Super work pat. This kind of info is way under rated. More helpful than what most people would want to care to admit, but I'll be practicing these for sure. Save the bike and my body for this 1st time 40 yr old rider

Thanks! I hadn’t seen it done and came up with it after my wife had a bad crash that could have easily been saved, so after teaching her some of these I thought it was fitting. It is usually overlooked though!

One of the most useful skills. It’s so easy to break bones when the bike lands on a leg or something. Thanks, Pat!

Cool! First YT vid I've seen teaching crashing techniques 😊. Useful info and not something I've ever thought of doing. Gonna try that trick at the end too 👏👏. Thx again for doing these Pat!

I hadn’t seen one before and thought it would be a good idea after teaching my wife some of these moves to hopefully save harder crashes.

That last part was cool, almost as entertaining as watching you juggle while static balancing. Great videos , keep em coming, and thanks for sharing! My first trials bike is ordered and will be here in a couple weeks. Can’t wait to try the basic techniques, I’ll probably get pretty good at crashing!

how does this guy only get like 20 views on his vids they are great
@krazed04513 жыл бұрын
The same reason he has criminally low views/subs... He doesn't play to the YT algorithm, he just releases quality content on his own schedule ;-)

Yeah the KZbin game is tough, especially if you aren’t all in, but as long as a few people get some value from them it’s all good!

Glad you did this vid, think my wee girl thought it was a bit weird that I teach her how to fall off/ditch her Oset, I have been vindicated, tho I am not the best at falling off...it's usually not very pretty :o)

Good on you for teaching it! I didn’t think of it until my wife had a bad crash that could have been saved, so we worked on it after that. Definitely important!

Nice video! It’s fun seeing what can be done with the motor off, like when you demonstrated hops in another how-to. So what are some good places to look to find moto trials events to watch in the Midwest? Anything near Des Moines?
@PatSmage3 жыл бұрын
There are a few clubs in the Midwest, the WI club, WOTA, has an event in Manchester, Iowa but that’s a bit more eastern. It’s an easy one to watch though. No nationals in the area this year though, Ohio would probably be the closest. Nebraska has locals and regionals in Nehawka as well. There is a nationwide calendar in the works that should help find events a lot easier!
@jeffhayes18553 жыл бұрын
@@PatSmage It was a trip to Manchester where I happened upon observed trials for the first time. I had 30 minutes free to stay and watch. Your father kindly explained the event.

I always wondered how the pros get off so gracefully. I figured they were planning where they could bail without killing themselves. You forgot one big one. Whenever I crash and go over the bars, I seem to freeze and ride it right into the ground. Probably the worst thing you can do under the circumstances. Cost me a torn up shoulder, rotator cuff and capsule. I have seen you jump over the handlebars when you had to. Do you practice that too or is it just instinct?
@PatSmage3 жыл бұрын
Ouch! Hope you have healed up or are doing so well. Guess I didn’t feel like going over the bars that day, haha! That one was something I learned as it happened and didn’t try to practice it. Sometimes there is nothing you can do, but the more it happens the earlier you can feel it coming, and the better you can prepare for it. If you see it coming in time, you can usually jump off the pegs to one side of the bars, and keep holding on. Takes some strength but sometimes you can keep the bike upright. Other times you just have to jump straight over and ditch the bike, just try not to clip the bars. That’s usually the most scary way to crash!
@nizak Жыл бұрын
Did you practice these things? Or did you just mess around with your bike for years and now you’re good?
