Hey Seth! I work in a cabinet shop and have been watching your videos for years! Little tips for ya if you are working on a nice project. Always clamp before you start pocket screwing. If clamping isnt an option, screw the screw into the second board just a bit, back it out, then screw it in. This all will make the boards come together tightly. Another way to make the panels line up nicely is using either a biscuit or domino. You can look into the tools that cut those if interested. They are great for making table tops (flat) or lining up two panels that make a 90 degree angle. Anyways I love your content, mountain biking, your garage, and especially the frenchies!! If you ever are in Montana and need a tour guide let me know!

Your pocket screws should be going from the outside in. With how you have it set up, the screws are grabbing closer to the end grain of the ply. With the screws angled inwards from the outside, there is a smaller chance of ripping out because the wood is stronger the farther away you get from the end grain, ie towards the center. If you check out Steve Ramseys pocket hole video, he does an example that explains this. I’d also recommend picking up a Kreg K5 or K4 if you’re gonna do pocket hole joinery in the future! It really streamlines the process and eliminates screw ups. Hope all is well Seth!!

I know every one has some advice for you so here's mine: Many drills these days are flat on the back or side. This allows you to use a store bought adjustable multi angle square or your own homemade jig to drill a hole that is tilted up. This way you don't need that large wheel part on the ends of your hooks for things not to slide off. But better yet w/o those it will hold larger items like coats & backpacks. When you add more they will all match. Great vid, though. I always enjoy the woodworking ones so much.

Love your channel & extremely jealous of your setups. Re: pocket screws: the piece you said you put them on the wrong side of was actually the preferred way to use pocket screw for joining. By being on the outside edge the angle of the screw into the other piece is grabbing more wood and reducing the chance of blowing out. You have enough screws that it's probably not going to make a difference, but if you find yourself making drawers in the future make sure you're doing them the correct orientation!
