When he said "one day all cars will have ABS and that day it would be a lot safer" Nope, you guessed wrong buddy now people cause deaths with texting.

Increase the safety features and you decrease people's self preservation. They think the cars are safer so they drive less safe.

I love the suspension moves while braking at 2:33.... it looks like you're driving Titanic! Dang, american cars may not be as fast or tight as european but if there's something they have to show is luxury and comfort! :D

Nowadays there's plenty of aftermarket parts for both 5.0 and 4.6 Great car either way
@H20MarkVIII12 жыл бұрын
Yeppers, the metal end cap ones were used in the limo towncars but will work just the same in the normal civilian version. They do include a thicker rubber bladders as well but unless you have a towncar signature touring sedan it wont make any difference.

I miss those days when American sedans were super large and full of luxury! I am glad lincoln is planing to (re-) introduce the continental 2016. Thats the way american cars should be! large, smooth and luxurious.
@starxlr78638 жыл бұрын
But the new Continental is nothing special or surprising. One glance at it, and you wouldn't know if it was a Mercedes or another look alike Ford except searching for the badge. I don't see that car having a very promising future unfortunately. Bringing back the Continental should be the wow factor of bringing back a car that looks like a real Lincoln Continental. Ford did that with the Mustang and the Thunderbird, and there's no reason why Ford can't do the same thing for the Continental and having it come standard with a V8.

why stop at 2 wheel air spring, because four wheel air spring as found out by Rolls Royce makes no noticeable difference, since the back air does 98% of the work, and it saves on expense. maintenance, repair, and complexity of the system.

Im a firm believer in more cubic inches, but in the case of Ford's modular engine, I'd prefer the 4.6 with DOHC.

Nice video... I'm sure you know that Canada uses Litres for fuel and not Imperial Gallons as I'm assuming they did back in 1990... its kind of remarkable that a car back then would cost $44,163 (even in Canadian dollars) from my research the exchange rate then was $0.87 CAD / $1 US. But I wouldn't think that I would want RWD as they advertise here I know Town Cars to be useless in the snow (and seen it first hand).

@WHITEVOLK8814 i guess 150 HP was alot of Horse power back in 1990.....given the motors strong torque in the low RPM Range it certainly still had some Get-Up and go to it.
@form10914 жыл бұрын
@WHITEVOLK8814 oh well,the Engine Still has 280 Ft Ibs of torque for the 160 HP,and 270 Ft Ibs of Torque for the 150 HP engine....the 1991 Towncars increased power to 210 HP with the Modular Engine Verses the Windsor of the 1990 Towncars,so...

Wow even expensive back then. 150 HP v8 lol. I know this was 20 years ago, but now 4 cylinder cars have 200 HP!
@H20MarkVIII12 жыл бұрын
thats why you should upgrade to the limo air spring from arnott industries, lifetime warranty and are heavier duty; made of steel instead of plastic end caps. They feel the same as regular ones from motorcraft, plus they are only 100 dollars each compared to OEM ford at 350 each.
@MrTheMiguelox12 жыл бұрын
Those were luxury cars so confront was a priority over durability, otherwise town cars will only be crown vics with different badge.

44 000 for a Lincoln in 1990!?!?, they are nice but i think that was a lot of money in 1990
@eldo5910 жыл бұрын
Still is. Now you can get a clean one for around $4,400.
@starxlr78638 жыл бұрын
That was peanuts compared to any foreign brand luxury car. A base Mercedes 420 SEL was up around $90k. Sure they are cheap now but they all are the same way. My 94 TC I bought for $1800 in like new condition. No complaints at all.

Omg the rear air suspension was the like the dumbest thing Ford had come up with. I mean I know where they were coming from with it, but I had two of these Lincolns, they were really nice cars overall, but the air suspension went out on both of them. One from putting 3 people in the back seat and the other from going over a speed bump too fast

Yes the price was high for that time. However today you see people from all income levels, welfare to 6-7 figures driving luxury cars. Luxury cars at one time represented status, today they don't because anyone can buy one..
@starxlr78638 жыл бұрын
The price was nothing. All the other luxury cars except Cadillac was anywhere between $70-90 thousand. This was on the low side of the same class and were easily outselling much of the competition.
