Hey Kyle! Your tire reviews are the best on the internet. You're doing a great job. Thanks a lot for this! I'm Dora. I live in Poland. I have an Aprilia Tuareg 660. I change tires twice a year. In the period from June to September I travel with my family (my husband and son travel in a camper and I travel on a motorcycle). Then we go on long routes together, for example to Montenegro or Morocco... I mainly drive on asphalt, only when we get there we do some dirt together, but that's 10% of the entire trip. Then I need tires more for the road, but ones that can handle well in the forest or on dirt. I read your comments and I'm thinking about the combination: GPS in the back and Mission in the front, or maybe you can recommend an even better combination that will handle dirt better but will also be great on highways... At the end of September I change the tires to more cube-shaped ones (and I ride them until June), because I don't do such long routes on asphalt in winter, the only thing I do is take my son to school, but mainly I play in the dirt :D Please help me choose tires for long trips. So far I've been riding Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, but I want to try something new, unless you say that STR is the best for me and this type of motorcycle in this particular case :) Thanks a lot and best regards!

I love motoz tires. They never let me down here in Nevada desert (and commuting to work everyday) Excellent grip off road and very good longevity (from 6k to 8k miles on desert ht, and mountain hybrid, now on adv tire with a couple hundred miles on them)

Couldn't agree more! I LOVE the Desert H/T in Death Valley and Moab! What bike are you running them on, your DRZ? I would suggest you NEXT try the Xtreme Hybrid DOT tire as it is similar to the Mountain Hybrid... BUT it is 6 LESS rows of lugs... so you have MORE BITE with the same compound. They make it in a Gummy compound too. AMAZING traction and they are much lighter than the ADV tire. How are you liking the ADV tire? Did you go with the 120 or the 140 rear?
@Loiczzr

@@manybikes 120 rear and 90-90 front on the drz. So far the adv tires are good off road. Rode this past week with a guy on a GPS rear and a Dual Venture front out in the desert ... I was on the Desert HT, two other riders were on the RallZ and another was on the Adventure. All performed amazingly. The GPS rider said he felt like he was on a knobby. The GPS is the longest lasting Adv tire next to the K60 Scout. Great tires.

Thank you for sharing all this information....I love watching the "sand" riding....Great video with lots of good points....I'm looking to purchase tires for a 35 day ride in South America...the Motoz GPS and/or the Adventure just might be the correct tire for this ride...big bike (Super Tenere) so I need tires that will do the 5000+ miles and have a lot of tread left at the end of the ride...nasty dirt toward the end of the trip.....what do you think??
@manybikes
@manybikes 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds awesome! Needing to get tons of miles out of the tire on a big bike I recommend the GPS tire in the rear and the Adventure Tire or the new Dual Venture tire up front. When the going gets into deep sand and or mud... just air the GPS down to the low 20's and let the sidewall lugs do the work. Other than that... Have a Super trip!!!

The MOTOZ Tractionator GPS is definitely a great tyre for our hot and dry regions in Western Australia. Last September I did a 7500 km trip, including over 1300 dirt kilometres predominantly in 35-40C+ temps, from Albany in the south to the top border with the Northern Territory, Tyres were fitted to a 2016 SuperTenere which was quite heavily laden. They performed well within the limits of the bike and load, never giving me cause for concern. My only beef was with the front, it put high frequency vibes through the bars on sealed roads, but had all the grip I wanted. The tyres are strong, so are heavy, more so the rear. I would use another rear but try a different front purely because of the vibes. I am pretty confident that I could do the complete circumnavigation of the nation on one set. Thanks for the great video.

Fantastic real world feedback John, Thank you! Yes, the GPS is a great tire. I prefer to run the Adventure Front as the GPS front is "not dirty enough" for my style of riding. I have also paired the Dunlop TrailMax Mission FRONT tire with the GPS rear as was real happy with that combo. Thanks for watching!

Gday Kyle, thanks for all of your reviews you put up. Invaluable information for us all. Looking for some assistance. I'm currently running Metzler Tourance Next on BMW F800GS. They (just) get me through most of the dirt sections I ride, but I definitely need more offroad biased tyres to explore further, and obviously anything will be an improvement. Basically the options I have here are at the moment are Pirelli STR, Motoz GPS, or Mitas EO-7 and EO-7 plus. I have had some experience with the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR's- found them OK off road/excellent on road, and are tossing between the STR and the Motoz GPS. How much road ability (both wet and dry) will I give up going with Motoz over the STR. Conversely, is the GPS much better over a variety of dirt applications. Like the idea riding more dirt, but that STR is pretty good on the road, and like most of us, I need to cover some distance over some really nice sealed roads before the dirt starts. (Looking for front and rear, and willing to mix them up, and extreme long mileage isn't a priority.) Thanks
@manybikes
@manybikes Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your inquiry Paul. The STR is one of the best feeling tires on the road and it is "ok" off road. The GPS tire is fantastic, but will feel a bit sluggish compared to the STR on the street. This is due to the stiff sidewall, super deep tread blocks. It holds its own on the pavement in the dry and the wet. It will surprise you... air it down off road and it will provide knobby like traction. It is a great tire.

Great Video Kyle. I’d appreciate your advice. I have a new 1250GS with the Battlax A41’s as stock. They are fine on the street but haven’t taken then off-road yet. They don’t look like they’ll be great for my expected 70/30 usage (no soft sand). So thinking the GPS front and rear. Do you think this would be a good fit for the GS and would going to an “adventure” on the front make sense with the 70/30 usage? If you have another brand / combo in mind do tell….Thanks again.

Have been running the tyres for the last 13000 km or there about. Mostly positive , we had one major issue on a recent trip , on crossing a 3 metre wide rocky creek bed , a stone put a 6 mm tear in between the treads through the carcass , causing rapid deflation and the tyre coming away from the bead. Major headache , which could not be repaired on the side of the road ( no ratchet strap ) , the mechanic at a outback station also had issues in trying to rebead so as to find the leak. Good on most surfaces , except small sharp rocks.

The Mission front is that 10% more aggressive than the GPS and that is the reason I typically run the ADV Front / GPS Rear. Now... the GPS rear mounted in the 50/50 direction is I am going to say a good 10% Dirtier than the Mission tire. The GPS is also wider and flatter so there is much more rubber on the ground as compared to the round profile of the Mission tire. Both are great... but they are DIFFERENT. Crazy eh... @@manybikes how is it compared to the Anakee adv on paved dry and wet? 🙂

@@Erknlssn it’s as smooth as the Anakee Adv but much more aggressive off road at the same time. I’ve ridden both on wet roads without issue.

Silica is hydrophilic

The Silica "repels or disperses the water thus I refer to it as hydrophobic. Looking it up, byjus.com says, "Hydrophilic means water loving; hydrophobic means resistant to water. 2. Hydrophilic molecules get absorbed or dissolved in water, while hydrophobic molecules only dissolve in oil-based substances. ... 4. Hydrophilic molecules are polar and ionic; hydrophobic molecules are non-polar."

Will the tire wear out in off-road mode faster than in 50/50 mode?

Nope! Same longevity either direction. I prefer the mostly off road direction.
