There was an era when a lot of great sports cars were a little underpowered, and tuners didn't offer decent support or warranties. In that era, Callaway was a game changer. Now, they charge 20k for vanity badges and an easy engine tune. What a shame. Good to know they make Callaway branded key fobs.
@shootergavin35415 жыл бұрын
I guess on of the advantages of the Callaway over others is that the Callaway upgrades do not void the factory warranty according to their website. One might find cheaper alternatives but they might void the warranty.
@SlickRick2146 жыл бұрын
Even if I had crazy money for everything I want, I still couldnt find myself spending an extra 18k for only 100hp. It looks so exciting to drive and that color really looks the best on it as it hides its size. It out performes the GT350R and the Demon on a track so for under $85k it makes sense unless you don't like its looks. Personally I would still prefer a used Viper or a 2018 GT350R.

Love the way the stability control 'panics!' and locks the front tyres up every time it goes round a corner!
@rlhmarines6 жыл бұрын
Ian Brown That is not the stability control, it's the driver doing that mid corner to induce a power slid due to the enormous front end grip these cars have stock. It is also a practice you can do if you get in a corner too hot is to stab the brakes to transfer weight back to the front wheels to quell a front end push or a lose of front end grip.
@ianbrown90826 жыл бұрын
Sorry rhlmarines but its the stability control....The front tyres can't lock up while the rears are doing a burnout as the brake pedal operates all 4 wheels remember. (unless this car has NO rear brakes) Also if this car had enormous front end grip like you say, it wouldn't need to be induced into a power slide because the car would naturally have oversteering tendencies. Watch it again in slo-mo....The car is ALREADY oversteering when the fronts lock up, bringing the car back in line (The whole purpose of stability control)

Why is it every time they do car review on a racetrack they show some guy drifting the car around the track. How many have someone in Lemans Racing ever won a race drifting the car around a curve . Then the review race driver complains about not enough grip in the tires , and it breaks loose so easy well after drifting a brand new set of tires around the track , what else do you expect they never say anything about the worn out tires trying to get the perfect camera shot drifting around a turn. So it’s just a waist of stock tires on a half stock car with all the money in the engine and stock suspension. What a waist of money
@davek126 жыл бұрын
The stock ZL1 1LE is already a giant killer. Your driver was driving like a madman. There's no way that I'd have been willing to do what makes the front tires light up like that or go within 1,500 of the redline with me shifting it. I'm sure the automatic is faster because it'll probably whip it harder than most stick drivers would and nail the shift. If offered, I'd probably accept a drive in an automatic over stick because I know it'd be faster for me. Daily driver is 6M BTW. That Camaro is a murderer, and it's time for people to spell it right.

Look around the web and you'll see that Callaway's cars are putting out nowhere near the power advertised. This is a trend going back decades. I have a 1999 Car and Driver article where they drove a supercharged Callaway Corvette and the reviewer couldn't tell a power difference from the stock car. He was driving in the Los Angeles area and wrote that the Callaway people told him it was probably just an issue with the altitude difference. I have a friend with a 2016 SC757 Z06 and she put it up on the dyno expecting somewhere in the 640-650hp range. Instead the car was putting down 570hp. When she went back home she took the car to RPM who put it on their dyno and got a similar number (4-5hp off). The cars are great looking (Callaway interiors are second to none) and exclusive, if that matters to you, but not worth the $$$ otherwise. Just my two pennies.
