I love this mod system. it seems like its just so helpful not only for off-roading but for everyday travel as well. I think it would be more practical for their to be mounts on the lid of the box for them. so you don't have to climb into the bed every time you need your boards.

Will have to give a trip report afterward, I have a feeling if you need to use the maxtrax often you might wish you had mounted them on the outside for ease of access just to reduce fatigue from climbing in and out of the bed. Also, hope you have a blast on the trip.

Great video! Ive been searching for weeks to find a legitimate bed rack for a Gladiator overland/camping build, but they are just too new for plentiful aftermarket accessories, and have only come up with the Yakima Overhaul HD with added accessory side bar and RoofNest RTT, but low and behold Leitner Design is on the ball with including the Gladiator platform in their options and its exactly what im looking for. I know youve already done the Baja trip, but in this video you mentioned doing a video of loading up your boxes. id be interested in seeing your gear and how you have them situated in the boxes. Thanks again i appreciate the time you put in to your channel.

Yup. Pinto the dog shirt would be great. Immortalize the beast! Do you take care of the paint on your off road rigs at all? I wheel a black Tundra, so it's difficult for me to keep it looking fresh after trips. I hate cutting too much paint so I leave it until I feel like there's been enough damage to warrant cutting paint.

Have you thought about adding small gas shocks to the lid? I’m going with this system soon as well, your videos have helped me make that decision, but I’ll probably add something like that myself by making the brackets and finding the right small gas shock. Great content!

Cool video. Awesome truck. Just caught your video looking for a rack system. BUT am I the only one that is seeing a hand full of nuts being removed in seconds with a cordless impact tool and a couple guys walking off with your tool box and its contents? It's cool that the box locks but what protects agains the whole thing being stolen?

Excellent video. Your idea seems very good to me only that I think it has some drawbacks. I realized that the movement of the maxtrax, in off-road places, can open the ears that you did, and therefore, releasing the joints. The second thing is that by making the boxes open they will lose their ability to be water resistant, it seems to me that water will flow inwards. How did it go with that after so many rains we had?
@AutoEdits5 жыл бұрын
Perfectly dry inside the boxes and everything is solid as can be.

Another fun and informative video, Jason. If you were able to remove the toolbox in less than a minute, what would keep someone else from doing the same? Think unattended vehicle in a parking lot (now they'd also get your Maxtrax!). Perhaps some tamper-proof hardware would do the trick. I don't know how many times I came back to my truck to find someone had tried to open my bed box. Keep up the great work!

If you had a choice between your tool boxes on the Leitner, or the Ram boxes which would you choose? I want to put a James Baroud tent up on my truck, Leitner doesn't allow for use with the Ram Boxes. Frontrunner has a lower rack though that would work with it. I need to start making choices soon. Your setup looks great! Thanks for the video. Enjoy Baja!
@AutoEdits5 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one... I just did a video shoot with Ram and the Ram Box was nice but having the Gear Pod and Rotopax mounts is way more valuable to what I need. If someone makes a rack that lets you utilize the Ram Box and you have a truck with those on them... sounds like the way you have to go. I'm very happy with this setup so far.

pretty awesome set up. QQ. Do you keep the RTT mounted all the time? I am considering one for my daily driver and wondering how much hit i can expect on gas mileage ?
@AutoEdits4 жыл бұрын
I did run the tent for months until I noticed the wear on the tent cover. The truck doesn't seem to really notice the tent up there at all and gets awful 11mpg all the time. So now I put the tent in the shed when I'm not going on trips regularly but otherwise it's fine.

Maybe add some very small battery-powered LED lights/light strips down the length of the MAXTRAX so you can see them easier at night and less likely to forget them when you get out of a hole at night ? I’ve left 2 come-alongs because I was so excited to get unstuck.
