in Korea, we say 50% of the Range Rover on the road is on the way to the service centre and the other 50% is coming out of service centre. Awesome reliability. PHEV is much more expensive and it's not efficient when you don't fully charge overnight. Places like in Europe, it's attractive option for rich people because of low vehicle tax and convenience of parking (you can just park in EV spot and charge even if you don't need to) in in-city parking

@peterfessier9780 Жыл бұрын
I have a Rav4 Prime and I've looked to see if there is a plug in hybrid that beats it at any price. The answer depends on your priorities. I wanted a PHEV that would be the best "electric car" possible. Most PHEV's, and the Land Rover falls into this category, have a fairly weak electric motor. It has range because of the large battery, but my smaller and lighter Prime has more electric horsepower. Now if you want combined horsepower of electric and gas then Volvo, BMW and land Rover have a lot more. But I'm satisfied with my 310 hybrid horsepower, in part because it's enough, but also because it's efficient. The new Volvo XC60 and this Land Rover have good range, but they are not nearly as efficient. This car has an MPGe of 51, I think, that's the number I found. My prime is 94. My Prime has an average MPG of about 36 on regular gas. I can't find the MPG of the 2023 land rover PHEV, but the 2022 model had an MPG of 19 on premium gas. I'm guessing your average Land Rover driver is not too concerned with the MPG or MPGe of their car, but I do think it kind of gets lost in all the talk of electric range. MPGe of 51 sounds high, but it's actually pretty low. These are lovely cars, but I don't think I could bring myself to drive one even if I could afford one. I'd go for the Lexus 450 h+ because it's the only luxury PHEV that is actually efficient. If you are really going off road then there are better options, but how many people really take these vehicles on anything worse than a few miles on a well maintained dirt road? Finally, I enjoy watching these two charming Canadians review cars. : )
@richardh3587 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd say you'd buy the PHEV version of this to increase the comfort and convenience of having one. As you know, driving in EV mode (especailly when you're in slow traffic) is more relaxing. Plus you have the convenience of being able to charge it at home so you reduce the number of times you need to go to a gas station. I dont think efficiency is a big selling point or consideration for buyers in this segment (other than maybe a token nod to looking like they are trying to be "green").
@ghenry85 Жыл бұрын
I have a Rav4 Hybrid and I don't think I could justify the phev. My trip to work is a little more than 70kms and I can't plugin at work. The gas milage is fantastic and the performance is very easy to live with. If my commute to work was 20ish kms(one way and leaving a buffer for cold weather), the RAV4 Prime would be a very tempting option. It's price is competitive with full EVs of similar size but no range/charger anxiety. I do agree, efficiency would be in the calculation for a daily driver for me always.

I got $10,000 back from state and federal so it was about as much a regular hybrid for me. Without that I wouldn’t have gone for it.

@@peterfessier9780 It was 7000 in my area, and I got the Le hybrid(I didn't care about the extra features in the SE aside from the long ev range)and that was about half the price difference. 13:55 I think you really have to take those reliability statistics (problems per 100 vehicles) with a grain of salt. A Porsche may not be driven in the same conditions as a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Fit. So even when you normalize by the number of vehicles, it may be meaningless. Also, not all problems are equally serious. An engine failure is not the same as an exhaust pipe corroding or a door being improperly aligned.
