Thank you for sharing. That was beautiful. Your one fit fella. No huffing and puffing. Well done.

Haha, appreciate that, sometimes I huff and puff, but this time I took it easy to keep from getting wet from the inside:-)

I went there a couple of weeks ago and the road was closed from Grassy Hollow.

This was last Thursday, 8 days ago, drove up from the Wrightwood side because of road closure.

Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing! I'd love to do it too, do you think I'm going to need a guide as I don't know the area?
@NorwegianXplorer3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the time of year, you could join SoCal hikers group on facebook and see if anybody there will join you, its a good group of people who know the peaks around socal very well.

Hello! I’m back to ask you more questions if you don’t mind. I’m planning to do this hike soon and am shopping for micro spikes. Should I get crampons or micro spikes? And if so is there a brand you recommend?
@NorwegianXplorer3 жыл бұрын
Crampons for this one, not micro spikes. Petzl or Black diamond have good ones, also an ice axe for self arrest

Thinking of hiking this one this weekend! How much water did you bring?
@NorwegianXplorer4 жыл бұрын
I dont remember, prob a couple og Litres:-)

What did you use the ice axe for? I’m planning on going during the winter time. Would trekking poles be enough or is an ice axe a requirement?
@NorwegianXplorer3 жыл бұрын
Its a Petzl axe, for Baden-powell it is recommended ice axe and crampons, it can be dangerous without self arrest equipment if you slip and fall

@@NorwegianXplorer thank you! I’m new to winter hiking and would like to do some. I did mount Baldy last month but there was no snow, I was thinking I could do this one but I haven’t hiked during the winter. If I got the proper equipment would this be a good first winter hike? Or is there an easier one you recommend in the Southern California area? Thank you for your time
@NorwegianXplorer3 жыл бұрын
@@durzoblint415 That is a difficult question, could you go with somebody who have experience? I might recommend Baldy via the Ski hut to the summit in snow, following the trail and not the mountaineering route, just to get a felling for the equipment in snow. Baden-powell should be ok if you have trained self arrest with an ice axe so you can stop a fall.
@durzoblint4153 жыл бұрын
@@NorwegianXplorer I will ask. My coworker is the only person I know who has experience. I believe that’s the route i did when I did Baldy. That’s the one where you come down off of devils backbone instead in going up it right? I haven’t practiced self arrest before but I would love to practice and learn. How could I practice it? Just go on the mountain and do a controlled slide to self arrest?
@NorwegianXplorer3 жыл бұрын
@@durzoblint415 Yes find a place where you can slide down and stop without any risk. You should not do Devils backbone in snow, thats dangerous, go up and down the same route via the Sierra Ski Hut.
