Newgarden should have been penalized. Play it back at half-speed and decide for yourself. He was pulling away Power and Rossi. He can claim there was an opening on the outside between Scottymac and Herta, but he was straight ahead. Even at half-speed the closing rate was incredible. If that is the excuse for giving him a pass, that he was already on the gas, it is really weak. Hench and Bell chickened out on calling it since it doesn't fit into the narrative of repairing his reputation. Quietly implicit is the notion that Josef is so good he wouldn't make that mistake.
