In my opinion the only weak link having prepared all these very simple & appropriate items, is the rider themselves. I keep seeing riders eating way too much/ or too little (particularly the food available at tracks like burgers & chips etc) during the lunch break. Then wondering why they're not able to concentrate & ride well the next session. Eat the right food little & often. Prepare & bring your own food + drink. Golden rule is if you feel thirsty, or hungry... You're already dehydrated &/or running low on energy. Avoid high sugar/glycemic index foods during the day to avoid glucose spikes & drops. This will all aid consistent concentration & energy levels towards solid progress during your tracktime. 👍 Thanks for another great video Simon!

I did around 8 track days at Silverstone last year, I rode the bike there and only took a pressure gauge. Don't need all that stuff, turn up and enjoy, you ain't racing.

You are right, first time on track with your road bike, just turn up and enjoy. The moment you start taking track days seriously you have all this and more with you every time. My tool kit is a different one to the one i leave at home, and it has only what i need. This way i know i got everything i need. Bags have different things and they are packed up the same way all the time.

Great advice on snack Simon, during my track days every time and I mean every time crashes start after lunch hour. Riders over eat and crash. Too much food and wrong kind of food as you say makes the brain not work.

For what it's worth, you should not leave a torque wrench set to a specific torque setting when not in use,. A torque wrench should be set to 0 or the lowest setting available when not being used.
@freshconnekt4 жыл бұрын
iamtherealzombie +1... Torque wrenches will possibly loose their calibration much quicker if left under tension for too long.

This is a list for riders that go to track days with their bike on a trailer. How about riding your bike back and forth to the track (which is what I do). You need to bring some spares (to get home), some tools, food, drink, tape, earplugs, second set of gloves, depending on the weather some extra clothes or a rain suit.

Hi There Love the videos Cheers. I just have a question. I've been riding on slicks. I'm fast C grade , slow to medium b grade. I've been given a set of tyre's they're the same one's john mc Guinness won I'll of man TT on. they are still "road legal tyres" . My slicks are almost chewed up, so I was going to put these tyres on next. Do you think they would be ok ? Or should I keep them for my road bike and put full slicks on my track bike ?

Simon, what motorcycle stand is good quality and good price? Bike lift will be okay or in this price I can get something better? What do you think?

Warmers aren’t essential it’s proven they reduce the grip on certain tires atleast that’s what a rep from Dunlop told me
@JoaoFerreira-qj4zp4 жыл бұрын
Hy :) Noob here.Probably super stupid question But, Can I use tyre warmers if I dont have stands?
@freshconnekt4 жыл бұрын
No
@motovudu4 жыл бұрын
You do need stands João
@motovudu4 жыл бұрын
Don't be afraid to ask any question you want :-)
@freshconnekt4 жыл бұрын
Yes Motovudu is right. Dont be afraid to ask questions. You really only “NEED” warmers if running slicks. I would buy a set of stands before I would by a set of slicks tho. You dont need slicks to be fast, you only need slicks to be really really fast. Unless you are running in the A group after many many track days you probably aren’t capable of riding at the limit of your street/track tires. Spend your money elsewhere for now.

@@freshconnekt @Motovudu thank you for the answers :) I'll be sure to check some more of your videos before I get to a track day.
