The 993 was the car I lusted for in High School. I was watching prices throughout the early 2000’s waiting for them to depreciate into my $30k range. They got down to the low 40’s around the 2008 financial crisis and have skyrocketed since. So much for that dream.

Why do you bad mouth Porsch in the first place? Porsch depending on which model your choice from. Maybe depanding which model your choice from can be cheap excepted the 911! The 911 ALWAYS you cost much more than the cheaper models! My Favor Porsch was any of the 928 models and trim line is in my hearts! My late father own Brand New a 1960'sh 356 C hardtop and my uncle had a 365 D more like a racing sport car. I was born in July 1969. All I do rember was it wasn't met to be like a family car. Yeah, in the early 2000s I got a used C5 Corvette convertible, but at the dealer they had some Porches as well, and for the $35k I was spending, if you wanted Porsche, you were getting a slow Boxster that didn't even look good. Had they had a 911 in that range I would have at least given it a look, but even the cheapest used one was in the 40s.

The Porsche 993 should've been in production from 1995-2005. I think it's safe to say nobody would really shed a tear if the 996 wasn't introduced in '99 SO soon after the nearly perfect 993 was introduced in '95. The 996 has grown on me, but it pales in comparison to the 993 or 997.

993’s bank vault build quality and industrial strength interior materials didn’t make it to the 996 though. Find a 996 today and slam the door on that versus a 993 and it will tell you all you need to know. Not hating on 996’s as I’ve had several and am a big fan of them

The air cooled Porsche’s are a nice blast from the past but almost as fussy and unreliable as the newer versions with things like IMS bearing failures that cost more to fix than the entire car is worth. And much less expensive cars from other countries can embarrass 911’s around even the German Nuremberg Ring. Welcome to “superior” German engineering.
