I specifically remember a month ago I was discussing Chubby Emu video's with my friend, and without really thinking about it I told him your videos have fantastic quality, and I remember as I showed him examples, I suddenly realized exactly how much that quality is present and consistent throughout the different aspects of the video, From storytelling, and audio to editing and cinematography. I surprised myself just by paying a bit more attention. Keep it up and thanks!

I really appreciate this in-depth dive on how you found learning a new camera! For my medical education vids, I’m still just using my Samsung Galaxy S21 with a tripod I can rotate! But as I’m trying to grow my KZbin channel, I’m definitely considering upgrading, and things like vertical video/shorts are such important considerations. Needless to say, Chubbyemu and Heme Review are huge inspirations on my own content - and content is king! 👑 I’m putting the Sony FX6 on my watchlist for potential buys in the near future, while remembering the accessories I might have to get! Thanks for this :)

As someone who is into cameras themselves I always realised that you put a lot of work in your video quality and I really appreciate it. This video was also great, it gives a real world example on how one might feel working with the FX-6. I work at a University where one of the courses is based on Media (Mediadesign/management/communication) Bachelor's and Masters btw. And we have a lot of high end camera gear and I can always geek out about it. Absolutely agree with the fact that you shouldn't cheap/bargain out with baseplates and rods, they are really important for a complete camera rig.

One thing I recommend: don’t skimp out on your editing monitor either. Getting a monitor with superb color accuracy and uniformity across the entire panel is as key as any other piece of gear. Tbh as long as vid is not bad quality, blurred on the object we supposed to see - it doesn't matter as it's not distracting, the blur of the background is nice but I don't think it's a problem if it's not there. How good your vids are doing is probably more on the topic/catchy naming/what is on thumbnail, is it humourous, what is hot topic at the time (i e. Covid "cures") or something that ppl relate to more. And of course algorithm, it's shuffling vids in the weird way sometimes. Oh and if the topic looks too scary (ordinary thing or unusual pain) may do worse cause TBH that may hit too close to home and induce "intern syndrome". If it's some stupid person eating or drinking too much of weird stuff it's fine but if it's something you just ate on lunch you probably don't wanna watch it 😁

Hey Dr. Bernard! I really like the results you've been getting with the FX6 in your videos; as always, a joy to follow your work. Stepping over to full frame can provide some intriguing options and advantages! I work with FX3's now and really enjoy them for their slightly more video-focused attitude compared to A7SIII's. Lightyears improved from A7SII ergonomically & processing. B&H did a comparison video and verified that the sensor in the A7SIII, FX3, FX6, and ZV-E1 are all identical, so your hunch is right! The FX3 is a great camera, very compact and easy to work with when you want as minimal of a rig as possible and the A7SIII is certainly the same with just a bit more size from the viewfinder. I certainly find they are all nicely matched with each other. In a sense, they're basically a family of inter-compatible cameras "pre-rigged" to meet different needs and workflows as you desire. I have noticed over the years Sony cameras seem to run a little warmer in WB, perhaps slightly more purple too. I mostly shoot in S-Cinetone or a custom picture profile variant of that using a slightly wider gamut like Cine 2 gamut with S-Cinetone color and some extra saturation; enough room to fix things but not so much that detail is lost (I personally find S-Cinetone color handles faces nicer than the old Cine color profile). Not as nice as making a custom LUT, filming in S-Log and all that of course, but it is a quick and lightweight way to work, especially if just internally recording 4:2:2 10-bit 4K Intra. Fingers crossed Sony keeps expanding the quality and range of internal formats in future models. The biggest beef I've had with Sony is their outright refusal to release anything in the semi-pro side that shoots 6k or 8k. Yeah, a1 and the new a7RV can do it with a few asterisks and footnotes, but the considerably more expensive FX9 can't. I kinda get they probably don't want to step on sales of Venice, but other companies are happily digging out the ground from under them, albeit not usually with full frame designs. I even have an A7IV and some A7C's (33, 24 MP) I use as "B" and "C" cams respectively which give you the same 4K FF oversampling & S35 crop recording options as a FX9, obviously with significant drawbacks. It becomes harder to dismiss non-FF designs that can record significantly higher resolutions at similar or even lower prices unless you happen to work in a situation where noise/low light performance is a primary concern. By the way, since you're exploring higher resolutions, you might be interested in checking out (Cosina-)Voigtlander APO-Lanthar full frame lenses in native E-mount. They're photographic lenses so there's a lot of breathing, but Cosina is the OEM responsible for the Zeiss Otus line and many other Zeiss lenses (many or perhaps most those marked 'Made in Japan' I believe); the APO-Lanthars are basically just slowed down, miniaturized Otus with incredible sharpness and excellent correction of all aberrations, distortions, and very flat field curvature, especially the 50 f/2. I use the macro 65 and 110 constantly as close-up angles. All are sharp enough to visibly alias a 50 MP sensor when wide open. Their 'Nokton' line is much less corrected, more "artful" vintage-inspired designs with very fast speeds, all f/1.4 or f/1.2 and very soft bokeh, but still impressive sharpness with partial dispersion glass and some with aspherical elements. The only cost is vignetting (and full manual control only), but if you like that, they're a treat. Mounted on an uncaged FX3 or A7SIII, it's an insanely compact package. Might be useful for secondary angles on the A7SIII where you don't want to fill your bag with a big zoom lens! I've been shooting on most of their E-mount range for the past year and it's a huge step up from the artsy but messy mix of adapted vintage and semi-modern Nikon lenses I was using previously while still keeping things simple and fast.
