So the go pro hero 9, The latest go pro is not Combatable with a remote? Even though go pro themselves make a remote for that exact camera!?

GoPro changed the remote support for the GoPro 9. And they have only recently released an official remote that works with the 9. I haven't checked to see if Telesin has released a new remote yet that will support both the old and new protocol.

I don't have a video for that but I was finally able to track down a user guide from them that has the instructions. Here's what it says: • When new model camera come to market, there will be update accordingly. Please visit www.yoctop.com/remote to download firmware. • Press and hold Setting/Tag Button for 3 Seconds to enter the pairing mode. • Connect the Wi-Fi hotspot SSID HERO-RC-XXXXXX with your computer or smart phone. • Open 10.71.79.1 in your web browser. • Click Update Firmware to select the Firmware file. • Click Update button and wait remote to finish update, you can check the remote screen for notification.

I had mine since few weeks but ow dead it charge well ( red light ) and unit is full ( no red light ) but cant get anything on the screen any way to reset that unit ? thanks in advance

You might try downloading the current firmware here and installing that: www.yoctop.com/downloads-for-g02. . They also have a customer service e-mail address listed as [e-mail]. Let me know if that works for you.

On my 3rd Telesin rrmote, which I too use for MC riding. The charging icon/light never goes off when charged? I at times get a message on the remote "Ph on?" No idea what that means. The camera is connected to the remote. I'm using an external battery pack to run the GP8. The remote will stop showing the camera running. Then shortly after, turns itself off. The first remote worked well for about 25 hrs before I had any issue other than the charging in on never turning off. When I used the loop record feature set at 20 minutes, the remote stopped running at 20 minutes, the camera continued to record. That doesn't help me check to see if it is actually recording, as I don't see the camera mounted on the helmet. Now I just let it record continuously for 5 hrs or so. I've not been able to get the questions answered from Amazon support. TIA!

Nice toy! Will it sync up with older GoPros? Do you use bluetooth when on are riding? Oh, also love your idea for syncing audio!

It supports everything back to, and including, the GoPro 4. This is a WiFi remote. Not a Bluetooth.

I have the gopro smart remote already. I use a gopro hero 8 black with the media mod and a purple panda mic and a hero 7 black for the b cam I wonder if this works better than my current remote.?

Thanks for the great video! How do you control the light in the screen on the remote? If it's on all the time while recording, surely that would drain the battery it much faster. Please let me know..... there's nothing about this in their manual I saw online. Thanks again.

I don't think you can do anything with that. But, to be honest, I've not had a problem with the battery draining from the remote while I'm out riding. In fact, I think the last time that charged it was 2 weeks ago or so and I still have about a 30% charge.

The version I have will not work with the GP9. GoPro changed how they support smart remotes with the 9 and released a new remote themselves.

Damn it. How many of theses vids do you have in the can? Every time I turn around you’ve found something I need to buy. Not a Bluetooth connection? How does this stay connected without Bluetooth?

I may have one or two more coming. 😜 This is a WiFi remote. The upside is that the range is much greater than Bluetooth. The downside is that it isn't quite as reliable as Bluetooth. I'm not sure if the GoPro remote by GoPro is the same, but that could explain why people bitch so much about "unreliability". The Telesin worked really well when I was riding yesterday. And it is definitely nice to see the confirmation that your camera is actually running. Not to mention how much power you have left.

Let me know how that remote works for you if you go with it. Just be aware that it will not work with the GoPro 9. I saw where GoPro finally released their new remote for the 8&9. I'm gonna stick with this one though. Planning on sticking a rear camera on the bike when we ride the dragon in a couple of weeks so it will be nice to just hit a remote to turn that Session 5 and the 8 on.

From what I've read, this does the same things but is more reliable that the official GoPro remote. Plus it's only $46.

You may want to test it on your Hero 9 sooner rather than later. The Hero 9 appears to interface differently with remotes because the current GoPro remote does not work with the Hero 9. GoPro is developing a remote that will work with the Hero 9. If the Telesin works with the Hero 9, that would be great.

Hmmm... I'll try that tonight. I've had a great experience so far with the 8 and Session 5's hooked up. My GoPro 9 is my off-bike camera so I haven't paired that up yet.

No. Pair it once and you should be good to go. Unless you hit the Reset Connections on the GoPro at some point. But I hope you saw the update in the description that the GoPro 9 does not support smart remotes. Even the one that they make. This one works on the 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

"The firmware in the GoPro 9 no longer has the option to connect the GoPro to a smart remote." this is a very sad story, i didn't know this strange change in the nine generation, how could it happened? The camera become bigger and heavier, so it means that they could put there much more intellegent stuff... maybe they will make a new type of this remotes for cameras after Hero 8 ?

New remote released last week - only available in the US for now though. It's a way to sell more remotes and stop the competition very deceitful of GoPro! No doubt telesin and the likes can't copy this at the moment for a lower price!
