I bought the 2018 Titanium with the AWD 2.0L tow package.(White Gold metallic exterior / Sand interior and opted for the 19" upgrade rims and tires To date my take on my Escape PROS; Ride and handling (super quiet and great road manners (tight) for a small SUV. Passing, Excellent, Feel confident when passing eighteen wheels on a highway at 75 mph posted speeds, My Escape went from 60 mph to 110 mph as I passed an 18 wheeler (within 2-3 secs) it will get up and go! I had an adrenalin rush!!! lol and the handling again was super responsive. No loud engine roars, super quiet. the 6-speed auto shifts smoothly. The Sync 3 infotainment system is a breeze to operate, as is Navigation. Seating is super comfortable and firm. I am 5'7" so average size guy. I even sat in the rear seats, Just to try it out and had plenty of leg and headroom. . Turning radius is quite short and tight. Cargo area is fine with 2nd-row seat up (for my needs, . The mph Well I am getting better than the listed mph. I have only 1,000 miles on the odometer and on my last road trip 98 miles one way 225 mile round trip speeds of 30 45 small towns and 75 mph open high way. My fuel combo rating came in at 23.3 miles per gallon. I do have a bit of a heavy foot esp when passing, shower down on the accelerator on 2 of the passings and the 3rd pass I just did a gradual acceleration, and it picked up speed very quickly then as well. Very confident. Quality of interior is super nice and above some other in the segments. Like the panoramic vista roof and power shade. Great all around visibility. I do get lots of compliments on this vehicle. and inquiries about overall impressions, esp from empty nesters. Best feature (for me is the 2.0L eco-bust! love the power and responsiveness of the engine matted with the 6-speed with sports mode and steering wheel shifter paddles. The Escape is based on the European model so ride and handling is very responsive and tight for an SUV and better than its competitors in this segment. Clsoet is CX-5 in handling. But most compare the Escape to the BMW -X1 for acceleration and handling. X1 X28drive 0-60 6.3 sec. the Excape AWD 2.0L 6.7 sec. (which I find I got better #'s in my personal test 6.1-6.4. Remember it is still in the break-in stage, so I expect the fuel economy and 0-60 to improve tad. Cons!!!: Need thigh and torso bolster on the seating for more support in turns and curves! I found this problematic. u have to plant your left foot firmly and push ur body back into the seat when going into curves at highway speeds. can be taxing on you. The gas cap filler door does not lock!!! and it is a cap[less filler, not a fan of this at all. When using Android PLay! it cancels out the Sync 3 nav and some of its apps. and uses only those related apps on your smartphone. can be frustrating at times. Easy fix not use ANdoid play the Sync 3 system is grt on its own!. simple to use. Voice commands for all apps as well. . Thus far loving this Escape! The vehicles in the running were Honda CR-V , Mazda CX-5, and BMW - X1, well the ESCAPE combines the best featurs of these three into one smart well thoughtout package.

Chuck S sounds like you're really loving your Escape! I completely agree with you on the seats, they need more bolstering to hold you in place in corners. Also, 23.3mpg isn't half bad considering you claim to have a lead foot! Your color combo sounds great as well!

LOL at times my foot can get heavy but have tamed a bit on the heavy foot. city driving I am very light, just on the highway passing, I got very aggressive with the foot, just to see the quickness and responsiveness of the 2.0L . Ecobust. It is a fun vehicle to drive.

I own a new black 2017 Escape Titanium Awd with 2.0 EcoBoost. I have 22,000 trouble free miles. My first Ford, and it's my favorite family vehicle I've owned. Handles great. Rides great. Solid performance, with a perfectly matched transmission. It's drives and handles like a car. I was sold after the first test. I'm a big fan of the capless fuel filler. No gas smell on your hands having to remove a cap. I really enjoy using Alexa on my Sync 3 for Amazon music. Navagation is easy to use. I have zero complaints owning an Escape.

I bought a 2018 escape in the sel package which you can get the 2.0l engine and save a few thousand bucks if you don't want the paddle shifters it just has them on the stick, or the sony radio. The rest is the same. I wanted the 2.0l more than anything else.

I am definitely am a dad that bought this for his family. It is so fun to drive! It was an obvious choice for a crossover. I told her that I will buy a truck once we pay off the crossover. That way we have a family car and a dad car.

I'm leery of anything with a turbo,it's just more complicated,and more likely to go wrong.I have the 05 Escape with the 3.0 V6,and I like it.Very simple,very easy to maintain,and very reliable.I'll stick with that until the wheels fall off.

Good driving car. Don't like the Auto Stop/Start feature but apparently that is the wave of the future and I can turn it off. Very comfortable driver's seat.

