Alex Zanardi's crash is insane. How he lost his legs and lost 75% of his blood because the helicopter forgot to take off but still managed to survive. It is one of the most gruesome crashes if you look at the photos.

I sure hope there's a part 2, as there's plenty of other crashes that could easily qualify, regardless of how hard or light they were. Here's some suggestions - 2014 Coke Zero 400: Kyle Busch and Cole Whitt (at the very end of 'The Huge One') (part of a much larger wreck, but this one has certainly stood out from the whole thing) - 2015 Rhino Linings 350: Tyler Reddick and Austin Theriault (relatively light late hit that results in a massive head on impact to the wall for the latter) - 2013 Sargent Security Phillip Island 360: Alex Premat and James Courtney - 2013 Camping World RV Sales 400: Austin Dillon and Casey Mears (Dillon was already out of control, everyone else had already missed him...and then wham) - 2000 Shell Championship Series Race 25 Oran Park: Paul Morris and Mark Larkham (late impact on an already damaged car, resulting in a massive fire) - 2013 Jeff Foxworthy's Grit Chips 300 Practice: Joey Gase and Brad Sweet (car was literally stopped, then rolled forward into the path of the latter) - 2014 5-Hour Energy 400: Justin Allgaier and David Gilliland (Allgaier was already spinning for a bit before getting t-boned) - 2017 Go Bowling 400: Joey Logano, Danica Patrick, and Aric Almirola (Almirola being the late impact in an already occuring crash) - 2013 STP 400: Kyle Busch and Joey Logano (Busch was already spinning for a bit, slid down the track, in the path of Logano) - 2008 Auto Club 500: Casey Mears and Sam Hornish Jr. (Mears had already wrecked, collecting Dale Earnhardt Jr., other cars (including Hornish, who's hood was up on the windshield), and was rear ended by Hornish a little bit after, flipping him over) Dang...mid '10s had a lot of these kinda wrecks, didn't it? There's probably more I haven't recalled at the time.

That Foty/Glotzbach one still makes my heart stop no matter how many times I see it. The direct hit in the driver door and given their ages, this was an exhibition event with retired drivers And that Zanardi wreck, I can’t imagine losing both legs in an instant and just what kind of pain that would be, if you’re not in shock or unconscious.

@@alias19 that is why new safety implements have been made. 4:17 Back in my racing days they described 3 types of yellow flag situations; a standing yellow meaning proceed with caution; a waving yellow meaning proceed with extreme caution; and a waving yellow where the flaggers eyes are as big as dinner plates! This situation was certainly the last type which is why I can't understand how that other car came upon the scene so dangerously fast.

Honestly crashes like these are some of the worst. You're usually at a complete stop, and then a car just slams into you, which can cause devastating injuries. The best example of this type of crash would be Eric Martin's crash in 2002, but unfortunately he passed. Wouldn't have even happened if spotters were present, which became a rule after the accident.

Hey Dick Tracy, did your kid notice the red flags waving and that all the other cars were stopped?
