I’m currently running a 32” bar on my 372xp Xtork right now with skip chain. I’m perfectly happy with that combination, ESPECIALLY since I’ve learned to tune the carb up MUCH better than 99.99% of any saw dealers in MY state, but I don’t live in saw country either. But that’s ok, it’s just helped me to become better at certain aspects of the HOBBY, because in my circumstances that’s exactly what it is. 😊 It’s just good to be here David. I’m just enjoying the little bit of life that I do get participate in.

I base my bar on the size of tree stumps we will be working with. Our Son likes a 28" lite bar on his ported 390xp I run a 32" on mine. We only run 3/8 full chisel skip tooth chain but really it's depending on what you like. I have a buddy who only runs 24" bars on his powerheads because that's what he is used to and likes . We own our own logging company and I enjoy your videos so who cares what the weekend warriors have to say. Cheers.

I run 32" bars on all of my Stihl Ms 462's and I'm just a firewood guy. The longer bar allows you to stand up more and not bend over so much. Way better than a shorter bar. Even the 28" bars are short enough causing you to bend over too much.

I am 6'4" and use a 36" Tsumura light bar on my 661. I find it way easier to use a largish saw with a long bar and stand up straight when bucking than being bent over with a lighter saw with a short bar. I fell and cut excessively hardwood. Some of the trees on my property I still have to cut from both sides as they exceed the bar length. My saw balances the same with this light bar as it would with a 25" OEM Stihl bar. Its not nose heavy and stays level when held with one hand at the handle bar. That takes any guess work out of the falling cuts.

I have always tried to keep the trees off of the ground , when dragging them lift the loader up high enough so that only the one end is on the ground. A digging bar or PeeVee to move roll them. I used to be able to feel the other side of the log, not enough now for that. I cut for a friend a few years ago they like to drag the trees on the ground, had to sharpen the teeth a LOT! Little wonder why there saws weren't being used. When I was young I would lift up on the bar underneath when that cutting was to be done. Other then that just use the dogs.
