***** 450-520mhz UHF High-Split. It is called "S-Split" due to the model number designation.
@dash8brj9 жыл бұрын
+snarlingrabiddog5150 Yep - a split or "Bandsplit" is its bandwidth coverage. e.g. a Q split covers the 380-470mhz range. I have one of these too, XTL2500 converted to XTL5000. Learned something new from your video - the custom backlight colours - now my XTL5K looks the same as the rest of my ham radios :)

True agreed. I'm thinking it was bumped from lower then r7 and in process a 05 head installed. For some reason it's looking for two heads even though it's set to just one head no dek. I've tried every combo you could imagine in settings plus wiring with and without a charge guard. I ended up just using power soft option it's hassle to press pwr twice to shut off but closest to getting it to run after vehicles off. What's strange is it throws a fail 0190 error in orange if you try to power the radio without starting truck first. Once you start truck and shut off it'll stay on no problem. But once you turn radio off and pwr on if trucks off the fail issue again. Only one I ever had this boggle with. But it works to what needs to be done just funny. Thinking head issue, plus a firmware issue or flash with head. But thanks for reply. Good job on your radios. Next time I buy from you not lane brain barn sales lol

Is some heads made just for remote ignition power only such as a jumper? If it was at one time ordered that way?
@harryschlonge576210 жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity have you ever had any problems with remote 05 heads? On a remote mount with running set for soft power option not ignition only or required? Have caught hell on one it's a trunk mount and I got it to stay on lol but won't power down with ignition only setting but other options either the fail 0910 on head or in soft power it'll stay on when cars off but only if cars been turned on. Did wiring to spec an nada. Any thoughts? It's a r12 firmware radio.

Ok not a problem, it gives me enough time to save my pennies! Lol, thanks Dan.

Yeppers :) I'd love for you to have one!

Oh also the head it was once a 03 control head remote mount then was flashed to a 05 head in the menu both heads show up. Also weird thing is you have to have both head cable slots plugged in but only on drawer or head and only one data cable in the radio itself or vice versa. Flash issue?

To answer all your questions, I have to honestly say I'm just not sure. XTL's are great mobiles, but Motorola made the damned things so hard to get compatible parts for, it's just insane. I just don't know a whole lot about them aside from them being pains in the butt to upgrade firmware with iButtons.

Give me itttttttttttt! lol I know I don't need an S-Split, but I mean. I could find some sort of use for it! lol
@snarlingrabiddog515011 жыл бұрын
I would but you'd brick it just like you did your GM300, haha. You did really good getting that mobile up and running again. I never thought you would be able to. I'm happy to eat any words of doubt I shot ya :)

You should add a Motorola desk mics to make it a good base station
@snarlingrabiddog515011 жыл бұрын
If I used it as a base station, I would. They serve VERY WELL as base stations . I could use one of these in VHF 110 Watts. For some weird reason, the XTL UHF band goes for more than VHF. These will go to a couple happy fellas soon I reckon.

May I ask what is the going rate for one of these units? S-SPLIT is what I use.

I'm not quite sure at this time. I'm planning on setting a price structure on them sometime this week. I didn't take shortcuts on anything and it came at a cost, but cutting corners just doesn't work for me and I've never believed its fair to do that to my customers. The cables and everything will be factored into the total and the cables and mount will all be new in package, as will be the mic ;)

Hey Dan, nice XTL. I've been watching your videos for a couple months and you definetly know what you're doing! I am intersted in buying an APX 7000, but I'm not sure if you'd be able to sell one to me. I saw that Ko had a demo of one on his channel. Let me know if you can. Thanks
@snarlingrabiddog515011 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words :) I won't be carrying the APX line for quite some time. I find the ones selling for 2500 bucks to be VERY suspect. Any radio that Motorola charges 7 grand for that people are selling as new is highly suspicious. Motorola would never allow a dealer to sell one for less than 5 grand. It all makes me wonder where the "tagged" APX portables are coming from new that are selling $3,500.00 off list base price or more less.

Good grief, I'm still getting used to youtube...newbie I know. Anyway snarlingrabiddog5150, I am interested in getting an XTS 5000 S-Split with some accessories, since the APXs are n/a. Not sure what happened to my last 2 comments, but yeah... I'd like to buy a 5K uhf s-split. Thanks!

Thanks, Dan! Btw, the video with my radio & accessories was very thorough. (Think that last one was an old comment, tho)
