Another awesome adventure!! Crazy how that trail looks wide as a road at times and then disappears. Can't imagine how much it would suck to be sick on the trail, especially when faced with lots more strenuous hiking! Always enjoy your adventures and look forward to Part II!!!
@mountainwanderer3 ай бұрын
The start of the trail was also an ATV trail, but it was so rough that we couldn't believe anyone would ride it! Even though I was sick, I just kept pushing through hoping I would come out of it.

Epic in every sense of the word, Travis. Good to see Brandon back out on the trail with you. Your other companions provided good camaraderie. I think the mad cow was seeing red! The vistas along the ridge were awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I was starting to wonder if that cow was planning on doing the whole trail with us!

Sorry you weren't feeling well for the first three days. Hope you improved in part 2. This is a different kind of challenge for you. The Uintas look incredible. I've never been backpacking there, but have thought about it a few times. Great video Travis!

You should definitely try to get to the Uintas as some point! In my opinion, they are unlike any other range out there (.. that I have been to)

It was between this and the Sawtooths this year for me. I choose a shorter ~65 mile loop in the Sawtooths but I am kind of wishing I would have done the highline. Sawtooths was smokey and crowded. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Next year. Cheers!
@mountainwanderer3 ай бұрын
The Sawtooths always seem to be crowded, too bad about the smoke though. Incredible mountains!
@dmn37733 ай бұрын
@@mountainwanderer I also did a quick overnighter into Antz Basin (boorn lakes) which was also crowded but I am guessing is not as bad overall. The whole SNRA has been hit hard with some bad burns this year.

Alright! My neck of the woods! The Uinta Highline Trail is no joke! I did it in 2022. Sorry you were not feeling well. Were you guys using electrolytes? Those really help that high altitude sickness. Hope that gets better in the next part. You guys were doing this as I was getting ready to travel for my Teton Crest Trail adventure. I may do the UHT again next summer, but a different variation. Look forward to the next one! ✌️
@mountainwanderer3 ай бұрын
I was drinking so much electrolytes that I was starting to gag even when I smelled the powder. I do think it was elevation related, but it wasn't from being dehydrated or not enough electrolytes.
@ChristianPaulPhotography3 ай бұрын
@@mountainwanderer I’m sorry. Maybe a virus then? That’s a rough go being that far out there and not feeling well like that. Hope you are feeling better in the next video.

Looking back I think it was the altitude
@ChristianPaulPhotography3 ай бұрын
@@mountainwanderer that’s one of the toughest parts of the Uinta Highline Trail is the elevation gains. It tougher on some more than others. I hope in the next video it goes away for you.

Trials and tribulations in the high country. Was that bird nest supposed to be on the ground? Love those open grassy peaks. Sorry for the sickness, a real shame after your excitement of finally getting there.
@mountainwanderer3 ай бұрын
I'm still not sure what was getting to me. I hike at high elevation every year. We just happened to see that bird's nest on the ground - didn't seem like it fell down.

I’m 0-2 on my Highline Trail attempts. 7 years ago I picked the rainiest week of the year and we bailed at mile 50. 2 years ago I attempted it solo but a bout with Covid a month earlier left me exhausted and weak after day two.. bailed at mile 27. I will do it before I leave this earth. I agree the trail is poorly marked in many spots and the Forest Service needs to up their game there.
