Here in the states, I've been leaning towards the Santa Fe, but with increasing prices and the games that dealerships play to drain your bank account, I'm leaning more towards the Tuscon. Only problem is that the center console uses the piano black surface touch buttons, which are a fingerprint magnet. Also, I prefer tactile buttons that I can feel while I'm trying to keep my attention on the road.

Nice comparison! We chose the Tucson limited hybrid (will take delivery in 2 days), and we're 60+ yrs old :) Didn't need a bit more room and chrome hasn't been cool for 30+ years, that's why so many car makers have special "black pkgs" that cost a premium. Tuscon hybrid w/ the quicker performance and better economy made it an easy decision, and much less chrome to delete :) Just wish the 19" Tucson wheels weren't so ugly & busy, so those are the first things we'll change.

Still 50/50 on this one. Toyota is known for reliability, but its expensive with less bells and whistles. Hyundai however looks nice inside and out, but the 1.6L turbo hybrid makes me skeptical with longterm reliability. Anyways, very nice comparison between both cars. Don’t feel bad Andrea and Zach! In the US, models like the RDX A-Spec do not come with rain sensing wipers or power folding mirrors like you guys get! Another example is the Honda CRV. In Canada you guys can get the panoramic sunroof, we just get the regular sunroof, and I think you guys get heated rear seats on the CRV which we don’t get here in the US!🤷♀️

Hey guys thanks for this great review! We are in the Las Vegas area and were able to find a 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy AWD. We just had to agree with Andrea, it is a good value for a near luxury class vehicle. We live in a large retirement community full of Buicks, Mercs, and Cads, and like many others wanted a good comfortable road car with all of the technology. Our Santa Fe Calligraphy (all black with tan interior) fits right in and cost thousands less 👍

Thanks for the comparison Andrea and Zach! I also find the difference in trim features very confusing. I was going to get the hybrid Santa Fe but I'm not getting the same features of the Calligraphy trim... plus I am not a fan of the chrome trim; I prefer the black diamond trim on the Calligraphy. I can wait until next year to purchase so hopefully the 2023 Santa Fe hybrid will have the features I want. If not, I'm getting the hybrid Tucson (Hyundai, just add a few buttons/dial).

Still don’t understand how is there more cargo space on Tucson? SantaFe has more leg room front and back, the back seat can move forward as well. Is the Tucson taller and the extra volume comes from height?

Hello, Did you notice if the Tucson stayed in ELECTRIC mode for the first 30 miles? I hear that the Santa Fe PHEV rarely stayed in electric mode and behaved more like a standard hybrid car where the internal combustion engine would kick in very often. I enjoyed watching your review.

I don't know why Hyundai doesn't share more parts between models. Just yesterday, I sat in a Santa Fe top trim, and the seats were amazing. Plush and supportive. I then sat in the Tucson top trim, and the seats were as hard as a rock, my lumbar was starting to panic after 5 minutes! Both seats are "leather" so why not just use the good seats in the Tucson? It's too bad because the Santa Fe is just too big for our city lifestyle, but I'm not sure I'd be happy with the Tucson's noticeably worse interior (not just the seats, more and cheaper plastics... turn signal arm feels like it's so think, it's going to snap off any minute).

Why don't you get the larger infotainment screen in the hybrid Santa Fe? The answer is simple. You Canadians get the hybrid with AWD, a feature that isn't available in the US for the hybrid model. I wouldn't defend the specific differences in trims and options between the US and Canada but all automakers design their models to reflect the relative appeal in different national markets and to meet price points that reflect the impact of rivals in those markets. For obvious climatic reasons AWD is far more popular in Canada than in the US and decisions by automakers reflect that fact for Canadian models. But providing AWD on the hybrid Santa Fe in Canada means cost cutting somewhere else.
@bonbon273 жыл бұрын
The hybrid Santa Fe models in the US have HTRAC AWD standard so you are incorrect on that.
@hang49633 жыл бұрын
Actually the Santa Fe the infotainment center area look just the same as the other model. I would say it's getting boring👎🤣 also, I want to say why the Hyundai makes North America has different package between US and Canada it's so stupid 👎
@GHinWI3 жыл бұрын
Of these two, the Tucson interior is a dealbreaker...it manages to be both ugly and impractical. It’d have to be the Santa Fe. Objectively though, these Hyundais get pretty meh MPGs compared to a Venza for example. It’s not a really a contest. Toyota’s hybrid system is long proven reliable; who knows how well this Hyundai dual clutch and turbo DI engine are going to last.
