I don't understand why you kept comparing this to a CTS-V that is designed to compete against the M5, E-Class AMG and S6 which of course are larger and more expensive. You also kept comparing this to a ZL1 Camaro which this car was never designed to compete with which is why they did not stick the V8 in this car. I never once heard you compare this to what it is designed to compete against which is the M3/M4, C-Class AMG, S4 and the Lexus RC-F which is what it is designed to compete against performance and price wise. Ok.. I am track guy. Since forever. Especially with sports European cars. One thing you are completely wrong.. ATS-V IS a 100% track car. It is now my main track car that I use. It was especially designed an engineered to go on tracks and give hard times to every European cars fanboys. About the CUE system, you are correct about the odd feeling you have at start, but a couple of weeks and you are pretty much used to it. You should also add to your review that this car have Android auto and Apple car.. so basically you are not using CUE at all. You should also add that the space behind the console offers induction charging and cooling system for any phone you put there. The interior is quite simple, but luxurious than a Camaro ;) . You get a bit more luxurious electronics feature as well. Last thing, in Track mode, you have another 5 stage track profile that you can choose that makes adjustments to the traction system, suspension, shifting and many other things related to G force. Go on track with it and test it against big V8s or BMWs, Mercs, Audi's, Porsche.. you'll see how ATS-V could be a very competitive race car.

I own a 2016 Ats-v with the 6 speed manual, also did the tune and down pipes and the car is pretty scary fast. That's saying a lot from me as my last car was a C6 Z06. But anyway I disagree with the review on the infotainment system. It is actually pretty easy to use once you get used to it. At first it can be a little annoying but once you get the hang of it everything works flawlessly. I hate that everyone that reviews seems to not actually be the owner of most of these cars. Although the one thing I will agree with is that the center console area smudges like crazy and attracts a ton of dust, but I live in Las Vegas so it's kind of unavoidable. Also I think the issue with the paddle shifters is that you are in the wrong driving mode. You need to go into track mode and then go into the secret menu and remove all the nannies. The paddle shifters will work great and you might even wet your self once you inevitably break traction.

The ATS-V and CTS-V2 are almost neck and neck in the quarter mile, coupe for coupe and sedan for sedan. It even beats the CTS-V2 in some instances and certainly on a circuit-type track because of the better platform/suspension and lighter weight. The CTS-V3 is not too far ahead of it. Add in the fact that it only takes a few thousand to really ramp up power in the ATS-V AND you can get one way cheaper than a CTS-V and this makes my personal decision an easy one! Driving it is one thing owning it is another. If you can afford it never compromise. You drive this thing on the A.B. as fast and long as you want to (except in restriction zones & congestion areas). Proper maintenance is high but it goes with the cake. Cadillac did a good job but the C63 AMG S is a trophy. You may have to be more cost effective I do not. Enjoy your choices everybody enjoys mine, long trips FAST trips or just cruising around. Besides Cadillac has way too much plastic and is very shaky at 140mph + I’m on a picnic, wider body, better tired, brakes, suspension, and wow! 4 matic +, it’s built right. Cruise around in comfort mode, fill your coffee up to the brim, it will go into your gullet not your lap. As quite as a mouse for luxury and growls like a monster in S+. I would rent-a-car one day when I fly in the day its much better balanced, the last one I drove was boring at best, I’m open minded ill try another when opportunity arises, I suggest you do the same. Grandma would be wowed arriving in complete safety and comfort at 120mph.

