Mountune M285 Fiesta ST - The perfect small hot hatch?!

Whilst at FJRS another customer and fellow fast Ford owner bought his lovely OE style Mk7 Fiesta ST down for me to review. This particular car is running the Mountune M285 package, so I took the car out to see exactly what it was like 👌🏻

Love the close to stock look, no need to mess with it too much. Mines is at the m215, seriously weighing up if it’s worth going further.

I found the MP215 to be a great little kit, still very spritely all through the revs but with a little more torque.

I've gone stage 1 on my Mk8 ST M235 and it doesn't require many additional mods yet gives the car a significant lift in power.I think stage 1on these cars are a sweet spot

I’d definitely recommend MR230 on the MK7 ST. MP215 is superb but MR230 is phenomenal. Not too much power for a twisty b-road.

Great video Gary. In all honesty for big power Fiesta’s I would definitely go the Mountune route rather than Revo. The Mountune map seems very versatile as it seems to have a second wind yet is still useable for daily driving. It’s a shame that no Mountune equipment for the MK8 ST is not warranty friendly.

@@tomosjohn230 Ford fixed the previous MK7 issues on the newer MK8 ones. MK8s have been stolen with keys however I am yet to hear of them being taken without. The MK7 suffers greatly from this, as I am an owner of one, but a hardware immobiliser keeps mine safe.

I love the look of the Mountune cat back exhaust system 😊 What’s the cost of this one pls 🤔🤔 Don’t want it too loud though and only looking for the back box. This one looks great 🤩🍇

Not sure you can buy the back box on its own mate they usually come with the mid section pipe too from the cat.

Very nice car, almost a mirror image of mine :). If its not fitted with a LSD it should be as it makes it much more drivable. As for being more usable the the Revo upgrade, I suspect they are very similar, though fitting a ST200 airbox has made mine much more civilised to drive with no apparent deficit to performance. Although it’s a little bit hard to remember, yours was definitely more potent, as the figures would suggest. But yes they were similar to an extent, both great packages to be fair. Awesome little cars 👌🏻

I got the impression you were slightly underwhelmed in terms of power. Mountune hardware/tuning is good, however it’s very linear, in a small car like a fiesta, a more punchy aggressive map is what makes them feel quick.

To be honest it was quite hard to push the car due to traffic on the roads, the fact they were damp and also being in unfamiliar territory. I also show respect towards the cars I’m driving so don’t want to be too silly behind the wheel. It didn’t blow me away admittedly but it was still good fun and certainly no slouch! As an all round package it’s very good indeed.

@@CarFocused without a doubt mate, even without a tune the mk7’s are fairly nippy and are an all around great package. The only issue I have with mountune is the money you have to spend for slight performance increases.

I own a mk7.5 , currently at stage 1 , there is nothing special about them unless you have a proper lsd. On the straights there is nothing to brag about , but traction outta tight turns is where this car fails miserably. They should have fitted a lsd as standard outta the factory , even without a tune that TV is no hope.

I have the m285 and contemplating an open cone filter for more noise. Did you fjnd the cone sound louder than the m285 box? Also where did you get the pro alloy as there doesnt seem to he a mk7 pro alloy kit anywhere i can find?

Yeah it’s definitely louder with the cone filter. I don’t think Pro Alloy offer the kit I’ve got anymore. However I understand that mountune are looking at an open cone filter of their own. So might be worth waiting for that?

I ended up purchasing the Graham goode racing induction kit and for over a year I still love it. Sounds amazing and definitely feels more responsive. Mountune have now released there's. Although they also offer a new tune the m310. Are you going for this?

The M285 Fiesta ST will never be sold in North American, therefore, I do not recommend buying Ford Stocks because Ford is shit.

Mountune is the biggest waste of money Iv ever spent. I have the FPM375 and it made zero difference. Most things I ever see with this tuning company is underwhelming in performance.
