urban and semi-urban India where the new riders can't commit to a 250-300cc one due to inexperience or budget. Most brands have a sporty variant of their 125cc commuters already, Hero is the last one to join the party. The ones that already exist are as follows: Duke 125, RC 125 from KTM, NS125 as a sportier variant of Pulsar 125, Raider for TVS, and SP 125 (though it's not completely sporty in looks) as sportier variant of Shine and Unicorn for Honda. I myself am a proud owner of SP125. 😅

Dear MotorInq, I remembered your episode emphasizing one-bike-garage. And now as the Kawasaki is trying to tap into commuting class of two-wheelers with W175, can we have evaluate various options between 100cc-200cc. Coz, I think Kawayhas put forth a strong case with this W175-Street. Update of a lesser concern for you: I've thought of taking(as I'm elder) my brother's RE350Classic and semi-fund him for his KTM-ADV390. It didn't happen. He's about to get married. And I'm fascinated by the idea of one bike garage. Thinking of getting one such 150+cc with the bike-fund that I started for purchasing a slightly better caferacer by the end of 2024 or firsr quarter of 2025. Till then, now I'm curious that can this W175-Street lets me to roam between eastern and western ghats. PS: I don't want this W175 for commuting. I prefer public transport.

I took test rides on most 300-400 cc segments under my budget (4L) and the final contestants are Honda CB300R and TVS Apache RTR 310. Both of these are Great bikes and I love how they felt. Still confused with these 2. I love the exhaust of CB300R but some features on RTR are also eye catching and the yellow colour is beautiful. I would love your opinion on this @motorinc.

Just get the alloys dude. The extra cost and somewhat compromise in style (in case you prefer the look of the spokes) is well compensated for with the peace of mind granted by easy puncture handling and repair.
