I have to laugh at people who never drove it and constantly talk shit about the ATS for being a Cadillac product. I don't know a single owner who didn't immediately fall in love with it. A friend who owned pretty much every hot hatch from both sides of the Atlantic now uses this as his daily. It's a fabulous driver's car, with surprisingly comfortable seats, that handles better than pretty much anything this side of a supercar. And you can get the 2.0 for the price of a demo Accord, with the mad incentives they give. A truly good buy, laughably cheaper than a base C Class. But all you need is a test drive, really.

Nice review, some people have a negative respect, your review pointed out the positive aspects of the car! Don’t forget if you buy one new, Cadillac will send you to a driving school to teach how to drive the car in a performance situation on a track with instruction!

This is such an underrated car but I was always irritated by the CUE system, although Caddy has been improving it steadily. Also, the back seats are a joke even in the sedan, forget the coupe. There are always huge discounts on the ATS-V both new and used as they hardly sell when compared to the M3/4 and C63

The ATS competes in the large compact class, so back seat room will be tight but comparable to other vehicles in its class.
@MrNemo7217 жыл бұрын
"Back seat room is tight" is Auto magazine speak for- It's not suitable for above average adults. I am 5'11", sat in the ATS sedan and it was ridiculously small and I couldn't sit behind driver's seat adjusted for me. It is way smaller than comparable BMW E90 or F30/Cclass/A4/Infiniti G/Q/Lexus IS all of which I test drove and could easily fit in the backseats.

I owned a 2.0 T ATS and I can tell you you the chassis balance is glorious. Clearly this is where Cadillac spent all their money, as opposed to interior design. As for the PDR, i still can't beleive it's available in the litigous USA (and by extension Canada, because we piggyback all their cars and car laws)

It's considered to be "cool" to criticize domestic cars (Consumer Reports, C&D, R&T, MT, etc all biased) so it's nice to see a positive review for a change. I have a '16 ATS 2.0T 6MT. It handles great, better even than my '05 CTS-V did. I'd love to have this ATS-V with a 6MT. Thanks for your review.

Love the ATS V but was surprised to hear that Cadillac is down with quality and reliability issues lately. Since it is the same chassis as the Camaro, the ATS V should have a v8 with the Camaro getting the twin turbo V6 as an available option (RS?). I also love what Cadillac has done with the side window, B and C pillars: looks better than the Camaro and I'd expect it to have better visibility.

There’s only a few reasons why this or even the CTS-V is underrated, but going over the ATS-V: the twin turbo V6 nobody likes (even though there’s some hypocrisy out there,) people thinking they’re getting a less properly built car when they think of Cadillac, but what I think is its major drawback is that it has the same chassis as the 6th gen Camaro (which sports an NA or supercharged V8)

I have rented both F10 BMW 328i and this ATS 2.0T, I would say the Cadillac was more fun to drive, it surely was. But the CUE is THE WORST PART OF THE CAR. The CUE looks clean for the designer, but it's awful to use, you HAVE to look away from your windscreen to know what you have touched on the display screen, or the controls of the A/C.

Cory Stansbury Exactly! That's why it's especially frustrating. The airport limo XTS gets a full digital option rivalling Jaguars' and yet this 75k performance car gets something that looks like it came from a 90s bus. I don't know why the auto journals didn't rip them up and down for it

Too bad the rest of the car is so meh. The ATS despite it performance credentials & handling prowess is being upstaged by almost everyone, from established 3 series, luxury C-class, the reliable IS, the gizmo-laden Q50, the dynamic XE & even the new MT CoTY Giulia. I was a fan of the ATS when it first came out in 2013, but in 2017 the class has moved FAR beyond what it can do with its inherently flawed interior design & frankly, ridiculous sticker price. GM needs to go back to the drawing board, but given how luxury sedans are now being outsold by the stupid SUV, I think the ATS would likely not get a 2nd generation in favor of a XT3 or XT4 instead.

My buddy leased a 2014 CTS and it was incredibly unreliable. The number of recalls it had in the first 2 years was ridiculous. The ATS is cool but just doesn't seem worth owning. Cadillac needs to figure that out otherwise what's the point of making such a great looking and driving car if it's going to probably be a piece of crap in the end?

Personally, I am fan of Cadillac's recent designs. I guess that it either grabs people or it doesn't. I think one issue is that people have the dodgy image of Cadillac from the boats of the 50s - 70s further exacerbated by a lot of the crap that they put out in the 80s and 90s Cimarron, V864, HT4100, look alike GM cars of the 80s and their first horrid attempts at competing with the Germans and who can forget the Northstar engine failures. However, I think with the CTS and ATS they really have a good product, I just don't know if the market will forgive them for their past sins.
@strongfp6 жыл бұрын
Sorry its not a basic looking "egg" like every other car on the road. I swear every car in this class loves to mimic Porsche or a Mazda Miata and just recycles the same designs over and over with slightly different variations. At least GM is willing to make radical changes.
@rhar10447 жыл бұрын
What an outdated POS. Cadillac has used this same styling for almost 20-years now. Either the division is STUPID, LAZY... or both. A tinny 6-cylinder can be turbo-charged to sound like a turbo-charged tinny motor. Don’t even get me started on the Cue system. I rented a Cadillac years ago on a trip and it was a cramped, awful mess. Traded my leased V8 K900 in for a 2018 M550i a couple weeks ago. The BMW would make short work of this crappy Caddy turned wannabe track car.