Owned both, and there isn't even a competition between the two on fuel economy. You can drive the CTS-V gently and manage to just get over 20mpg on the highway but if you dip into the throttle a little or you get stuck in mixed stop and go traffic you'll quickly suffer and find yourself averaging 14-16mpg. By contrast on the ATS-V you can get away with driving a little more aggressively and still manage to put down 18.5-20mpg mixed driving. My best highway mileage was 26mpg. The ATS-V is also a much more nimble car but you don't get that instant toque and V8 sounds like you would with the CTS-V. They're both great cars though

The second I read about this car, all I saw was power potential with a bit of love from the aftermarket. Change the suspension, front, back sway bars, race motor mounts, and you have a great handling cars. Chip, up pipe, down pipe, X Pipe, etc. and you have around 130+whp. RPM Motor Sports did a tune on one of these in 2018 with just a few mods and gained like 120whp. When you say "It doesn't sound like a V8". Well this engine isn't the fastest(far from it)but it has one of the most unique sounds in automotive history, The 12v VW VR6 Motor. The engine sounds like a mix of a Lion and a Wookie getting into a fight. Sadly the 15 degree head made air flow really bad. Yet the engines sounds amazing and better than a lot of V8's. The ATS-V instantly brought me back to The Buick GNC/GNX and at first not many seeing its potential kind of ignored it but then people started to tinker under the hood, racing, and well the rest is history...

I'm curious to see how the new version looks with Caddy changing up a few things. Caddy wasn't at our recent car show disappointedly

It was all going so well until you mentioned the V6,what a shame.😔
@dcsteve78696 жыл бұрын
It makes a lot of power and torque. More than the V8s just a few years ago. Most owners are seeing around 400-420rwhp so that makes GM's stated 470hp seem a little under estimated. The torque just comes on and on it with almost no turbo lag. It's different than a V8, but these cars easily hang with the C7, Mustangs, and other V8 cars.

@@dcsteve7869 I can almost guarantee the 464 crank rating is underrated. I regularly walked Gen2 CTS-Vs in my '16 ATS-V sedan. It is a gem of an engine in a great chassis, assuming you are good w/a TTV6 and the sounds that it makes.

Gregg Anderson yup I’d just keep it quiet!

You're complaining about the cue system. It literally isn't bad at all. You're not even pressing the buttons right. You are hitting them at an angle and rushing it. when you tap it calmly and flat it registers it perfectly fine
@mjdgi16 жыл бұрын
On the infotainment volume you have to slide your finger across the chrome not on the black it doesn't work that way. And yes , my mom have it in her car and it sucks but you can get used to it
@konigwolf54726 жыл бұрын
That not a big engine same as a chevy Colorado or travers and 460 hp is a lot for something that small I'm a little surprise
@hansm86886 жыл бұрын
The twin turbo is what does it. Not too surprising...

I Wonder If The CTS V Supercharged Engine Would Fit In The ATS V
@dcsteve78696 жыл бұрын
WeaponX already did that, but honestly there is no real advantage. The shorter V6 sits further back behind the wheels and gives a little advantage in handling. For the money you would spend on a swap, you can buy a CTSV

Aren't you supposed to touch the silver and not the black for the infotainment? Don't know if someone already suggested it.

I have been around the track in this thing, it is something. I have a 2017 mustang GT manual and I can tell you they these cars are very similar on the track and I did not test drive this but if I would have it would have been a tough decision
@conrad142019296 жыл бұрын
Straight line is pretty much dead even, GT might even have an edge with traction off the line. Around a track the V starts to separate itself. The GT is a great car but the ATS-V is a special car around a racetrack. Seriously the best handling sedan Ive ever been in.

Im stuck between buying one of these in a manual or an SRT 392 challenger. The only thing that makes me move more toward the challenger is the massive 6.4, i currently drive a challenger sxt+ and have driven the challenger but have not been able to drive the cadillac so any opinions?
@AceBoogieV2 жыл бұрын

I'd have to say, I'm not to sure you know how to use that cue screen properly but I wont say that it's a good system. I work at cadillac and lord they're replaced ALL the time. My parents 2013 ats is about to have its 3rd or 4th one. Although I dont think the Florida's heat helps.

Great review, as mentioned though the gauge cluster looks plain. Like GM took it from a Chevy Cruz. I feel the GM interiors just don't compete with Mopar.
