Mountain Biking to an UNBELIEVABLE VIEW (Shuteye Peak is INSANE!)

I rode mountain bikes up to the top of Shuteye Peak and the views up there are unlike anything I have ever saw before. The mountain bike loop includes 4 downhill single track segments off the back of the mountain. But you could do this on a gravel bike and just do an out n back.
My mountain bike is a Canyon LUX ( • NEW BIKE *MTB* DAY! (U... ), very XC and doesn't have a ton of suspension so it FLYS uphill, but the pilot is a big ol scardy cat so going down takes me some time. The more I ride mountain bikes the more I fall in LOVE with them. But no reason to not ride all the bikes, so if its got wheels, imma riddin that thang.
I end this mountain bike video with an intimate discussion about time management with my wife, as well as show you our local bear getting into my trash. Shuteye peak was a phenomenal ride and HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Also, please tell me how those rocks form. so crazy.

The WC narration is soooo awesome, nicely done Tyler!! You'll pick it up, it seems crazy at first but you develop the skills over time. Tire pressure is so so important in MTB to get that traction dialed. While we won't see you on the EWS circuit, you'll get it. This was a great edit.

Triple kudos to Ryan for riding the gnarly MTB trails after braking his neck. I know exactly how difficult it is after coming back from any major injury. I broke my neck 3 years ago in a bike race. Same injury as Christopher Reed aka “superman” and very similar to Tim Don’s accident. C2 fracture with 40mm screw installed in my neck. 4+ months in a neck brace but sooo thankful to still ride and do what I love. An experience like that definitely changes your outlook on life. As always thank you for sharing an awesome vlog VC 🤙

Yeah man, I think its because looking at MTB from the outside, it seems easy. Your average MTB bro makes impossible stuff look easy, let alone dudes that really send it. So unless you've actually been down a trail behind a MTBer, it's super hard to understand just how difficult it is. That's why I advocate to RIDE ALL THE BIKES. Because it also goes the other way for the fat tires to see the difficulty and dedication to being a fit roadie. Ride all the bikes on all the roads. Or walk the bike in my case 😂

This is a _frickin'_ awesome video. I've seen Shuteye Peak on the topo maps, but I've never been. I'm headed to The Pines (Bass Lake) next week - if I had a proper MTB... oh who am I kidding, I have no MTB skills. And wait, wait, waaaait.... Ryan suffered a fractured C7 vertebra?! The Hell?! Outstanding that he's back on the bike - what a Beast! BTW, I absolutely respect the 100%-100%, end to end, that's a great discussion to have. Always support those that support us. Great video, man. Absolutely loved it.

at 13:30 and 13:47 it appears your seat is high. it is easier to control your bike when you lower your seat when going downhill. it's a rule of thumb to always lower your seat when going downhill. becha you could've clear those lines if you've lowered your seat.

Haha! Yeah. Mountain biking. Up steeps. The front end gets lite and when you look at something, your head's weight shifts the bike's direction there. It really is your bike will go where you look. That's the challenge. Giving big bursts of energy in a low gear, high torque and the front end gets lite. Fine balance between keeping the front end with traction and direction and yet not too much that your rear wheel slips out. Awesome ride you guys.

@jackvanuatu
@jackvanuatu 4 жыл бұрын
You got to drop the roadie mentality. On downhill technical sections you need to be standing on your pedals to lower the center of gravity, and lower the seat to the extent that it doesn't interfere with your low body position. You also need speed and momentum to help you keep balance and also in order for the suspensions to work properly. It's actually more difficult to go "slow" in technical downhills. Also, please reverse the slammed stem. The higher your bars the better it is for the technical downhill. Awesome video and awesome trail! You are so lucky you live only 20mi away!

Both of us were saying that we might as well not race. As we were standing there the best mtn biker in VT rode up to the section, jumped off his bike and ran through the rocks carrying his bike. If you didn’t know that drones were restricted prior to the ride, doing a quick google search on the regulations in the area before leaving is an easy way to find out if they are permitted or not.
