Footage from a solo overnight backpacking trip where I climbed Mount Carrigain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I had a great time climbing this 4000 footer and testing out the newly designed Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo.

It's great to see you out again! I've been waiting patiently for your next video. Beautiful scenery. Watching this just made my weekend a lot better. I've been laid up all summer with medical issues myself and haven't been able to get out and do any hiking or camping at all, so I know how you feel. Great job and keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next one

Finally getting to replying to this comment Mark...so sorry for the delay...The Lunar Solo is a pretty sweet little rig...it's really everything that I would look for in a tent I think...I have been pretty impressed with it, save a few caveats which I will probably talk about in a review at some point. I actually just picked up the Gatewood Cape a few days ago too and am really excited to play around with it...set it up in the yard and was really impressed...it's like a little Lunar Solo without the inner...came in at 13 oz. on my scale which is pretty awesome.

Good stuff. The Pemigawasset area is sweet. As a boy, we just drove on past, LOL. My dad couldn't be bothered to stop. Up to Coos County, all else be damned!
@MossStoneWoodlore6 жыл бұрын
I love the Pemi :D...My favorite is probably the Sandwich Wilderness, mainly because it does not get as much use and there are a lot of hidden gems out there, but the Pemi is truly breath taking. Coos is way up there! Any particular favorite spots ?

Brother Moss! Great video! Loved seeing you out again. What a glorious park you choose. Nothing like that Fir/Pine smell right?! Setup looked nice. Good colour choice anyway. Lol Brother!!!! Please please PLEASE tell me you didn’t rehydrate in the ziplock bag??? If you did, please don’t do it again. Adding boiling or near boiling water to one of those bags will leech dangerous chemicals out of the plastic and into your food. There is plenty of research online to back this up. You will harm yourself if you keep doing it. Please stop. All out of concern. Had to pass along the warning. Heed it my brother. That said, I hope to see more of your adventures again soon. Always a joy to watch your hikes. Be well Craig
@MossStoneWoodlore6 жыл бұрын
Hi Forestwalker, duly noted about the ziplocks (I use freezer bags which are designed to take hot food after blanching etc.). I've read differing opinions regarding their safety, but perhaps I will revisit the issue though and then decide :) Thanks for watching Craig, I hope all is well on your end :D -Loch

Good outing. Nice tent setup. Do you still have your Korean war era wool sleeping bag liner? I bought one after seeing you use yours as a protective cover for your sleep system long ago. I really enjoy mine. Good to see you doing well and back out in the woods. God bless my friend.

Hi Jon, sorry for the delay in replying to this comment. I do still have the Korean war era wool sleeping bag, but in all honesty I have not used it in years. I do plan on using it again sometime for a say... a lollygag trip where we don't hike in very far and want to cowboy camp next to a fire...but these days I have been using my lightweight gear and trying to cover some miles. Those wool sleeping bags are definitely really cool and it's fun to own a piece of history. I hope all is well on your end. Happy trails! -Loch
@jonfornwald6 жыл бұрын
All is well with me thank you for asking. I've been praying for your health and hope your doing well. I agree the wool liner is a cool piece of history and very specific in it's use. Not something to pack and use every trip out. Thanks for the reply and God bless you my friend. Dallas TX signing out.

You punk. Where the hell have you been?😁😁😁 I went back last week to watch your wool Army sleeping bag overnight and it was missing. Looking forward to watching your video here but I have to run off to work. I hope you're doing well and your health is good. Cheers

Hi Ray :) It has been too long since I have checked in with everyone! I've just had a lot of things that I had to take care of this past year. We sold our house and moved which was a lot of work and it took up a lot of my time. We also had some health issues in the family which was pretty stressful (things are good now thankfully). But I am all setup now to make some more videos, so I am hoping to start getting some content out again :D Regarding the video that you were looking for...I ended up taking down quite a few of my older videos because I just felt that they did not really represent where I wanted to head with the channel going into the future. Most of my backpacking trips these days involve lightweight gear and I don't really see myself using a lot of the heavier gear very much anymore (my back has thanked me ;-). Not to say that I'll never bust some of it out again once and a while for fun, but I have just not used any of it in years so I decided to "tune up" the channel to be more representative of how I backpack these days. Some folks have not really liked my decision to thin our the videos, but...well I guess it is what it is hehe. Thanks for sticking with the channel and checking in. I hope that things are going well on your end! Happy trails man :) -Loch

@@MossStoneWoodlore , well, I appreciate the long response. I hope all continues positively for you and yours. I enjoy the bushcraft overnights more than hikes, I must admit. And NH is part of my DNA, so to speak. I am missing your video as I type. Let me actually watch it. 😁😁 Cheers.
