Mountain Equipment Lhotse Jacket with new GORE-TEX Pro

Sold! After having a fairly wretched run with Haglofs (three Roc Spirits dying inside a year) I've returned home to ME jackets. This review swung it for me, so thanks for such a technical, well researched review. I was torn between the Shivling and the Lhotse, but the Lhotse's won the day.

Just bought one of these after my last Mountain Equipment Jacket finally went at the seams after about 15 years of frequent use. That one was a lighter-duty one made from Goretex Paclite, I forget the model, but I swear by ME. My budget was £180 but I managed to find one of these on sale for £240 and couldn't resist. Can't wait to try it!

Personally i think Mountain Equipment does the best hoods (Hood peaks) of all waterproof jacket brands. I have a 7 year old Mountain Equipment Kongur Jacket that is still going strong. Not a fan of water resistant zips (give me a double storm flap over a normal zip any day) but they do the job.

Nice technical review, I have just purchased one of these Lhotse's (in citronelle colour way; yellow/lime) and I am more than happy with it. Luckily for me I live very close the the HQ of Mountain Equipment here in the UK and was able to get my jacket at less than 50% RRP from their factory sale, which makes it an even BIGGER bargain in my eyes! I like using the best gear, but I only have a limited budget, so buying up salesman's samples is how I manage to kit myself out. ME gear really IS unbelievably quality, I got a duck down sleeping bag earlier in the year too and that has been a god send on my wild camping trips in the UK.

Hi I am looking at a "new surplus" with tags 2014 "Gor-tex pro" Oakley jacket.. How does this fabric compare to new 2021 Gor-tex pro ? As example How does it compare with a 2020 Mountain Hardwear Exposure/2 GORE-TEX Pro Jacket ?

Excellent review again Craig. I was just wondering, do you know if the Marmot Alpinist Jacket uses the most recent GORE-TEX Pro membrain? I bought one earlier in the year and have been wondering ever since.

If there's a grid pattern on the inside of the fabric it's the new one. Also I think the new version says "Gore Tex Pro" rather than "gore Tex Pro Shell" on the jacket.
