I really relate to the ‘it escaped!’ Paranoia cause I get so worried if I come home I can’t see her anywhere. After how long of her not showing herself should I be worried

Try to remove eggs, I was affraid in the first time, but when my mourning geckos started to lay eggs on a flat surfaces like glass it came out to be very easy to remove eggs without destroying them
@NORTHERNEXOTICS4 жыл бұрын
I've tried. Didn't go well lol
@LesioJunior14 жыл бұрын
Yea, sometimes they hold rly strong. But when I can I remove them from my terrarium b’cause I have a lot f plants and moss inside so if they hatch inside they pretty much goners. Btw awesome content. Helped me a lot when I was starting my mourning geckos story.
@fatdamon41673 жыл бұрын
@@LesioJunior1 wouldn’t moss and plants improve the hatchling survival chances because the foliage provides plenty of hiding spots out of reach from the cannibalistic parents?

NORTHERN EXOTICS great! 👍 glad to hear it. They r so small they could have easily squeezed through a crack in the door and escaped outside

Well it seems like there is a shortage or mourning geckos. I may soon have a business in mourning geckos

Hi Northern Exotics! I love your videos! I am actually getting a pair of mourning geckos tomorrow from Josh’s Frogs! I would definitely recommend moving the eggs to a jar with a tight lid and some fine screen on top. They are easy to build, Clint’s Reptiles has an entire video on building one. I do understand that the gecko eggs were on the glass so it’s hard to move without breaking them.
@NORTHERNEXOTICS4 жыл бұрын
Impossible to move without breaking them unless there stuck to a plant which it's easy then. The jars are what I use to house the babies in . There shown throughout the video

Yes! I love the jar designs you do!

where can i find those mason sized baby gecko enclosures? or did you make them yourself?
@fatdamon41673 жыл бұрын
Question: do mourning geckos require a bowl of premixed food if their tank already has plenty insects for them to hunt and fruit to scavenger for? Can mourning geckos still hunt or has captive breeding limited their hunting ability to where they must be given food in bowls everyday to survive because they get enough calories hunting and scavenging? have a super bio reactive/diverse 20 gal terrarium retrofitted from a aquarium for my mourning gecko. There are lots of isopods, springtails, ants, white worms (normally used for fishing, but white worms are interesting to watch, surprisingly hardy, complete the carbon cycle, rapidly reproduce), pin head crickets, herbivore mites and predatory mites that eat insects their size or less (would a gecko eat mites?) A also gave him some smooshed canned peaches sprinkled throughout the enclosure and and dusted peaches with calcium carbonate. Peach seemed to attract the feeder insects but not the gecko while I was observing.

I just got an adult Hawaiian mourning gecko in a 20 gallon terrarium a couple days ago. Ever since I got the girl she’s mostly kept to the upper walls and has just starting exploring all the features natural tunnel between the substrate and the corners. Tonight was the first night I couldn’t see her anywhere. Could she be tunneling in the substrate or other features where I can’t see her, does this mean she’s making a nest/laying eggs? Where should I look for? Should I search the tank by opening it to make sure she hasn’t escaped? How long is it normal to not see your mourning gecko

I understand fully why you've sealed the air vents over with tape but aren't you reducing ventilation?
@NORTHERNEXOTICS4 жыл бұрын
For a small exo terra like this with no canopy on top then the top venterlation is enough. If I had the light canopy ontop then the sealed vents would be needed

Thanks Richard. I keep yellow bellied toads and do everything to the letter regarding care but don't fully understand humidity and airflow issues. Could you do a video about how it works please.

Hi Richard do you use uvb? is it necessary if i give my geckos vitamin suplies etc?
@NORTHERNEXOTICS4 жыл бұрын
ATM I'm not using uvb but I will be adding it to there bigger enclosure that I'm building . The way I see it is if in the wild they have access to uvb then it must benifit them somehow. At the minute it has the reptile systems proten led light on it for plant growth

@@NORTHERNEXOTICS Alright i have heard that uvb does effect by better hatching rate and healthier young anyways its not must have thing right? Thanks alot.
