That's cool to see a load-in (build) like that. Do you know details of that build? Was it a 2 day load-in? Looked like rigging was pretty prominent. A lot of movers even in the house. Loved the drapes and set pieces. Oh yeah, how many trucks? 15-20ish?

Just out of curiosity, will the touring companies also have a build out like this? I saw the show in NYC in fall 2019 and the theatre transformation was such a huge part of the experience that I want to temper my expectations for when the show potentially comes around in Toronto or Buffalo.

For the tours it's scaled down more to accommodate the smaller spaces. They don't have the catwalk type thing that juts out, and the "Moulin Rouge" sign at the beginning isn't as long. But they do as much as they can with what they are given. ( I've seen it both on Broadway & tour )

I agree! when i saw the tour after going to broadway, i was shocked by how similar everything was. just as vibrant and exciting, on a smaller physical scale

From my experience seeing it in a few touring cities, only some theatres will get the elephant and moulin. Some will not get it. It is a bummer, but they try to do a good job with the ambiance, lighting, and music before the show.

I just saw the tour - it’s pretty downscaled but the cast is insane and the show is just as magical
