I use Curl Talk shampoo every other wash day, with Pineapple Curls Conditioner. My hair has a tendency to get over hydrated and when that happens it can take 8-12 hours for my hair to air dry. This shampoo has really helped cut down on my drying time and the keratin has helped to reduce split ends.

I have been watching your channel for several months now and always learn something from your new videos. My hair is way less stringy since watching you. Partly it is because I have learned to accept that my hair is wavy, not curly. Partly it is because of products suited for wavy hair, and the amount of product suited to fine hair. Super curly shoulder length hair is much longer than wavy shoulder length hair. Hence it needs less product. I have more successful wash days now than ever before. Thank you, Courtney.

Growing up and then having gone to cosmetology school we learn that “products” are not always the healthiest for your hair...the gels and moose and hair sprays and to stay away from them unless absolutely needed. I’ve been no poo and than low poo for years now so I do understand the ingredients list. So is this what makes using the misses and gels not bad for your hair and eliminating those ingredients from the products? I’d love to know if their are any super “natural” products that can be used for the curly girl method. I’m a bit crunchy and really try to stay away from buying tons of products. I already use low poo washes but I guess it’s all the other stuff. I saw your flax gel video but you said it doesn’t have much hold and you’d rather pair it with something. Is the reason why you’d pair things rather then just using one or the other that works?

Hey! 2 questions for you: 1/ how moisturising did you find the conditioner? 2/ Why didn't you try out the curl defining cream, have you previously tried it? I'm asking this because I felt like the cream acts more like leave in/moisturiser than a styling cream (say.... compared to Deva's Wave Maker). I get mover moisturised pretty easily, so I've held off on using the conditioner. I am planning to try the mousse and gel out without the cream sometime. Last 2 times I used these I had to rewash since my curls didn't last past day 1. :(

Hey Courtney...I'm loving your videos! You do such a great job putting them together and explaining all this curly girl stuff, lol. I had actually never heard of the curly girl method until I stumbled upon one of your videos where you were scrunching in product about two weeks ago. I have naturally wavy hair and have always just dried and curled it to style, or combed it out to let it dry naturally, primarily on weekends because it never looks that great using that method. So after watching your video I thought, hey, I have wavy hair, maybe I'll try using my air dry cream and light gel and see what happens. The next day I scrunched in those products with my hair flipped upside down and was AMAZED at the curls (I'm thinking 2a, 2b, and 2c) in my hair! I had no idea it could do that!! So thank you for introducing me to something new that can hopefully improve the health of my hair. I plan to get some of the products and items you have recommended in your videos. At this point, I have a really hard time not washing my hair everyday that I have to go out and about because it always ends up looking crazy the next day (not just kinda bad, but really funky shapes). I'm hoping the silk pillow case and maybe a silk scarf or one of the other items you suggested will help, but I'm wondering if I can still improve the health of my hair washing it 6 days a week. I'd love to hear your thoughts. And on a totally different note...I love your shirt and was wondering if you might share where you got it from. Thanks so much!

How about gel on wet hair and then mouse to scrunch it out to cut down on the amount of product? That's what m gonna first try. I like product, but I hate A LOT of product. Can you recommend a good rinse out conditioner that should NOT be used as a co wash? I'm struggling on finding a good moisturized slip conditioner on my 2a - 2B ( possibly 2c on a GOOD hair day) that needs moisture, but won't way my hair down. Every kind I used that feels perfect while applying and scrunching then dries slightly "oily" and OR weighed down. PLEASE, READ THIS AND CONSIDER GIVING ADVISE ( ANY ADVISE WELCOME OR TIPS AND TRICKS) , thank you in advanced. I don't " think" I have damage at all. I 47 years old and can ALMOST count how many times I've used curling iron and blow dryer. Lol I've even used products less ( besides shampoo, conditioner and sometimes a leave in ). I normaly have very long to middle of the back length. I just did a big chop to a little below my chin. No matter what I do with my hair any longer it just looks ( to me) and feels frizzy and on the dry side. Ohhhhh no I color maybe every three months with boxed hair color ( a couple shades darker) now that I'm 47 and my grey hair has really started to show up and be noticeable to me and others ( husband and kids LOVE to point them all out! RUDE!

my wave/curl pattern is pretty close to yours. Btw, I just started the curl girl about a month... I'm trying to get all this figured out BEFORE my hair starts growing out, so it can be at its best as it grows. Lol since starting CG I diffuse and use products A LOT more than I ever have lol, but I personaly don't think the amount I do is close to the "average" person. Only reason I color every three months is to cut the damage of coloring down and by doing this I can pretty much treat it like coloring "virgin" hair every time, because color is extremely faded/gone and NO new root color. I probably will bump up coloring to every month to every 2 months when my grey becomes relentless and a pain my arse, wich it's getting there, but not quite yet.