The only difference I see from my 17 is that the steering wheel paddle shifters seem to be gone. I never used them anyway. Its been flawless since I got it in June of 16. On the highway I seem to do a little better than the estimated mileage. City, not so much.
@MotorMindsProductions7 жыл бұрын
Paul Draver That seems to be the trend with cars, highway MPG is better that estimated and city is worse. Exception to the rule is my Ford Focus which struggles to crack 32mpg on the highway even though it's rated at 36. I blame only having 5 gears 😂

We bought a 2017 AWD 1.5L Escape and I'm as happy as anything with it. When you want power its there, no problem, and in the snow ( I live in BC, Canada) the AWD even with the standard Michelin winter tires, that don't have a real aggressive tread pattern, but they hang on like crazy. I'd recommend this vehicle, the only change possibly on a next purchase would be the 2L engine with turbo. That sounds like an excellent option. Later - BJ

I've never driven the 1.5 liter Escape, but the 2.0 turbo is definitely a lot faster. However, it definitely chews through a decent amount of fuel when it's on boost. Glad you're happy with your purchase!

I have the 2017 Titanium and I'm loving it. I love the centre info cluster and the 4 quadrants. I'm sad they got rid of the turn by turn directions the previous one had. I get good mileage on my Escape, and I drive the 2.0 turbo hard. It handles beyond amazing in the snow, or on the dry roads. The escape is very reliable which is another reason I got it. I do wish it had some more interior trim to break up the all black interior that I have. But that's an easy fix from Amazon lol Good review!
@MotorMindsProductions7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Definitely a great car in my opinion, handles exceptionally and whilst the interior might need a redesign, it is still very nice and feels relatively upscale.
@dustinmorris137 жыл бұрын
Motor Minds Productions it's true, it could stand to get a new interior, which is coming soon. The all new model will have a hybrid version again! I'm excited to see what it'll look like.

I am curious what people's take on FWD v AWD. I don't mean the traction, but the overall drive and handling on everyday, dry road conditions.
@MotorMindsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Philip LaPorta Couldn't tell you since I didn't drive both but one thing I will say is that AWD is overrated. It's good for getting you going in poor road conditions but it doesn't do jack squat to help you stop 😂
@MusicLuv807 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great review. Does this car have a smooth ride to it? Because I did test drive the base model a few years ago and it had very choppy and rough ride to it.
@MotorMindsProductions7 жыл бұрын
I'd definitely say the Titanium model I drove had a quite comfortable ride. You can definitely feel the road, but the ride is pretty compliant and does a good job of isolating you and minimizing impacts from the road. You can definitely find a cushier crossover, but I personally like how it's a somewhat firmer ride because it helps transmit more road feel to the driver!

Jody Fors The Rav4 rides pretty well, you should definitely check out a CRV as well, although I haven't driven one since Honda dealers are super conservative with test drives.

This is not a Focus.. Stop comparing! It’s obvious you prefer Focus! I’m watching to see an honest review for my wife who’s looking to trade hers in. Great review on your part overall! I told my wifey not to look at the Focus due to were we live, snow, potholes etc! She still thought it was cute. Resale value sucks #%^% on a Ford Focus. I’m a former owner. Great job on the video! 👍

I almost bought one last year but it is a real gas guzzler and very unreliable. I got the Crosstrek instead, the AWD alone is worth every cent! However, I would like Subaru to put at least a turbo as an option! The Forexter XT is indeed fast but too pricey for me. Anyways, keep on making great reviews! :) Oh, the Escape is by far the best seller SUV in Canada but in my area there is an overselling of Mazda CX5! Yuck!
@MotorMindsProductions7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I will agree that the 2.0 Ecoboost engine can be very inefficient when you are on boost, but I got a decent number on my drive! Also, the early Escapes weren't super reliable, but Ford has worked to make them a bit better. However, it probably still won't carry the reliability of a Japanese offering like a Honda or a Toyota. Just something to think about!
@groovymotion57067 жыл бұрын
Well, here in Canada they are still categorized as unreliable even for 2017. The Forester XT has incredible fuel economy, it was tested 2 weeks ago with an average of 8l/100km as opposed to around 14 for the Escape!
@MotorMindsProductions7 жыл бұрын
GroovyMotion Yeah you should definitely opt for the 1.5 liter engine if you want better fuel economy, it actually gets pretty decent numbers compared to the 2 liter engine.
@groovymotion57067 жыл бұрын
The best scenario would be a Crosstrek with the XT/STi turbo! :D There is such a Frankenstein in North America, in Rally! But it is $$$ lol
