I'm partial to you calling him Dad, family is a big part of why I like this channel. Nice work, I'm a retired electrician / carpenter and just recently teaching myself to weld / metal work, so I pick up alot by seeing how you do things, thanks!

Hey Shawn and Shane, I've really enjoyed seeing the two of you working together. I used to work on things with my Dad when I was your age. But I lost my Dad in 1994 and I've missed him so much, especially when I had a project to work on. I personally like you calling Shane DAD, it shows him the appropriate respect and if any viewer watches long enough, they'll learn what his name is. Shane, the fireplace looks great. You pulled it through with the rust appearance, I never would have thought it could look that good, but I like it. Great Job.

Boy, you struck a cord‼️ Dad is DAD‼️ My daughters 40 years old, She introduces me as dad to all her friends, any kind of friends. They already know my last name, but I actually enjoyed being called even the ones that aren’t. I suppose I’m gonna be the last generation that cares so much about it, but that man gave you life. And then the other end of it he gave you a lot of talent you’re showing it now to us in your show. Keep up the good work.

When it comes to rust patina. We always put a flame on it, a spray bottle , and a flame.
@ICIWX8 сағат бұрын
We rust steel all the time, ice melt and vinegar is our go to. We always lock it in with penetrol and finish it with car wax. Paint doesn't like to stick to the rust, but the oil and wax creeps into the pours of the steel. Looks amazing!

I vote for "Dad", in your work setting that is perfect. If father and son are owners in a work place and interacting with multiple staff then probably first names are good to avoid any nepotism. I'm a retired teacher and my students who are now 60 years old still address me as "Mr". Shane, I also have a twin sister. I refer to her as "my older sister" ... 12 minutes older. lol

Your Dad does great work as a welder...guess a heritage that runs in the family. Thank you Sean...
