Thank you for posting. Im afraid that by the time I got there I was so tired and out of breath I missed a lot of the "excitement". At least I can relive it through some well shot footage

Most of it was shot with a Sony DSC-HX100V. A few segments were shot with a Canon Power Shot SX20. The Sony camera is great and I would highly recommend it. Have a great trip! The trekking was an incredible experience.

What are the video zooms, on the Sony? My Sony has an optical 50 X zoom for video, plus more digital zoom very clear making a total 200 X. And then much more digital zoom going up to maybe about 500, but which is not very clear (or that is just for still images, not video).

They probably won't use a drone, but it might give a much better view, and might be no problem for the gorillas.

Their pupils are sure different. They seem to move from the center of the eye and then relax over to a corner of the eye.
@leslieann546 жыл бұрын
No their eyes are the same as ours they don't want direct eye contact & trekkers are told to never make eye contact as that is a sign of dominance & we know who's the dominant one on that mountain!

0:43 It is amazing how much human muscle work those terraces were to build, or did other animals get used to make them? Fruit trees on swales might be a lot less work, and a lot healthier.

Do both silverbacks mate or just the oldest one ?

8:08 Is the silverback head the same size of about 4 to 5 human heads?

4:53 Six tourists, and two Rwandan guides?
@jtscats07824 жыл бұрын
There were more than two Rwandans with us. We had a guide, 2 rangers, and 2 porters. The trek was not that difficult but we hired porters to provide income for them. Many of the porters are former poachers. It helps promote the conservation efforts of the mountain gorillas.

6:29 "...gorillas don't have ..." What did the guide say?
@jtscats07824 жыл бұрын
The guide said that gorillas don't have borders. He was asked if the gorillas travel into nearby countries -- Uganda & DRC.
@rolfpoelman34864 жыл бұрын
@@jtscats0782 And did you and him say that Congo is the only country of the three countries that are killing the gorillas?

8:05 Why do you call him "Beta"? Just because he is 4 years younger than his brother? Are they about the same size?
@jtscats07824 жыл бұрын
His brother is the Alpha silverback (the leader of the troop) & he is #2 or Beta.

3:36 I think it is very tiring to eat green cellulose fibre all day. Is that your joke about fermented bamboo?
@jtscats07824 жыл бұрын
The guide had trekked to this same group the day before. The silverback was eating fermented bamboo that day. The guide said that it is like drinking alcohol & the silverback had been acting "drunk". He was running around & behaving very differently than the next day when we saw him. He appeared to have a "hangover" -- very drowsy & yawning.

How did they get the Bamboo. Is it normally like that
@jtscats07827 жыл бұрын
The bamboo grows in and around the park. Our guide said that as it naturally decomposes it can become fermented.

It would be amazing to see a bald silverback, bald all over, to see the muscle size and definition of the strongest, for their size, animal in the universe.