My tip is to mist your hair with warm water. Buy one of those 97 cent hair mist bottles, put warm water in it, mist over hair until 25 percent wet ish. This reactives the products. At this point you can plop it or just let it air dry as you get ready. Sometimes ill even put a dry hair oil on the ends and while still wet, finger curl a few strands in the front or whereever needs help

A Person girl that happened and still happens to me a lot, it’s just different for everyone! And your hair will go through seasons, long or short, where you will have more fall out vs less. It also depends how long between washes, your washing technique, how you sleep with your hair, what you do during the day, how often you brush, what type of brush, etc. so yes I feel you on that fear but I bet you truly aren’t losing too much hair love!

You might wash your hair too often. Your hair may or may not be damaged but either way it is almost definitely high porosity. I was planning on getting the curl cream and gel at Ulta before it goes off sale. Now since I watched your video, I'm considering the mousse too. I'm confused on which to get, the curl defining cream or mousse. I'm just starting the curly girl method and need advice. My hair is a little coarse and gets frizzy easily.
@SwavyCurlyCourtney4 жыл бұрын
Sooo the cream actually has a wax in it. If you are very strict cg I though I would let you know. I do really love the mousse. I think it would work well for your hair type.

@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Thanks! I got the defining cream because they were out of mousse. I had to get something because their products were BOGO 50% off. I'll consider getting the mousse next time to see how my hair does.

Have you tried to not emulcify the mousse? I think that mousse works better if I dont rub it in my hands. It seems to dissolve and lose its power when rubbed.

I have never gotten a cast no matter how much gel I apply it’s so weird and my son uses the same product and get a cast . Btw your hair looks super curly with these products.

I get a cast when my hair is still wet. But once it dries, and 98% of the time I air dry, the cast is gone. I always feel like I must be doing something wrong or not applying enough gel. 🤷♀️

Whats a cast?
@christinapal20644 жыл бұрын
@@jessglidden it's a hard feeling in your hair, almost like you put in too much gel and your hair is now crunchy and can look wet. The trick is to "break the cast", either by scrunching the hair with your hands or with an oil. Some people diffuse their hair with a blow dryer to break it..some people leave it as is. The point of it is to give the curls definition and hold so they last multiple days before the next wash day.
@ithzelmelgarejo53814 жыл бұрын
Jess Nicole A cast in general terms is like a layer that surround something. Kinda like how an arm cast surrounds the arm! In this case they are talking about a gel cast, were your hair is surrounded with gel that later hardens

For me the best one is the curl cream and the mousse, for me the gel it dries my hair a lot.. even usen the cream and the gel, is horrible, left me with super dry hair.. did someone have the same result with the gel? I have also the conditioner and I use it only when For co-wash and leavin-in, great results

Hahaha I too struggle with decor so you are not alone there! Please review some of the The Mane Choice products! I just discovered their Pink Lemonade and Coconut Super Antioxidant Mousse and it was amazing!!! I used it as a last step like you taught me with the open palm scrunch and my hair was the best it's ever been! I used it with leave in, Innersense I Create Volume lotion, plopped and then the mousse. Loved the results and had a super intense cast, but it scrunched out beautifully!

I tried some mousse from 'Not Your Mother's' line ages ago, and it was so, so sticky. No slip at all. My hair stuck together so badly. I've been so curious about all the products curly girls have been recommending lately.

How does the perfect hair care brush compare to the wet brush?
@unknownfancy5 жыл бұрын
Ok so here’s my question. When do you do the other stuff? Soaping the body brushing teeth? My concern is the bacne and the slipperiness if i do this as the last stage. But also how to plop it up if i do it first :(
@SwavyCurlyCourtney5 жыл бұрын
unknownfancy só you could totally wash your hair and plop then shower the rest of yourself and brush teeth while plopping! That could work. I tend to bathe first then wash hair. And then brush teeth, etc. I always make sure to face my face after applying products to avoid acne induced by hair products. Haha

What's a cast, just starting to go back to my natural hair. Looks like I'm 2a and 2b.
@nckys34015 жыл бұрын
It’s basically a layer (of gel) over your curls that will eventually harden to create curls that have good hold and keep definition. So they will be stiff and hard when your hair dries. Then generally most people will scrunch or crunch out that cast until their hair is soft again but it will still have that definition from the gel but no without the cast because you have scrunched it out.
