This is such a *fantastic* cover! I love this style of guitar and yours in particular is so catchy. Maybe it's my imagination but it seemed like you really got into a zone during the 2nd half; the percussion just felt like it had more *oomph* to it, and the strings more pluck (pun intended). Just so good.
@AntonBetita2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I try to create a sense of movement or progression in my arrangements. Sometimes that includes stronger plucking or changing up the percussion, or - one of my favorites - doing an octave change. Just like I did in this arrangement. Compare the first time I played the "verse" (0:14) vs the second time I played it (1:58). The first time around, I was playing in a lower pitch, or "octave", and I wasn't doing any percussion/drumming yet. The second time around, I played it on a higher pitch, AND I added the percussion. This is what I mean when I say progression; subtle changes to differentiate the second go from the first one, so it doesn't sound like I just played/looped the same exact sequence twice. I feel like that's important especially when you're playing instrumental and don't have the luxury of having different lyrics from verse to verse to achieve a sense of progression. Sometimes, the changes are so subtle, people don't even realize it happened lol. But as long as they FEEL the difference - even if they're not necessarily sure what made it feel that way - then I feel like I've achieved my goal of creating a sense of dynamic or movement or progression.

Normally I watch one video on youtube, and suddenly my youtube recommendations are a million more videos from the same uploader and it drives me insane. This time? Totally cool with it. BTW: I would kill to hear a bunch more from Final Fantasy (one). Gurgu Volcano in FF1 was one of my favorites, but also Garland's Theme, Matoya's Cave, and the town theme.

I'm a huge fan of your videos. I regularly sit in disbelief when thinking that you don't have millions of views. You actually inspired me to fetch my guitar from my parents' house to learn properly this time around since I vaguely messed around with tabs when I was like 15. I'd like to ask you a question if you don't mind: are you self-taught? If so, did you learn everything (music theory, etc.) yourself? Keep up the great vids!
@AntonBetita3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, and I'm glad my videos have inspired you to pick up the guitar again! Yes, I am self-taught. I wouldn't say I learned EVERYTHING by myself. I learned the basics from friends and family who played before me. I didn't really know much about theory until a couple years ago. Even now, after having done my own research, I still don't know much about the highly technical aspects of theory. I do have a better understanding of the basic fundamentals now though, such as why 4-chord songs are so popular and such.
@Spaylz3 жыл бұрын
@@AntonBetita Thanks so much for taking the time to answer! Feeling even more inspired! It's amazing that you can reach such a level all on your own (or almost). I'll be looking forward to your next video! I've been wondering if The Man with the Machine Gun is doable on acoustic...
@AntonBetita3 жыл бұрын
@@Spaylz Y'know I've often thought about doing a cover of Man With the Machine Gun... but I haven't gotten around to it and I'm just having a bit of a hard time picturing the arrangement on Solo acoustic guitar because there are so many layers playing at the same time in that track. But who knows, someday I might have a cover of it!

Kupo?! Thats amazing, Kupo! How do you approach creating arrangements?
@AntonBetita4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, kupo! I usually find the chords first and foremost, and then try to find the melody by ear. Sometimes I will transpose the entire song to a different key to find a more comfortable chord-melody fingee position

@@AntonBetita FFIX soundtrack is the best.. my fave is "Final Battle"? I love the version from "Piano Collections" so much, might be close to impossible for guitar but u doing magic like in this video.. maybe want to try? :D

Btw I would 100% pay for tabs of your arrangements, or even just for some written down chords
@AntonBetita4 жыл бұрын
I don't usually have written down chords for my FF covers because I get them from a music sheet, so I don't feel the need to write them down. But sometimes I'll have written down chords for my other non-FF covers, and I put em up on my community tab here or on facebook/instagram
