I was watching the news about the mouse outbreak in Australia and was reminded of your peanut oil bowl trap, one if the farmers shown was using a huge bowl like container and trying to heard the mice into it. There had to be a hundred mice already in the trap, it was so full mice were using other trapped mice to climb over and jump out.

I don't understand why these types of traps still use string to hold down the part that pulls up the "noose." It seems it would be fairly easy to design a trip arm of some sort that the mouse would push aside to get at the bait, activating the spring to pull the noose up. Maybe someone will design one and send it to Shawn....
@eulachonfish
@eulachonfish 3 жыл бұрын
It avoids false trips, the mouse has to chew the string rather than brush it while turning around or something. That way it's always in the perfect position to get caught by the noose. This style of trap always seems very effective at delivering a rapid and humane kill.

I just saw a news story from the Associated Press today, and this quote, which I'm copying and pasting so it's not a typo by me re the number: Colin Tink estimated he drowned 7,500 mice in a single night last week in a trap he set with a cattle feeding bowl full of water at his farm outside Dubbo. “I thought I might get a couple of hundred. I didn’t think I’d get 7,500,” Tink said.
