Willis and his dad have done so much to expand interest in vintage racing, and racing in general. I have also watched this father/son team evolve over the last 17 years. Would love to see more content like this, which I think was very well done.

Great to finally see some coverage of Vintage Racing in the US. Very nice to see younger generation enthusiasts participating as well. Keep up the good work Willis Woerheide!!

Willis....confident behind the wheel and in front of the camera. It's brilliant to be able to follow his progress and watch him race. Also great to get to see behind the scenes. Let's see more of the young guy and the preparations that go into racing one of these cars!

Willis in the Surtees CanAm car...what an inspiration for younger generations to learn about and appreciate racing history and get some hands-on learning about the cars instead of relying on online racing. The kid's a rock star...got to believe we'll be seeing more of him in the future. Kudos to him and his dad for inspiring him. Otherwise, loved watching the CanAms, even though the rest of the lineup are being driven by old men like myself.

Great video and Willis is an amazing young man. Watched him grow from being a runny nose pit mouse to a fine young man - we need more Willis. He is made for TV as much as he is made for the track.

Very cool to see the youngster Willis taking an interest in the historic Lola. As an avid Motor Trend Channel watcher, give us more :-)

Great video. Nice to see the historic racing getting some air time and promoting the young drivers. We need young people to have interest in these historic cars.

That #4 McLaren M6A spoken about, I recall that race where Bruce McLaren lapped the field in that 1967 victory at Laguna Seca; with Jim Hall in the Chaparral 2G finishing second. Given the superior engineering in that #2 orange McLaren M6B over that of the red #3 Lola T70, that #2 McLaren should have walked-away from the #3 Lola by around a second a lap. I get the impression the McLaren driver was being conservative; while the Lola driver was pushing it hard. The only time a Lola T70 pushed and overtook a McLaren M6A or B, on a dry race surface, was due to the McLaren experiencing mechanical problems, which was rare, indeed! This video pretty well sums up what the Can-Am races were like at Laguna Seca . . . it was _follow the leader._ Over the past 10 years I've read print articles regaling about the Can-Am series; with spoken and written wishes of its return. I was there as a spectator for Can-Am races; where after the waving of the green-flag, the cars strung out and settled down in their positions for the duration . . . it was more of a parade series than that of actual wheel-to-wheel racing dicing going on.

He was SO WRONG about the calliope intake stacks on the big block chevy, BBCs have two different intake ports, 4 long, 4 short, the stacks are different to make all the intake lengths the same length !!

Justin Bell - should know better!! 502CI too, not 510.
@alanlee80184 жыл бұрын
Charles, you are totally correct about the engineering, but I think that the "calliope" reference is misused. Calliope was the the Ford 3-valve experimental engine, and that used equal length stacks (because of proper head design).

What makes the Goodwood Revival so special is that they take all the great cars from an era.....and then add many fast drivers from the current era who push them hard. What you end up with is cars running quicker than they did in era and great racing with cars on their limit. What we see here is some of the former and little of the latter which is a shame, if still magnificent it lacks 'racing'.

Nope! Sorry, but you're wrong about the function of the velocity stacks on the Crower injection unit. Different length of the stacks equalized the different lengths of the intake runners on the BB Chevy engines.

When race cars become electric, I stop watching. A big part of the excitement in auto racing was listening to the roar of those high performance engines.
