They got had by Motown. They could've been a million dollars selling group. I love every song they made, thank you 😊

so many of these labels didn't pay the artists fairly chess ,capitol etc volt stax and so on that's why it's called a business I hate to say this but white artists advances and pay was probably 10 times better and they didn't have racial sounding music charts like the black singles chart .
@musiclover-cn7tb Жыл бұрын
at first their financial records weren't made public so some of the artists never knew how many records they really sold it had to be guessed or estimated until someone allegedly tracked the sales they will never see all of the proceeds fake knockoff revue acts were also lying saying they were original members of certain groups agreeing to perform for cheaper prices to get paid the copycats made money from groups they were never part of .

Nice content on the velvelettes👏🏽🙌🏽I wonder if the shady secretary was Martha Reeves 🤔😄because in The Temptations movie she was secretary around that time.
@WBPTV Жыл бұрын
I thought about that too but couldn’t find evidence to back that up . If so then it would make sense to why 2 of the group’s members joined The Vandellas

Saw them live once in L.A. They were classy and beautiful ladies and rocked the crowd. I have a compilation album of their recordings and it was clear to me that they were asked to do a lot of inferior and bland material, but their signature hits still shine and sound like classic Motown. Don't miss "Needle in a Haystack". It will remind you of "Where Did Our Love Go" by The Supremes in its arrangement. Great record as was "He Was Really Sayin' Something".

Great video on The Velvelettes! I never heard this girl group, but when I looked up their music they got some great songs like Needle in a Haystack, He was really Sayin' Somethin, Lonely, Lonely Girl Am I, A Bird in the Hand and These things will keep me loving you. They were a great group along with The Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, and The Supremes. I would like to see you do Undisputed Truth and rock band Rare Earth. Keep up the good work! Once again a great video bro!

4:27 sounds similar to heatwave by the marvelettes their musicians had a signature sound even the funk brothers mr whitfield holland dozier - holland and many other session musicians that aren't given fair credit for their contributions.

Motown gave many promising acts the shaft. The Velvettes had all the right ingredients into being a rivaling girl group. However, Berry Gordy was just too far invested into making Diana Ross an all-out top priority, even while and during her tenure as a Supreme.
