Hello, I would love to build this myself. Would you kindly share the parts that were used for this build? It looks fantastic.

Just stumbled upon this, and it looks awesome! Is there a parts list/cad files anywhere that you could share? I would love to recreate this if possible.

With the k-plus it might be possible to have the blind tumbler accessory and have a portafilter under it, if it's powerful enough to grind for espresso ;) Have you tried the K plus vs Cast Burr DF64 yet?

yes for medium roast there is no problem. It struggle a bit dealing with light roasted beans

Is this available for sale somewhere or are the schematics available to download (free or paid)? I tried looking around but it doesn't seem to be accessible anywhere obvious. It's an excellent design and would love to make or buy one for my grinder.

Can you please share the fusion 360 files, if any? I am in the process of building this. Plan to use a high-torque stepper motor for accurate RPM control.

If anything, I like the design of this one. Looks portable and doesn't take much space. I'm interested to have this commisioned. Btw, I'm from Malaysia ✌🏼

Having 3d printed details touching food is a really bad idea. The dominant majority of plastics is not food safe. Even for those, which are, separate print head is needed, which prints only food-safe plastic. Even after that, the printed surface is not smooth, which makes good breading ground for bacteria. The last one is not critical for coffe though.
@doc8125
@doc8125 Жыл бұрын
I would not be worried about extruded plastic when dealing with hard dry foods that are as large as a coffee bean. With the amount of time it's going to be in contact as well as it being dry and not really being able to collect anything in the 3d printing groves that could cause bacteria growth there really isn't much of any residue that would end up in the final drink you consume anyways
@doc8125

For a coffee dripper, a grinds catch cup or something closer to the motor that could get ground up by accident and end up in the grinds I would be more worried
@anterogradus

@@doc8125 The biggest problem I see is that 3d plastic is not food safe, which means it could degrade with time, leaking microplastic into coffee.
@doc8125
@doc8125 Жыл бұрын
@@anterogradus I really don't see that being too much of a problem (depending on the plastic used of coruse) since there won't really be any wear and tear on that spesific piece

Efficiency. You get the quality of a hand grinder while being able to do other things while it grinds. As an individual making coffee, not a big deal. But if you're working a boutique coffee café where you're doing back-to-back cups for customers who show up for high quality brews, it can be an interesting value proposition. That and just being tired in the morning XD But hey, there's room for everything and everything doesn't have to appeal to everyone. Whatever setup makes you happy is good.

Please note that once you grind more than 1 revolution per second you are degrading the aroma of the coffee. I don't know why is that - but it's much better taste-wise to grind very slow.
@CaffeMartellaSingapore
@CaffeMartellaSingapore 2 жыл бұрын
The beauty of this set up is variable speed.
@mrthomasyip
@mrthomasyip 2 жыл бұрын
This device works on a DC motor with a specification of 160rpm while off load. This equate to around 2.6 revolution per second. With beans the speed will reduces drastically down to 1~2 rev in a second. With the voltage controller the speed of rotation can be even reduce the grinding to less than 1rev per second. Ideally hand grinding we are turning at a rotational speed of around 2rev in a second which make up 120rpm.
@CaffeMartellaSingapore
@CaffeMartellaSingapore 2 жыл бұрын
@@mrthomasyip this is a great explanation from Thomas. I don't think we are grinding at 1 revolution per second on a hand grinder. It's faster than that.
