My friend in high school received some inheritance money and bought a brand new S80 I was so jealous of him it was all black with black aftermarket wheels leather with speakers everywhere, I loved its exterior design and interior ergonomics, for a kid in high school to have one of these brand new you're doing something right

You act like he earned the money himself LOL 😆. Choosing a Volvo S80 in high school is an odd choice. Volvo is more of a middle aged person car.

Volvo continued to make this S80 for over a decade if I remember. Volvo’s tend to have long lifecycles. The Volvo XC90 was introduced in 2003 and is still only in its second generation since 2016.

It’s such a shame this turned out to be one of the most unreliable cars of its time - and only a decade removed from the legendary B21’s discontinuation. They would’ve had a home-run if the drivetrain had been as bulletproof as the Redblock and its respective transmissions, cause the S80 really is beautiful, inside and out, not to mention safe!

I had one of these. S80 T6. And a 2005 version also. Volvo FAILED TO RECALL them for faulty THROTTLE BODY which would fail without notice. I nearly was KILLED with my mom in the car on the highway when the car completely lost power next to a semi while I was in the fast lane with cars behind me. I was nearly forced to ditch into the median while other cars were diving around me and I was losing speed. Turbo was BANGING as my foot was to the floor. Car was towed to the dealer in London, ON. Thankfully they had a new throttle body in stock to replace after hours. Nice of them but HORRIBLE OF VOVLO.
