Same. Literally only got two games in with my dwarves that I started (2k points) and bought with my first paycheck just to find out AOS was around the corner a week from the second game :(

4 more models would have made the spearmen stubborn. Knightly temper is only on the charge and executioners have killing blow and a war hydra breath weapon is S4 (no fear test also? men-at-arms are likely to fail). It feels kind of so-so when all the rule muckups are in the favor of one party, and the more experienced one at that. And there sits Cullen with the dark elf book in his lap "S1 breath weapon"; c'mon boys, whatever with what's a mistake or not, it's not the best of looks. At the very least with a room full of people someone should be like 'hang on, S1 breath? that doesn't make any sense'. I also noticed I'm not in the list of backers. Huh.

thats an excellent comment and what irks me about these reports too. He goes so fast, esp, w/ newer players, that they can do little but nod and get swept along. Let alone that most of the rules they forget or gloss over benefits him.

First of all great thanks for bringing back fantasy. You are great. Usuall constructive critic: 10:35 No panic for second time. Unit can test to panic only one per phase [BRB page 62], and they already passed. 11:35 Not the rules itself, but I don't know why Hydra didn't charge. It just stood there 1" in front of 3 knights. 35:41 It would not be double ones. Elves would be steadfast as only 5 models in last rank are needed to be steadfast. So VERY BIG difference. I feel that this episode there was to many camera movement - this is the first episode ever when I felt slightly dizzy from movement of camera (active person roll and passive player records, but I understood that Jackson is not employee of MMG). Still great work.

You need 2 ranks of 5 models to cause disruption so he would not have been disrupted. Plus page 55 says disruption does not cause a unit to lose streadfast. Disruption only takes away rank bonus as per page 52.

Essentially, wherever the rule says 'a rank of five or more models' treat it as reading 'a rank of three models'

@@Anecron1 No, as I said there would be 4 more models due to model not having Virtue of the Joust. Which would mean 3 ranks of elves vs 2 of bretonia. Disruption doesn't cause lost of steadfast. So they ARE steadfast, which means 1 more round, and probably reform.

Jackson: When fighting brets, you can be 90% sure their knights will be 3 wide, this means your optimal unit size will be 5 wide. The 2 additional models in your infantry blocks will do nothing except enable your opponent to get easier multicharges on you. Put them in the back instead to give you a chance to be steadfast for longer. I'm actually surprised Steve didn't give you the heads up before the game. Suggest giving the noobies 10% more points in these games. May balance things out a bit...

It's swings and roundabouts. Having wider units means that when you charge into the flank of a knight bus you have more models capable of capitalizing on the lances obvious weakness and will most likely break the unit.

@@chrisbaldwin8570 Sure, but there were 2 infantry blocks on the table and brets have the charge advantage. Unless something very weird happens, the knights won't offer up a flank to them. If anything, the executioners should be the main target for a charge since the spears lose 1 rank of attacks on the countercharge. Even it that happens in the odd game, I wouldn't really recommend to a new player to base his strategy around it. Would you?

To be fair, in my experience that's every game involving Bretonnia. Either they packed their rubber lances and just flop over and die, or they forget to feed the horses turning them into vicious murder machines that absolutely destroys everything in reach.

They do, he goes to fast sometimes for anyone to think they just believe his word instead. The dark elf should have directed all his shooting attacks into one unit instead of spreading it around

Nice batrep! One big mistake however, at 35:36 the spearman were steadfast with 3 ranks. You only had two with the side charge. Can’t cancel his ranks with side charge either, must be ten models.

The angle of fleeing from the peasants was wrong as well, the model turns directly around (180 degrees) and flees. The rule you were referencing was for multiple units being involved.

22:45 - It drives me crazy to see people using die roll results on sideways dice. Maybe it's my OCD, but we always play that, if it's not flat, it's re-rolled.

we play: its only rerolled, when it is actually unclear, which side came out on top. and this saves so many rerolls.

Adding on what others already mentioned (game wad over anyway) min 37, you can only overrun forward if the unit they fought are destroyed, otherwise, you have to chase the fleeing unit, and in that direction potentionally charge

When you flee from combat, you turn the unit 180 degrees. You do not measure center to center. You cannot opt to overrun instead of pursue.

Watched a few of these guys battle reports and god never seen so many rules played sooo wrong guy sitting with the rule book and can’t read guys it’s brilliant to see people playing the game but for god sake read the rules I would rather the video be longer and see yous double check stuff than make it up as you go along.
