An honest "that wasn't bad" after pressing that pin...after hours of burning, and restarts/ adjustments to the plan, while the special press hangs in the air off a forklift, with all kinds of other necessary gear is scattered about. Amazing how the spirit can be trained to endure. And that some folks calibrations are just different than others (after years of hard earned development). Much respect.

I worked over 40 years in the underground mining industry. I have removed a lot of broken bolts by inserting black pipe nipples in bolt holes. It does not require welding the full length of the nipple. The nipple sticking out the holes was long enough to get a pipe wrench on to remove the broken bolt.
@JeffM-fy8tzАй бұрын
I was just going to make a similar suggestion using a piece of black. Not having threads makes the pipe a little stronger and more length gives a bit more for the pipe wrench to bite on.

Some bolts with the heads cut of and slotted ends two per gasket would hold gaskets in place and act as a guide for the inlet manifold. The guide pins can be used for lots of situations. We use them on engines sealing with RTV sealant as moving stuff around to install it can wipe it off. They help take the weight as well! Love the content not worked on Tracked vehicles.

Had to be welded (Field fix I am guessing) or replaced as the teeth were worn on the track halves of the master link. The four bolts clamp the two components together but the teeth hold the location. Worn teeth is just going to chop the bolts or loosen them under load. Heavy work.

Removing broken bolts by drilling was something we did a lot of back in the day and used a series of plugs. bar steel runoff in the lathe to match the bolt size and centre drilled with increasing sizes so you fed your drill through the plug onto the work leaving you always centered on the work right up to your threads.
