Mine has been very slow growing! I love it, thank you Jim for introducing this jewel in the garden and in our yard it performs well in the mid-day sun for about 4-6 hours. Deer do not bother ours.

In zone 6, pieris do great in both direct sun and part shade. They get covered with flowers which the bumblebees love. It’s a reliable performer and looks great in the landscape.

I planted a Pieris japonica 'Mountain Fire two & half seasons ago and that is the slowest growing shrub I’ve ever seen. I wish it would just get going soon so I can enjoy it.

Most all deciduous plants and evergreens can be planted now. It's the best time to plant conifers as long as the ground is workable and not frozen.
