I am an old disabled ex-army vet, and what I did because I am limited in what I can do is, I have a trike sports rider 3 wheeler disability scooter, however it just can't carry all my needs when I go sea fishing, so I bought from amazon one of those wire type garden trailers for at the time under £80 I also bought a bicycle trailer hitch, the male end went on the trailer where normally the hand puller goes, didn't need that so kept for some other project, the female end of the hitch went on the back of the scooters rear bar, I just used self tapping screws, and so far I have clocked up a fair few miles running to the nearest sea beach it carries all I need and I made a folding table for my gas cooker and prepping food the table is just two wooden slabs hinged together and self tappers screwed into the square tubing, if the worst comes to the worst I now can bug out, it is supposed to do around 22 miles, but in the near future I will put two more marine batteries in the trailer as it is 24 volts that should give me quite a few miles more and I would cut the speed limiter and be able to scoot away from bad people. Remember no welding involved at all, Jim from Scotland. love your trailer and bike.

A few suggestions if I may: Inside the tubing, you could fit aluminium rods to be used as shelter props. Say 4 x props to make two ends of an A frame. Make yourself 3 or 4 large waterproof bags to fit snug inside the frame. If they're not waterproof, then just cover with a specially made tarp. And finally, try an electric mountain bike Dave. You just can't beat them. They're getting better and better now. Much more efficient. With a spare battery you'll be able to get 60+ miles out of them. They're also a lot safer if you need to get back if you're injured, bitten by a snake whatever. They're excellent for uphill and for carrying heavy loads. Worth considering.

What’s good about this is that, let’s say you and Nick were out backpacking and trail riding and either you or he gets really badly hurt and the only way out is to put you in the cart and pedal out of there. In that case the cart becomes like an ambulance and it would need to be sized to fit a man. I know it won’t be comfortable, but opposed to leaving a man behind to look for help, it’s a valid option

Hey, Dave, very interesting system. I suggest you add a kit of J-B Weld Kwikweld to your repair kit. The Kwikweld sets in only 6 minutes, is steel reinforced and waterproof. Also bring along a roll of Gorilla brand duct tape, their small roll is called "Mini Duct Tape to-Go", 1" x 10 yd Travel Size. A selection of various size zip-ties are often quite useful as well. You can fix just about any unexpected issues with those three items. I keep them in my backpacking and camping gear, as well as in my Get-Home-Bag. Enjoy your rig.

Another idea for the floor, and possibly the sides Dave would be to use Corex sheeting. It's that corrugated/honeycomb sheeting they use to protect flooring, or estate (property) agents use it for their FOR SALE signage. If you were to use the stiffer one. Use could also use them for emergency ground insulation if you needed (to stop conduction).

Thanks, Im glad you liked it. Lol, I stay out of the woods during deer season. I hit the rivers. Those plates are 1/8 inch thick welded to the .040 tubing. Outstanding. The bike is freaking awesome and the trailer is so cool. In the event you needed to change out the bottom or if you wanted to put in some sideboards, black corrugated plastic like for political signs would work great and weigh nothing. That could trailer is a game-changer for long outings too. You could bring an inverter, LiPo4 batteries, portable solar panels, a diesel parking heater in the winter or fans in the summer, fishing gear, a small kayak....hardly any limit on what you can do with that. It is fine just like it is. Placing the tools in the bag for rigidity was a genius idea.

Hey Dave. Nice rig! Great color choice and good call on the 21 speed. Love the Rambo shirt as well! I suspect, however, that the weight of the cargo will rub holes in the floor material from the tools. What if you had a MOLLE system on the walls? Then you could attach your tools for easy access. I remember your previous project. What if you did the same here and make a removable dinner table/work bench as a floor? Also, It might be better to have an enclosed trailer. That way you can collect things like firewood, bark, twigs, fireplace rocks etc., without anything falling out. Then a waterproof cover (fabric) will keep your gear dry and clean. If you had to pack up in a hurry due to a flash flood, fire etc , you could simply pile everything in and go. I understand your point about using the exposed frame for your bungees, but you could also weld on loops for them. What about using the available space on the bike frame for your machete/large knife? Having a self defense tool handy wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks for the great video. I'm sure you'll have a blast with your latest creation!

Hi Dave, just one more thing, if you adjust your seat height so that your leg is almost ( with a slight bend) straight when your foot is on the peddle at its most downward stroke, you will find pedalling the bike way easier on the old legs. Having the seat too low makes you use too much energy wasted energy to propel the bike forward. Hope that helps.

Brilliant Dave. Well done ol' bean. The king of outdoorsman ingenuity. You had a vision and with your tenacity you saw it through to a success. I'm pleased for you that you're happy with it - deservedly so. Two things I learned in this video: that you can get extra thick bicycle tyre liners. And trailers need two bike stands Terrific video

That floor fan you have I've got one like it. That thing was always in the way and underfoot so I built a new bracket with swivel joint and a heavy duty articulating wall bracket like they have for tv's. Now if its smokey from welding I can point it at the man door extricate the smoke in a couple min, working on a hot engine gets pinpoint cooling and exhaust blown out the garage door, hot and sweaty from yard work, fan feels great on the back of the neck.

I just move mine around because I cant have it blowing away my argon while tig welding. I just aim it at my legs and feet then. Lol.

Pretty cool setup!! You could have several small cutouts like you find on folding army cots in a liner leaving the frame open for bungees's. Could use velcro to hold it to the frame between the cutout . . . ;>)

Love the new trailer design and the color is great. I have a couple thoughts. For the bag holding the tools on the bottom. The opening may pick up mud being in the front. Next the top of the trailer could make a great table frame if you made a canvas strap on cover. Of course not for a stove unless you did carry a piece of metal. Next have you tried adjusting the height of the seat? Sometime that simple thing will make an amazing difference. Thanks for sharing the steps you took to create this video it really shows how much thought and effort you put in. Peace, Love and Freedom 🇺🇲

Thanks, Im glad you liked it. Hopefully that 8 inches of under fold wont pick up mud but, time will tell. I thought about setting sticks on the trailer as a table or sitting it upright with sticks as a shelf! I am maxed out on seat post height and need a taller one. Thanks for watching

Since you made the trailer to haul your army cot and you have tubing left it wouldn't take much to make removable tubing brace/ bracket to hold the cot. You could even use a threaded rod with a flat plate welded on the bottom as stabilizers on the corners. Not sure if your cot has the brackets for the mosquito netting poles or if you'd need to add something. You could almost have a little camper. Sorry for rambling on again but your videos always gets these rusty old gears turning again. With all that said i love what you made. Thank you so much for sharing your ingenuity and building skills with us. God bless and stay safe.

Love your ideas and watching it come together. I do think I would have attached the straps to the front so it is easier to access the internal bag. I think it cries out for an ebike to pull it and you have plenty of space for extra batteries and even a solar cell. Mokwheel makes an inverter/ solar charger for their bikes as an idea. Either way Love it and thanks for sharing
